Comments:1350 - The reading is way too much and is boring and hard to comprehend if you're not really into religion and history. The daily quizzes over the reading are short, but difficult because the reading is difficult. He gives you 10 min to take the quiz and you can't go back or skip around, so it makes it even more difficult if you have testing anxiety. I ran out of time almost every quiz and had to just randomly click answers for the last half of the quiz just to submit something! The essays are graded tough and class is BORING. Not sure if another teacher could have made it any better, but this one sure didn't try to make it more interesting or applicable.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:REL 1350 - The workload is HUUUGE! If you have a lot of readings, do not take him. His REL course is like aiming for those who are interested in religious history greatly but not for other course area students. Two quizzes of 10 questions each and one discussion are due PER WEEK. The readings are usually over 30 pages per week for both quizzes together. You also have to respond to your classmates' questions per week in order to receive good grades. The essays are toughly graded as well. Definitely not a good course if you're not interested in Religion, but if you are, take him as you wish.  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:REL1350 - I didn't mind Dr. Maine, he was pretty standard and in general pretty understanding. The class is a lot of reading but you need to take it to graduate so you're just going to have to push through it. It's going to be a rough class regardless of who's teaching it. Dr. Maine at least was responsive to emails and always answered any questions I had.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - The discussion boards are simple, but be sure to post, then do not post again until the next day. If you post a reply on the same day, you will lose points, even if you go back and reply again the next day. He grades the essays HARD too, so don't try to just throw them together at the last minute.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - I loved Professor Maine's class! He is very funny and keeps class interesting. He gives a quiz once a week over the reading he assigns, 3 multiple choice test, and 1 essay which he grades very easily. His test are a little difficult but not too bad. His final was extremely difficult though. If you don't take it seriously, your grade will be affected.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1 - Don't look at the overall score for this professor. He is the best lecturer and professor I had this whole quarter. Although he has weekly quizzes, they are only 5 questions and the only homework you'll have in this class. His course consists of 2 exams, 12-13 quizzes, and one essay in the end. He offers a lot of extra credit and lectures are really interesting. I was engaged the whole time and always learned something new every class. He is also willing to meet with you at anytime. I had a casual conversation with him for an hour just about life and it was awesome. Favorite professor by far this whole quarter!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:REL 1350 - Professor Maine was a great professor. His lectures are extremely interesting and it made me actually care about a subject that can be somewhat dry at times. There is a lot of reading to get through and the reading quizzes are quite difficult, but there's a lot of subject material to cover and I didn't end up spending very much time on the readings considering how much we covered. I struggled with the first two tests because I didn't study very well for them, but once I figured out how the class worked (focus on historical figures, their ideas and significance) I was able to do much better. He also gives a ton of extra credit opportunities, so I ended up with an A- despite getting a 69 on the second test. Overall he is a great guy, very understanding with very flexible office hours. He likes what he teaches and he likes his students and wants them to succeed, so there's no reason his class should be too difficult. I do wish he were better at explaining assignments and responding to emails, but he always took the time to answer questions in person after class so it wasn't that big of a deal. I also appreciated the fact that he was very respectful when talking about non-Christians and non-Baptists. Hes just an overall great guy.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1310 - He is a great teacher and I really learned a lot. However there is a ton of reading, and there is a quiz at the beginning of each class to check that you read the material. These quizzes can be really hard and very detailed, but he drops your lowest 3 which is good. The tests are not too bad as long as you study for them. However before the final I had a low A and after the final I was dropped to a B+ because I found it to be very hard and very detailed.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:scriptures - I don't know why he's got such a bad rating on here. He's a great and funny guy. All he does in class is go over the powerpoint which he puts online, so you don't have to take notes in class. Ya his class is kinda boring but he tries to spice it up with some jokes now and then. The tests are over the powerpoint so the tests really aren't that bad either. He does schedule a lot of reading, but so does every religion teacher. He gives quizzes out every Thursday so you can sometimes get away with missing class on a Tuesday. Overall he's a great teacher.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Religion - If you have the option of taking this class with a different professor, I would. If not, Maine is not that bad. He assigns a lot of reading but if you just read Sumney you should be fine for the reading quizzes. Overall, he tries to be funny and he's not...which makes him funny. H'es such a nice guy and it really cute when he talks about his wife.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1350 Heritage - Stop. Take something else. If you want to learn, take someone else If you want a good grade, take someone else. If you want to spend every night reading countless pages in textbooks and online articles and risk hurting your GPA, then take him. So far at Baylor he has been my least favorite teacher, across all subjects. Quiz every week, test every 4th, 2 papers, and extra credit. Quizzes are based off of 2 nights of reading as well as the M/T/W lecture. Quiz questions are tricky and you can go in there knowing almost all of the chapter and getting a 5/10 on them. Test are all multiple choice, which are pretty basic surface level details, but the matching sections are awful. Does not specify whether or not he wants a person/place/event/date and makes options very broad. Each test presents a 5 point extra credit opportunity. Very particular on essays on what he wants, go to his office hours and he will help you with it. A nice guy, just did not like the amount of work I had to put in and only get a B.  - Grade In Class:B
