Comments:1301 - Dr. Jones is an excellent professor. I started her class with no prior Latin experience, and she went out of her way to meet with me every week to review anything I was struggling with. The class moves quickly, so I highly recommend attending office hours from the beginning and staying consistent, especially if you’re new to Latin. The homework is productive, and she keeps the course extremely well-organized. She provides helpful worksheets, presentation slides, and example quizzes and exams, giving students a clear idea of what to expect and how to prepare. There was also a free tutor who was incredibly knowledgeable and made a huge difference. Although I have a mediocre grade, I had no background in Latin and did my best to keep up with the fast-paced material. If you have prior Latin experience, this class is definitely worth taking. If not, be prepared to put in a lot of study time, but I would recommend taking her!  - Grade In Class:C+

Comments:1304 - I honestly loved her class - very interesting and very engaging. She made sure everyone felt comfortable during discussions, and was very welcoming in her office hours. She offers a lot of help with essays, and overall, her course is very straightforward. The only downside about it is grading - it did take a while for her to grade papers and essays which was kind of scary; however, as long as you do exactly what she says (which is not hard to do) you will do well in her class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CLA 1304 - Professor Jones is a very sweet woman who is willing to meet with students and help if you need it. There are readings due every class including a poem, a chapter or two from a book, and an essay assigned before every class. Your participation in the class conversations are calculated into your grade. There are two larger essays and several smaller 2-3 page ones throughout the semester along with a few quizzes. What was frustrating for me was that, by the end of the semester, a good chunk of my grades are still not in from even the first half of the course which make it difficult for me to gage what final grade I will have. For example, an essay from the 6th week of class still does not have a grade which makes it difficult to improve without the feedback (im in week 15 right now  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:CLA 1304 - Sweet lady who is very knowledgeable about Ovids works. Definitely a good amount of reading before class and a good amount of essays. However, she does not grade until the last minute. You have no idea how good your writing is until the final, so your grade could quickly plummet. Only get the Heroides book, not the other one. Lectures are pretty boring and you must speak at least 2x per class to earn full points on the participation grade. She will tally every time you speak so be sure to speak up even if you don't know what your talking about. She doesn't expect you to have tons of knowledge on Greek Mythology and she explains every Heroide very well.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CLA 1304 - Do not take this class if you don't want to be in the dark about your grade until the day they're due. I had a great grade even after getting my grade back on the final, but it went to a lower grade because of grades being put in for assignments that were due much, much earlier. While her class is engaging, she is a very rough grader.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1304 - she was unnecessarily harsh in her grading and also really slow with it. there was a lot of reading, but that's to be expected in a classics classic. I feel that I deserve a better grade than I got especially since I went to the writing center for help on all my papers.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Latin 2 - I have a different experience, since I was taught one on one by both Jones and Alden Smith. She was extremely interested in getting to know me, patient and understanding. I credit her and Smith for filling in the gaps in my knowledge. I still say hi to her. She seems to always be working privately with a student or teaching. Highly recommended.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:CLA 1304 - Dr. Jones was a fun professor to have coming into Baylor as a freshmen stem major. This class provided an opportunity to step back from the equations and consider and write about moral implications and the philosophy of Greek (seemingly similar) heroines. We would read from a few books sharpening our writing skills, writing a short 1-2 page assignment every week or so. There was a bigger essay assignment, quizzes on vocab, and a final exam on vocab with a short essay. In-class participation over the material read the night before was expected. Overall, it was a fun way to learn and fulfill the research writing requirement.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1304 - I honestly really liked professor jones, her classes were mostly made up of really simple lectures on rhetoric or discussion on the Heroides. Definitely buy the book that she assigns chapters out of, you don't need to buy the other two. I read the first couple reading assignments but after that you can kinda bs the classes discussions by just skimming the chapters or just going off what she says in class. the most work youll have is a couple short essays on articles she assigns which you can also kinda get by if you don't read them. there aren't any inclass essays except for the final. the biggest paper's youll have to write are 2 eight page papers but they are pretty well spread out. she's a really forgiving grader and pretty good about responding to emails or if you need to meet with her. i honestly didn't pay attention a bunch in class towards the end of the semester and was totally fine. Do understand the rhetorical terms she teachers cause theres like 3 quizzes but they aren't super harsh on your grade if you don't do good on them. overall i thought it was a really easy class and I hate english. its a good way to knock out the research writing requirement  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1304 - I took Dr. Jones to fulfill the research writing requirement. She assigned journal, article and/or "textbook" readings for each class, and then during class she would lecture and ask for our input into the discussion. She's very nice and willing to chat, and was also very responsive to her emails. She is a very slow grader (and did not input any of my essay grades until the day before grades were due), so I did not know if what I was doing with my essays was correct. However, seems like she's a pretty forgiving grader, and has a rubric posted for each assignment. I could've gotten an A if I did not turn in a few of my assignments late (she takes a 5% penalty per day that's late).  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:CLA 3381 - This class was easy. If you have to take medical terminology, she is a fine professor. We had assignments due every Tuesday and Friday, a quiz every week, and four tests. There was no cumulative final, just the fourth test. Dr. Jones like NEVER put in grades though. Like in DECEMBER, grades from September weren't put in. They were inputed the last day of the semester. This class isn't bad, though, so take it if you have to; you'll be fine.   - Grade In Class:A
