Comments:GTX 2302 - Regardless of what you may have been told, there ARE classes at Baylor where you will be at a significant disadvantage if you are not Christian, or are not a member of one of the mainstream denominations. This is one of them. Dr. Johnson is funny and very knowledgeable about what he teaches. He is also a theologian by training, which carries a few implications. This is a European medieval literature class, which means you will be reading and writing about books written from a singular Christian perspective in a time and place where it was a crime to be anything else, and you are being graded by a traditional-minded theology professor. You can TRY to write about the Divine Comedy from a non-Christian viewpoint, but you simply will not get anywhere with it, and your grade will probably be much worse for it. The class discussions will make you think, but do not really allow for outside viewpoints. I like Dr. Johnson, but I hated this class because I felt like I had to lie about my beliefs (both to myself and to the class) to succeed in it. The discussions made me feel uncomfortable not because I don't want to hear people with different opinions than me, but because I did not feel comfortable expressing my own. Anyway, take this for what it's worth. At least we only had two essays and a final, and at least I never have to take another Great Texts class at Baylor. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:GTX 2302 - GTX 2302- Dr. Johnson is an amazing man who makes you want to do your best in all written work. He grades decently hard on papers, but he desires that you become a better writer in the end. I have learned so much from taking his class this semester and have greatly improved my writing as well. If you are looking for an easy workload and "easy" professor, I would not recommend him. But if you are looking for a professor that pushes you to do your best in all work and finds time to hand grade each and every paper you turn in, then I would highly recommend him. Dr. Johnson is a very challenging yet rewarding professor. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:GTX 3201 - Dr. Johnson is by far the most engaging and passionate lecturer I have ever had during my time at Baylor. He loves his students and really wants them to understand the material and succeed in the classroom and in life. He is absolutely brilliant especially in the fields of GTX and theology. Like all GTX professors he will try to rope you in to doing GTX, but that just shows his passion for his course of study. Definitely take Dr. Johnson if you get the chance, and if you don't, just make it fit into your schedule! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:GTX 2302 - Professor Johnson is one of my all time favorite professors. I learned so much from him, and he really helped our class truly understand why the medieval period is so important. It was theology heavy reading in the best way. He truly cares about his students, and wants them to succeed. He would talk through my papers with me if I was struggling. He also went very in-depth with the material. This was one of my all time favorite classes at Baylor, even though I'm not a Great Texts major. Take him if you can!! He's a very interesting and amazing professor. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:GTX 2302 - Junius Johnson is one of the greatest people ever to walk this earth. He's not only crazy smart, but he's also the funniest, most passionate, down-to-earth professor I've ever had. The class has a decent amount of reading involved, but it was Great Texts so that's to be expected. He does an excellent job of making the texts understandable and he's not a super harsh grader. He really cares about both what he's teaching and the students he's teaching. Hands down my favorite professor. - Grade In Class:A
