Comments:1322 - Dr. Lee is a nice man, but his ability to thoroughly explain the content of the material is often lacking. If you ask him a question during class he will most like either not understand your question at all and answer a different question, dodge your question completely, or say something along the lines of "you already learned this." Not to mention, he doesn't post grades on Canvas besides homework grades. Several students asked him if he would post grades on canvas throughout the semester and he remarked that he gave us back our graded tests and quizzes so there was no need. So if you take Dr. Lee's class, expect to be calculating your grade yourself all semester long. ALSO, Dr. Lee messed up everyone's final grades in BearWeb at the end of the semester, giving everyone at least a letter grade lower than the grade they earned because he didn't follow his own syllabus. He corrected it after many people emailed him about it. He doesn't give a lot of homework, which is a plus. But if you're confused about the homework it'll probably be pretty hard to get into his office hours because he assigns homework on Thursday (but usually forgets to post it until Friday or Saturday) and its due on Monday. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1321 - Full disclosure, I have not finished this class yet. I am still within the first few weeks and, as much as I would like to drop it, I can't. This teacher is an active hindrance to education. You will learn NOTHING from him. He is rude, unhelpful, and the worst educator I've ever run into. The homework is long and difficult, due mostly to the fact that he doesn't teach any of the concepts he assigns homework on. Please, if you see this while you can still add and drop classes, save yourself and find a different teacher. You will hate yourself if you don't. - Grade In Class:DROP
Comments:1321 - SO BAD DO NOT TAKE AT ALL COSTS!!!!!! I'm not amazing at math and I had never taken calc in high school, but I am an all A student who works VERY hard and I failed both of my midterms. he goes way too fast, plus it's very hard to understand him. his explanations were horrible, id be more confused after going to his office hours than before. if you care about your sanity and GPA do not take professor lee. - Grade In Class:DROP
Comments:1321 - This was the worst. class. ever. Language was definitely a barrier when he taught my class. If you asked a question, he was either unable to answer it or he did not understand what you were asking him. He was very harsh and not understanding if a mistake was made. You couldn't go to him for help because he did not know how to explain it to you and he would sometimes ask us what different words meant when asked a question. He did not use canvas which made it almost impossible to keep up with your grade and the homework assignments were very lengthy and difficult. The exams were also fairly difficult and consisted of very few questions. There were weekly in class quizzes which I rarely did well on. If I hadn't taken calculus in high school before taking this class there is no way I would have passed and half of my class dropped before the semester was over. Absolutely do not take this professor. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:3326 (PDE) - Hi there. I just spent two hours on my course evaluation of Jeonghun Lee. He is by far the absolute worst professor I or any of my classmates have ever taken at Baylor. The class is very conceptual. He spends the whole class period deriving a formula we should know, and never doing examples so we know how to use it. So on the homework we have no idea how to use anything from class, and the solutions for the book aren't online anywhere. When asked to go over a homework problem that the entire class didn't understand, he said "no we don't have time" and then proceeded on to the next topic (here's a shocker: we didn't understand that one either). Now that classes are online, he posts videos to canvas that we have to watch. Only once have these videos been under 50 minutes long, and the one that was 12 minutes shorter he made up for by doing a video that was 12 minutes longer the next week. He does his best to make the class as difficult as possible, and if we didn't have our groupchat with almost the entire class in it, I have no idea how anyone would pass. PS - that review about the notes is no joke. 22 pages and counting from the three weeks of online class, and there isn't one line that anyone understood. If you asked me to help you with PDE, I'd tell you to change your major. I hope to God my job doesn't have anything to do with this. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PDE - The course doable, but Lee has a mindset that it must be a super hard and boring class. As a result, his lectures are less than helpful, heavily conceptual, not practical, and so unenthusiastic that you can barely hear him from the front row. Office hours are the most helpful thing you'll get out of him, but I lost that resource due to Corona. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:PDE - His lecturing abilities are some of the worst I've ever experienced, he's really smart but his lectures sound like a reading a book at 2x speed and most of the class is lost the whole time. We've had people raise their hands and tell him that nobody is following and he says "Well that is to be expected this is not an easy course." He held office hours during my other classes which I guess isn't his fault but one time I tried to go and he acted like he wanted to get me out of there ASAP. He doesn't seem like he enjoys his jobs or being around college students. After we moved to online schooling, in three weeks I've taken over 30 pages of notes and, not exaggerating, I do not understand a single page of them. Avoid this class, it's a hard class, but if you need to take it avoid Lee. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1321 - The only reason I succeeded in this class is because I would read the material before class, take notes, and do practice problems to teach myself the material. I hadn't taken calculus in high school so this was necessary as Dr. Lee lacks adequate teaching ability. He is extremely smart and can help with specific problems but he doesn't have good technique for helping his students learn general concepts. Calculus is just rough at Baylor, but taking Lee doesn't help at all. try to take someone else - Grade In Class:A
Comments:MTH 1321 - This class was my most challenging this semester. If you have not taken calculus in highschool and want an A (locked down, know for sure) dont take this class. Not that the AP exam is an amazing measure of ability, but I made a 5 on my exam and was told not to test out of it. That said, his class was a reiteration of the already-worked out textbook problems and NOTHING else. You are on YOUR OWN for test-prep. He will not tell you what kind of problems are emphasized on the test and since the textbook has ~500 problems per unit (test), you feel hopeless as to what he wants. Many of the problems are much harder than the ones he asks which means that 1. doing them is a waste of time and 2. you have spread yourself to thin and arent good solving simpler problems extremely quick (the tests are a crunch for time). Good luck if you have him... over 1/2 of my class dropped. - Grade In Class:A
