*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:1304 - Best class on campus with an amazing teacher. If you can take this as an elective I highly recommending doing it. Completely changed the way i view movies and tv. The shows and movies you have to watch on Thursday are fun and modern, and his test/quizzes couldn't be any easier. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1309 - Awesome class. Couldn’t speak highly enough of how fun intro to film is for a fine arts credit. Sheldon is clearly passionate about film and helping us think through and understand the complexity behind all aspects of it. Attendance is crucial, since the test questions are based off his lectures and homework is based off of screenings. The “lab” for this class starts at 6pm on a weeknight and is a showing of either 1 or 2 movies. The only homework is a biweekly, 300 or so word response to any of the movies shown within the last 2 weeks, with an emphasis on talking about what we’re learning in class at the time. There are also weekly 5 question Canvas quizzes, but you get 3 tries and you can literally see the right answers, so there’s no reason to not get 100 on all of them. Such a fun class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:FDM 1309 - THIS MAN IS THE GOAT. Easily one of my favorite professors at Baylor. I had him for intro to film, and it wouldn't have been as great without him. He loves film and lectures were fun to sit through. The workload is very straightforward and easy to get through. He's great to talk to after class about really any topic you want to talk about. Whether you're a film major or looking to get media credits, TAKE PROFESSOR SHELDON - Grade In Class:A
Comments:FDM-1304 - Professor Sheldon is seriously one of the best professors I have ever met. Even sitting in the class, you can tell he has a huge passion for what he's teaching, and I found myself doing better in the class because of it. The movie nights in this class are really fun, and the essays you have to do are usually not too bad. He gives good feedback on them ,and you can pretty much just cruise through the quizzes anyways (You get infinite attempts. Overall, a great professor that I highly recommend, even if you're not a FDM major - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Media and Society - Zach is one of the most down-to-Earth, helpful, relatable, and fair professors I have ever encountered at Baylor. He loves the material and takes it very seriously, but he never takes it too seriously to the point of making the class difficult or boring. He has you do weekly reflection papers, but they\'re only 1 page (2 paragraphs) and can be written about anything you want or find interesting as long as you relate it back to class. They would only take me 30ish minutes and I always got a great grade (almost always a 100) and lots of good notes (which he\'s very good at giving). I highly recommend you take Zach for Media and Society or any other class you possibly can! I\'ve learned so much and had so much fun- exactly what you want in a class. 10/10 highly recommend! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:FDM 4340 - I was honestly not really expecting to enjoy Media & Society because it just didn't sound super exciting, but it actually turned out to be one of my favorite classes this semester. The material was really interesting and VERY relevant, and the readings (minus maybe from the optional textbook) were pretty short. On top of that, he genuinely loves teaching Media & Society and really cares about us getting something out of it. The best part of his class, though, is the class discussion. He makes his lectures interesting and relatively interactive, but afterward he engages the class and is genuinely really interested in what is said—he talked during the discussions like we were on the same level as him. Since he's new and close to our age, he knows how to help us and give actually useful feedback. Also, bonus for me, he was really lenient and understanding when it came to late work. Overall, super cool dude—highly recommend. As in I literally made an account here just to recommend him. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:FDM 4340 - I'm a senior, so I've been through 7 semesters of classes now. This was one of the most enjoyable classes I have taken at Baylor. Zach (he lets you call him that) is incredibly down to earth, relatable, and genuinely wants his students to learn, but not in a way that is suffocating. We write 1 page each week tying what we learn in class to the real world (which is tangible learning), along with some exams and a group project than benefitted the class. 10/10 would recommend - not a waste of your time, nor does it take up too much of your time. Comments:4340 - Professor Sheldon has clearly passionate about the subject and cares about his students. He's new and you can see him still working through the kinks of his lesson plans, but he still manages to keep class interesting. Classes usually have interesting discussions at the end of him. He's also an easy grader, but he still gives good feedback on your work. - Grade In Class:A
