Comments:PSC - No PowerPoints during lecture, and she was quite unorganized. The exams are harder than the concepts in class. She takes forever to grade. She also does do extra credit, which I didn’t do but you definitely should. The surprise quizzes over the readings were details not broad, so actually do the reading and take notes.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:PSC1387 - She's a very sweet professor however she has favorites in the class and if you're not one of them she will call you out and potentially be rude to you, she has a lot of extra credit at the end of the semester which helps. She has readings before every class and she will randomly have quizzes so you don't know when to do or not to do the readings.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2025-01-18

Comments:1387 - As a freshman, she was my best professor in my first semester. I do not care about political science at all and she taught it well enough for me to not be falling asleep in class. She teaches in an engaging way to me, but I understand how some wouldn't like her using exclusively a whiteboard. Pop quizzes can be annoying but I didn't read a single reading the entire semester and just googled the reading before every class and still had a 98, also doing no extra credit. She also was understanding when I told her in advance that I was having technology issues. Class is easy asf and unless you're dumb you will do fine. I do suggest handwriting your notes though.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS. She accused me of using AI 2 times when I literally did not and I disproved her both times. Because she was wrong, she began looking for ways she could potentially find something I did wrong. She is such a miserable human being with a miserable life who wants to take it out on students.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2024-12-29

Comments:PSC 1387 - Her pop quizzes are very annoying as the way she structures her class makes little sense to have pop quizzes. She expects participation yet goes over material in the classroom, which brings the question of why even read the assigned readings if we are just going to talk about them in class? I definitely could have tried harder as I did little effort and still managed a B+ but there are definitely much better professors than Natalie that do Poli Sci. Her system is confusing but if you put consistent effort an A should be relatively easy for anyone.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2024-12-21

Comments:PSC1387 - Lectures were always on the assigned reading, so it made sense not to do the readings. However, there were a few random quizzes on such readings at the beginning of class. These quizzes are open note and not too difficult if you did the reading. Definitely an incentive to do the reading, which was pretty long and boring (especially the court cases later in the semester). The way the grade of the class is structured, an A is pretty achievable. Moreira is a good lecturer and helpful; did show up once accidentally having taken nightquil instead of dayquil 😂.  - Grade In Class:A

Date: 2024-12-19

Comments:1387 - She is a good teacher, but you have to adhere to her teaching style. It is a lecture, and she just stands up on the stage and talks the whole time. This was not my preferred teaching style, but it wasn't terrible either. You just need to show up and listen and take notes. I honestly barely did the readings (which there are a lot of), but if I had free time at night I would read them and understand the lecture a lot better. Pop quizzes are scary, but a lot of times you can predict them coming and do the reading beforehand. Getting an A was possible, but not super easy. The grade is basically just based off of the tests and quizzes, so study study study for tests. Also do the extra credit opportunities! I wish I had done them because they really boosted my friends grades.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - While Political Science is a very boring subject and can be a difficult class, Professor Moreira tries her best to make it simple and engaging. Her lectures aren't very structured, there is a lot of reading, and there are pop quizzes (which are open note), but as long as you put in the time and the work its totally manageable. She also has a lot of opportunities for extra credit so if you do them it will boost your grade a lot and she drops your 3 lowest quiz grades at the end of the semester. While this class wasn't fun Professor Moreira definitely kept it from being miserable and I would definitely recommend taking her.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 1387 - Don't listen to most on here, I just finished her course and it was pretty laid back for the most part. One of the better polisci professors here. She drops like 3 quizzes that are your lowest and has very easy extra credit that she adds to raise exam grade. The work load is easy, just stay on top of readings and you'll be ok for her quizzes; she likes to give "pop quizzes" but if you know you haven't taken a quiz in a bit, then you'll have one. She explains cases and readings very good in lecture and her flipped class actually makes sense; you read and write notes and then in class she goes over the same readings and answers any+all questions. I actually went into this hating polisci, but now i have an appreciation for it. She is a nice person too which makes it easy to talk to her whenever you need help and she is almost always available. As long as you cram and look at the SI stuff and her guides before exams, you should at least be getting Cs-Bs which she fixes at the end with the extra credit points.  - Grade In Class:B+

