*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:2303 - I cannot stress enough to not take this mans class. At first youll think hes funny and not want to drop the class, but when I tell you the work load and the daily quizzes are actually the worst thing ever... He also will not help you with anything at all and more so just make side comments at you. He count whole questions wrong for misspelling one word and the vocab is insane. Do not take this class. - Grade In Class:DROP
Comments:CLA2306 - Interesting man to say the least. His online assignments are very straightforward. He has daily quizzes about the readings that he will allow you to make up if you have a valid reason for missing class. His exams are HARD, he marks a whole question wrong for misspelling. The questions are very specific. He doesn't really like when you ask questions in class and will make fun of his students...funny guy though, he always has a lot to say and is great at lecturing - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2306 - Burris is definitely, well, a unique professor. I came into the class really excited about Greek mythology (which btw is the only part you learn, he apparently hates Romans), but his class has honestly been one of my harder classes due to the amount of reading and very specific quiz questions he gives us. The exams require you to know a specific passage from one of the many readings we have to do and identify the location, book, character, and other details. His lecturing style is interesting, but don't ever think that you can include yourself in it because he hates questions. I've seen him quite literally sigh and eye roll as someone attempted to raise their hand. He definitely thinks of himself highly and above other people, so if you can handle a bit of cockiness then be my guest and take his class. But from a personal perspective, I would probably not choose his class if I could avoid it. Do yourself a favor and find another professor. - Grade In Class:B

Comments:greek myth - This man is by far one of the most odd professors I have ever had. That being said, I did kind of love taking his class. Was I slightly scared of him? Yes. Were his lectures entertaining as hell? Yes. I got a good grade in the class, but I am also not in a super study-intensive major, and you do really have to study for this class. Its a lot of memorization of things and he marks you down for spelling on tests. Definitely a harsh grader. Luckily I'm good at memorizing random facts but I don't think I'd recommend it to someone who doesn't have time to study for it. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:CLA 2306 - Burris' lectures are great, but his attitude and workload are a little off-putting. I absolutely loved his lectures and how he lead class discussions. I really thought I hated greek myth, but his jokes and the discussions our classes had ultimately made me find something I was passionate in that I don't think I would've enjoyed with a different professor. That being said, he is very old fashioned with his teaching style. Grades were almost solely based on a midterm and the final. The reading was also very heavy because we were reading whole greek plays in the span of 2 days turnaround. He also is very uptight in the classroom and will call you out if you arrive to class tired or glance at your phone. He thinks kinda highly of himself and lowly of his students, but if you participate in class discussions, he seems to be a lot nicer. Overall, he's a great lecturer, but outside of class he's a little frustrating to put up with. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2306 - Dr. Burris is the best professor I have had at Baylor. However, he is by no means an easy grader. His lectures are absolutely fantastic, and I cannot express enough how amazing they are. You need to do the reading, because he will ask very specific questions about it, such as a location where a very specific action took place. I genuinely think that he is the best professor I will ever have at Baylor. I might get a B+, as I had some stuff going on and completely screwed a module test. The module tests are worth 7.5% of your grade, and are bi-weekly. The workload is honestly probably a 1 or 2*, but I put it at 3 because it is so worth it. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:CLA 3380 - This class is a brief overview of the major works of Greek mythology. The first half of the semester is made up of some of the hymns to different Greek gods (such as Demeter & Apollo) which are more vague works of Greek literature. The second half of the semester is comprised of plays by major playwrights and is much more enjoyable. There is a reading quiz almost every day over the assigned reading for that class period. Attention to detail and reading through the entire play is necessary to do well. There are also reading responses (1 page) due about once a week. This midterm was extremely difficult primarily due the the length at which you had to understand the literature in order to do well. It was made up of terminology, recognizing portions from the literature and an essay portion. There are 2 papers in this class which Burris gives adequate instructions for. (Don't write them the night before.) The final is the same structure as the midterm and is a higher weight which gives you the chance to redeem your grade. Overall, this class was not my favorite, but for an upper level fine art credit it is not bad.It just demands an extreme attention to detail. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:BII 2011 - Our journey, both physically and intellectually, into Sicily was mind-blowing. I know about ancient Sicily in a way that I could not have fathomed when this summer began. Dr. Burris is a great lecturer, amazingly knowledgable and prepared, and a great leader on site. The class and the trip as a whole were both amazing. If you want to go to Italy, to learn about classical history, go on Baylor in Italy! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1301 and 1302 Greek - THE BURRIS is awesome! I always felt like I wanted to do well in this class just based on the fact that Burris is such a great teacher and genuinely wants his students to learn Greek. I wish I could have devoted more time to it. Greek is hard. Burris is not going to soft-pedal anything and shouldn't have to reduce his standards based on the lazy students who enroll in his class. Consider the following: drill instructors are abrasive for a reason - to produce top-notch soldiers ready for combat. Analogously, Burris trains his students to fight the good fight against ignorance armed with plenty of mi-verbs and principle parts...or something like that. TAKE GREEK WITH BURRIS! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1301 - This class is SO hard. It didn't help that he told us we had to teach ourselves the material. He's a nice, meek man, but his teaching style is one that few can understand. I dropped and switched to Hebrew which was SO much easier. Stay away. - Grade In Class:DROP
Comments:3380 - GREAT guy! Very hepful and understanding. Probably one of the funnest classes I've taken at Baylor and it was all because of having him as a professor. My grade doesn't show it but the class was very interesting and fun! Thanks Dr Burris for everything! - Grade In Class:D
Comments:Greek 1301 and 1302 - Dr. Burris is a great professor. He is challenging, but willing to help. He is also very entertaining so class is never boring. If you do the work and ask questions you can do well in his classes. If you make an effort, I think its impossible to come out of his courses without knowing Greek very well. Burris is one of my favorite professors at Baylor. - Grade In Class:A
