Comments:1308 - MTH 1308 - DO NOT TAKE COOGAN! He is the absolute worst professor I have ever had! I am being straight up; I am a math major and never had below an A in a math course. With this being said, I can typically do the math, but with the ways, Coogan tries to teach and his harsh grading, you will not succeed. There were many times I got the right answer on quizzes and tests, but since it was not the way Coogan wanted it or felt like it, he counted the problem wrong. He constantly makes mathematical errors in his lectures, has very illegible handwriting so you cannot see where you went wrong, does not care about his student’s personal life, makes very passive-aggressive comments on your quizzes, and does not tell you what you got wrong on quizzes, so you do not know what to study for your next test. As well, his tests were NOTHING like any quizzes or homework. Overall, do not take Coogan, your GPA will drop, and I would hate for anyone else to suffer by taking him. & I will repeat this, but DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1308 - THE WORST!!! seriously, the worst. Horrible (like realllyyy horrible)instruction, test questions are nothing like the quizzes and homework, super harsh grading, constant mistakes in lecture powerpoints, and so much more. Literally DO NOT take this class! Honestly, I am disappointed that Baylor has even allowed for this type of poor instruction. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:MTH 1308 - ATTENTION - DROP THIS CLASS BEFORE YOU EVEN STEP FOOT INTO IT. Unfortunately, the only reason one would ever have to take “Professor” Coogan’s class is because they are coming into their first semester at Baylor and their advisor put them in it. I wish I knew this website existed in August, if so, my 4.0 would be saved. “Professor” Coogan means well and he is a nice person, but he is not fit to teach whatsoever. I found myself being taught the material through example questions on MyLab (the software where you take your homework), not by the professor. His lectures are hard to follow because he reads straight off of a sideshow with multiple errors. He rarely actually works out a problem. And rarely, if ever, does the slideshow for the lesson not have errors that are uncorrected. His quizzes most of the time have little similarity to the homework. He doesn’t grade the quizzes until weeks after and by then, it’s of little use. He grades the quizzes unnecessarily harshly, he is a petty grader and his handwriting is illegible, so you can’t even correct your mistakes. His tests are unnecessarily hard as well. He does not post a solid review and the test questions come out of nowhere. What is so unfortunate is that the material is relatively easy and with any competent teacher, an A would be easy to achieve. But with Peter Coogan it’s highly unlikely, even if you are a mathwiz. So at all costs, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1308 - RUN, DON'T WALK, AWAY FROM THIS CLASS!!! He should not teach turtles, much less humans. In all honestly he means well but he is terrible and should never be in education. You know what they say, those who can't do, teach. He can't do or teach! God bless you if you have to take him. I would rather bathe in the Brazos every day then be subjected to his high pitch, cracky voice. RIP to you if you take him. - Grade In Class:D
Comments:1308 - AVOID if you can he just scrolls through power points and doesn't explain concepts. He does not give any review for the test besides a list of concepts that would be good to know which is ten pages long for the 10 question test. Lastly, he grades homework based on accuracy without showing you what you got wrong which defeats the grading purpose. Overall terrible experience dropped and took another professor the next semester and got an A. - Grade In Class:DROP
Comments:1308 - Do. Not. Take. Professor. Coogan. Peter dedicates class time to explaining problems that he doesn't know the solution to, refuses to answer questions from the students (even though he asks for them), grades harshly and unfairly on quizzes, and his high-pitched voice is prone to crack after his rambling on about meaningless theories that we don't need to know. Mr. Coogan makes everything unnecessarily difficult. Unless you come into this class already knowing Calculus-level math, you will be lost and hopeless, even with countless trips to his office hours. Incredibly unhelpful and irritating, Mr. Coogan should be reconsidered for his status as a teacher here at Baylor University. - Grade In Class:D
Comments:1320 - Lectures are very boring and it is hard to stay focused. He assumes students understand what he is talking about and doesn't do much in the way to help students out if they have forgotten to turn something in. Precal is a very hard course at Baylor so the prof must be very good and invested in order for student to succeed. Take someone else if possible. - Grade In Class:D
Comments:1320 - Yeah, all I'm going to say is he is a last resort pick up... - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1320 - DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! He is not helpful to students at all, when I asked him for help he never replied to my email and i ended up having to drop the course to keep my GPA up. Don't take this class if you want to actually learn anything. - Grade In Class:DROP