Date: 2024-12-09

Comments:PSC 1387 - Genuinely one of the better teachers. Don't listen to the other ratings because her class is extremely straightforward if you just do the reading assignments. She makes the class extremely fun and more understandable for everyone.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - PROFESSOR MOREIRA IS AMAZING. It honestly makes me so sad to see that she has such low ratings because I have had an amazing experience in her class. There is quite a bit of reading but nothing absured or unmanageable, she teaches the content like a story which is super helpful for psc classes. Her exams are 100% fair and nothing that hasn't been covered. There are pop quizzes every once in a while but they are open notebook (even though the notes won't really help on the quiz). Moreira is by far my favorite professor I've had this semester and really hope she will be able to teach some higher level courses soon because I would love to take from her again! As long as you do the reading, come to class, and study for the exam you will be fine. There are only a few grades in the class though so if you mess up it is hard to recover. She is overall an amazing teacher!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - She was such a great teacher. Ignore the bad reviews, take her.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - I'll start with the good stuff: She is a very energetic, kind, and entertaining professor. I hate history courses and politics in general, but she made it very interesting and easy to understand. She's very sweet and willing to help when someone doesn't understand something. Now the frustrating things.... There is reading before every class, up to an hour or two if you really want to understand it. I would recommend taking HANDWRITTEN notes on the material BEFORE class, because she does unannounced quizzes randomly and you are allowed to use handwritten notes. Because there is really no way to know when the next quiz will be, you must show up to every class to avoid the risk of getting a 0. The quizzes themselves are relatively easy if you read the material, but you will not succeed in this class if you're unwilling to take notes. The text itself is mostly court cases and federalist papers, but the court cases are just excerpts, not the entire case... so if you skip class, you'll miss the entire explanation of the material along with terms that are not explained by the material. Taking good, HANDWRITTEN notes will save you. All you have to do is read the material before class, handwrite good notes, and be willing to study for a few hours before the 3 total exams (including the final). As for her teaching style, she is incredibly scatterbrained and unorganized, there are not PPTs or outline of the material, and we would often not cover the reading material in class because she would go off on tangents and run out of time. You must be willing to take good notes or you will struggle in this class. Overall, I enjoyed it, but it was frustrating at times  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - Please read. Professor Moreira is a great person and genuinely wants the best for her students. However, when it comes to her teaching, it is very disorganized and hard to follow. There are no PowerPoint slides or any actual text to look at from her lectures. She has an older fashion of lecture style. If you don't take good notes or show up to class, your grade will tank. She also does pop quizzes... which sucks, to say the least. There is reading every class and she will surprise you with quizzes for them. I didn't enjoy the class at all and it was a huge stressor. I wouldn't recommend it. Her exams are so hard too. SI does really help you understand main ideas but to have a good/high grade, you really have to put effort in.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1387 - PLEASE READ - As somebody who has never been interested in polysci and a business major, I really enjoyed this class. She has no reason to be a 61 rating, that is way too low. This class is truly easy but you have to put in the work. There are readings due every class with engagement summaries (paragraph about what you learned last class), pop quizzes, and obviously the tests (only two, 3 with the final). It will take some time to learn how to study for this class, but what I did was spend 30 minutes researching the documents before class, then taking notes during her lectures. Like I said, there are sometimes pop quizzes so try to be prepared for every class, however 3 of them get dropped at the end of the semester which will increase your grade SIGNIFICANTLY (mine went up 8 points at the end). I got 90+ on the tests, the SI is pointless. Her tests are 45 multiple questions which is kind of ideal for the material. She does not use PowerPoints, which was honestly refreshing. She is a very sweet, energetic lady who loves the material she teaches. Do not listen to the horrible reviews.. although this class can be boring for some, if you are willing to actually try and listen and understand what she is talking about, this class is very fun. Take her!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:PSC 1387 - Moreira is such a sweet and funny professor. Her lectures are engaging and pretty humorous. I honestly have never read any of the readings but I always get As on the exams (which are about 45 multiple choice questions). It's mainly just memorization from the lectures. She is also giving us an open note final if we get 100% completion on our course evals.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - Ok I am a political science major and I took her at her very first semester at Baylor. If you just try you will be fine. She is super funny and has interesting lectures. She presents the information in an entertaining way which is great especially if you do not like or are not interested in the subject. A lot of people do not like her but I think she did a great job and tried to really get us to learn. She is very strict about cheating so just don't even go there with her. All you have to do is to show up to get a good grade. I did skim the reading before class but that is about it. If you have to take this class I would take it with her. I took it at 8am and she always woke me up and I never dreaded going to this class. I learned so much and the information from this class has served me so well in other classes.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Consitution - Hated this class. I read more for this class than any of my other classes combined, including English. We had to come to class having read a certain article every single day that were usually 30+ pages at least. Had pop quizzes every week or every other week over the reading of the day. They are 5 questions each and over the entire semester we had only 1 quiz with a passing class average. We had a midterm and a final for 30% each of our grades and they were ridiculously hard. The true false would be an entire correct statement with only for example "article 3b" instead of "article 3c." I studied so much for this class and it is the only reason I made an A in this class. Everyone did horrible on the final so she curved it 6 points and added more extra credit to other assignments so the whole class wouldn't be failing. We had a group project on a court case and had to present it to another group who got to grade us instead of her. We also had an extremely long paper that was worth a large part of our grade that her TA graded and she didn't even look at any of them. She's late to class every single day. Our class was filled with over 200 people and if she hears a faint whisper she will stop mid sentence and yell at the person talking. If you pack up your bag before class time is officially over she will hold us in her class for an extra minute like we are in middle school. She didn't believe in powerpoints and would just pace the front of the room and talk about things and draw pictures for a visual occasionally. She went to Baylor and has the mindset that she is so much better than everyone because she is already graduated. Not a fun class at all and would not recommend to anyone.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 1387 - Professor Moirera is a wonderful teacher! Even though it is a large lecture class she makes a great effort to keep it extremely entertaining and knows all the students who choose to participate in class!! I would definitely take it again and always looked forward to it everyday. Lots of reading but ultimately worth it and makes class easy if you just do what you’re supposed to, barely had to do any studying for the tests and got all A’s. Would definitely recommend her!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - I really loved having Professor Moreira. I am not a poli sci major or anywhere close to it, and although I am mildly interested in politics, I dislike learning about "old dead guys", so I dreaded taking this gen ed. Despite this, I can confidently say Professor Moreira has been one of my favorite social science teachers ever. She made the class truly enjoyable and I learned a ton, past just having to memorize info for tests - I feel as though my general knowledge of American history and the political landscape has increased far past what I expected it to from my first impression of the course. Workload: she assigns daily readings, and although the material is pretty difficult to parse, it's not long, and you are encouraged to use online resources to get through it. She discusses each reading in depth in each class, so if you don't understand something, it's not the end of the world. Teaching style: unguided lectures. She is an engaging lecturer, and consistently cracks jokes & makes crazy analogies that help with memory & knowledge retention. She does not use preplanned visual aids or handouts, but will draw diagrams relevant to the material and write important phrases/definitions on the board. You do actually have to attend every single class if you want to do well on the tests, as she will pull info from the lectures to put on the test. She also gives you the opportunity to argue for your answer for 3 questions on each test for half credit, which I think is a fantastic pedagogical tool for comprehension, and felt a little better when I was given the option to explain why I chose an answer I felt might not be right. She also gives a ton of opportunities for extra credit. Quizzes: We had 6 pop quizzes total(4-6 questions each), plus an in-class project that counted as a quiz grade. She drops the lowest 3 scores, and the quizzes vary in difficulty. Often she will hint heavily at having a quiz so you can study the material a little harder. Overall: I highly recommend taking Professor Moreira. This is a large, freshman level class and it shows in her reviews here with the tons of people upset that they didn't do the work or didn't show up and so didn't get a good grade. This is a standard college level class(read: more demanding than high school classes, but not overwhelmingly so), and as long as you show up, have a vague understanding of the readings before class starts, write notes, and take the time to review material before tests, you will have no problem. If you are looking for a class you can sleep through, Moreira is not the one for you, but I absolutely loved her teaching style and really looked forward to each class, and ended the semester feeling exponentially more informed.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - She has interesting lessons but the pop reading quizzes are awful, they're hard even if you read the material.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2023-12-08

Comments:PSC1387 - I'm not a polisci major, but I enjoyed this class. The quizzes are open note (ONLY paper notes) and the readings are not too long. I read summaries online and did well on the quizzes. If you go to SI, the tests are very easy. She doesn't use powerpoints when teaching, but she is very passionate about the subject and is an engaging speaker. I actually learned a lot in this class and would recommend Professor Moreira.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - If you have the opportunity to take her DONT! The worst teacher I have ever had in my life. She assigns a ton of readings, if the class makes her mad, you are getting a pop quiz. She assigns assignments worth 10% of your grade that you can only get credit for if you are in class so you do not start thanksgiving break early. She does not use powerpoint or slide shows and goes on and on in lecture about irrelevant information. I would not wish her on my worst enemy. If you value your sanity do not take her as she should not be teaching at a school like Baylor.  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:PSC 1387 - Absolutely terrible professor. Part of the reason I created this account was specifically to warn other students NOT TO TAKE MOREIRA. She will purposefully assign projects right before holidays, such as the project that began the day before November break. She is cocky and self-righteous - she NEVER uses slides, lacks basic organisational skills in her lectures, and takes every opportunity she can to insert her own biases into her exams, lectures, and any other content she produces. When I say she lacks basic organisational skills, I mean all of her lectures consist of random tangents that vaguely relate to the content on the test. Do not expect her to respond to criticism or even basic questions about her material; if you question her, or ask questions at all, she will purposefully grade you more harshly than others. If the class does not actively respond to her questions during her lectures, she will stop lecturing and start insulting random people in the class. For what it’s worth, she also has a knack for yelling throughout her entire lectures, which drone on and on for an hour and fifteen minutes. Do not expect to leave class early or even on time, as she always saves important information for the very end of class. Lastly, she requires you to buy the textbook but never touches it. You might think I am exaggerating and attacking Mrs Moreira for no reason, but everything I have written here is truthful. In fact, I am genuinely surprised that she has not been fired yet. My A in this class was only due to my prior knowledge. Note that she will not let you see any of the grades for your assignments. History and politics are a passion of mine that I enjoy learning about, but she makes these topics seem dull and boring despite her attempts to make jokes throughout her lectures that rarely land. DO NOT TAKE MOREIRA.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - This class was counterproductive to my year at Baylor. The professor assigned nearly two hours' worth of reading every class and provided no notes or guidelines for tests. She 'lectures' the entire period, with no structure, so it's hard to keep up and take notes. If you miss a class, it is very difficult to catch up due to the rapid pace she takes with lectures. There are also no tools provided to help you in any way.  - Grade In Class:B

Date: 2023-11-14

Comments:1305 - HORRIBLE! She cannot teach! She spends the entire class rambling about the readings that take around 2 hours to complete and then draws stick figures on the board to explain what she is saying. She does not use slide shows, give hand-outs, or put anything on the board that is remotely helpful. Her tests are fine, if you study you will be fine, but you do need to work very hard to even get a B.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1387 - I'm not a poli sci major and I found Professor Moriera's class pretty awesome! She is pretty funny and I was almost always engaged in her lectures and found them entertaining and useful in my own discipline. She is a great lecturer and prepares you well for her exams. The class definitely isn't easy but the workload isn't too bad and she made the poli sci lectures enjoyable to attend! Would recommend!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:PSC 1387 - These comments are crazy. She teaches a huge class, so I guess the only people who comment are the ones who complain? She was really nice and the tests were pretty easy. She assigns a lot of reading, but as long as you pay attention in class and google the readings first, you do fine on quizzes. No powerpoint, no reading boring lectures. It's a fine class, in my opinion.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - DO NOT TAKE HER Her teaching and her personality are honestly AWFUL. She refuses to help students, belittles them, and doesn't even make sense. She wont use slides so she just stand at the front of the class (like the president) and lectures on GOD KNOWS WHAT her class is actually so bad... I tried my hardest to take notes and pay attention but without anything visual I got lost SO FAST and ended up twiddling my thumbs the rest of class cause my notes no longer made sense. I went to EVERY SI and made a 50% on the first exam. Obvously history and poly sci arent my thing, but with as much study time and attention I put in, I should have at least gotten away with a C on the exam. Her attitude is what makes her so unbearable though, she is soooooo petty and just a sour person its hard to sit there and listen to her complain all the time. Comments:1387 - I'd consider myself pretty informed on current events and functions of government, so the first test (which was about the federalist papers), I did pretty well on. However, this was mostly due to previous knowledge and was not much credit to her teaching style. She doesn't use slides, often lectures and rambles, and has these pop quizzes on niche parts of the readings (which 90% of the class doesnt read or retain, and honestly why would they? its a gen-ed.) She ended up screwing up so bad teaching us the second exam the class average was a low 60 in a group of 200 people, and she eliminated the hardest 5 questions and gave us a ton of extra credit work to do to replace it all to save herself from the department. I already know this final is gonna suck and my A is definitely gone for good, but in conclusion, she can't teach, material is pretty confusing especially later, and she can't recognize that shes teaching in ineffective ways. save yourself and take one of the 1387 classes with a better rated professor, most are easy As/Bs.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:PSC1387 - Easily the worse teacher I have had on this campus. Her lack of adaptability and sheer attitude towards teaching has made me build an irresistible hate for the class. She has declined the use of slides for some silly reason and for some reason thinks talking for an hour and fifteen will make students learn better. Her test are extremely stupid, the only bright side of her class is her jokes that hit once a while. She is very petty and revenge is her motive at times to give quizzes. DON'T TAKE HER.  - Grade In Class:C

Date: 2023-04-26

Comments:1305 - Do not take if you value your sanity. She is extremely nice in a one on one environment, but in class it is extremely different. She lectures and half the time it isn't on the readings, the pop quizzes are excessively hard (most people failed them), there are very few assignments so all grades actually matter, and she treats you as if you are a very low inferior. I did every one of the overly lengthy readings, went to every class and office hour, and did all the extra credit. That is the only reason I got an A. I had no life outside of this class. Do not take it with her.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1387 - I really like Professor Moreira, I am a Poli Sci major so I really understood the subject well. I like her lecture style, she doesn't just read off a PowerPoint. She asks the class questions to try and get engagement from the students. The midterm was not bad at all, she actually wants her students to pass and she structures the test around her lectures. I would take her again. She really does care about you, if you answer questions and visit her in office hours she is super sweet.   - Grade In Class:A
