Comments:Bio 2401 - Dr. Taylor is the only reason I'm going to medical school. Listen, if you're here for an easy A, don't take his class. He will make you WORK. But it's worth it. His class pushed me to the point of realization that I could be an academic weapon. He gave me the confidence to purse my dream of a medical career. He taught me I could do it. He is one of the kindest human beings ever, and he will explain anything you're confused about. I spent a lot of time in his office just yapping. HE IS THERE FOR HIS STUDENTS!!!! If you try to succeed in this course you will. The biggest thing is that you can't coast by. Also, if you want to KNOW the material, take his class. I was explaining anatomy to a first year medical student after only taking A&P 1, months after the class ended. It's long term memory stuff. Biggest note: USE STUDY STATMENTS. He takes all of his quiz and exam questions directly from those. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BIO 2401 - Dr. Taylor is very passionate about anatomy and knows the material like the back of his hand. However, this can be a negative aspect since Dr. Taylor wrote the book used in the course and is so knowledgeable that he can expect the same from his students. While Dr. Taylor is extremely available, hosting office hours every day and numerous times, the material is something to take seriously. You can be expected to look at the material daily, especially over weekends, to stay ahead of the class. EXAMS: There are 3 chapter exams and a final exam. All of them are cumulative (up to twenty chapters worth of material covered on the final). The exams were worth 45% of the class, with an option to drop an exam in exchange for making the final exam worth more. Each chapter exam is composed of 50 multiple-choice questions answered on a scantron. The questions are supposedly made up from the "study statements" provided by Dr. Taylor, a lengthy document of over 200 true statements from the chapter. When studying for the exams, Dr. Taylor advises the study statements as the best way to study, but I rarely utilize them. It is impossible to memorize 200 statements per chapter, so I recommend doing practice questions (End of Chapter Questions (EOC) are provided, and the Connect Homework (although not made by Dr. Taylor himself, and albeit covers more material than required) allows for good practice tests). If you just read over the statements, you'll go into the exam thinking you know more than you do. I got a 62 on the first exam because I did not study till the last minute, and I scrambled to read the study statements the night before. For the following exams, including the final, I redid the Connect homework, answered the EOC questions, and covered the key concepts highlighted by Dr. Taylor in his test reviews (in which he covers the key terms for every question on the exam). You could say I enacted negative feedback (preview for the class lol) by then getting an 84 (exam 2), 72 (exam 3), and 83 (final) on the following exams. The exam results are usually out the same afternoon as the test, and review sessions are held afterward, with students allowed 20 minutes to observe their exam and ask questions. QUIZZES AND PPTs: Much of the lecture and lab relies on clickers (required purchase). The clickers are used to take attendance and give quizzes. Attendance is taken for lecture (taken on the dot, not a minute early or late), lab prep, lab, and theory lab (recitation). I cannot stress enough how pertinent timely attendance is; if the class starts at 8:00 am and you arrive at 8:01 am, you are late. Attendance is part of the 50 participation points (worth 5% of your total grade) that can help magically boost your grade at the end of the semester alongside following instructions on the assignments and participation. Dr. Taylor gives roughly four chances throughout the semester to regain lost participation points by completing crossword puzzles. The lecture quizzes consist of 5 multiple-choice questions, and you drop one quiz for every four taken. Towards the end of the semester, once at least twenty overall quizzes have been taken, replacement quizzes will be given to replace bad quiz grades, which only helps your grade. These quizzes are quick, and even with less than 10 minutes left in class, Dr. Taylor will squeeze in a quiz. If the weekly schedule mentions a quiz, study for it. LAB: Some chapters for the book are not covered in class but are focused on in the attached lab section. The lab was originally worth 40% of the overall grade, but Dr. Taylor stated it was bumped up a bit to help our grades. The lab includes weekly clicker quizzes (10 multiple-choice questions) over the material covered in the previous class and midterm and final practical exams. Utilize the time in the lab to familiarize yourself with the models since you will most likely not get to see the models in person until the exam. The midterm and final practicals are HARD; you must study the PowerPoint extensively. I recommend using flashcards to study the muscles and bones, and taking pictures of the models is especially helpful since those are practically the exam questions. The practicals are 50 free response questions covering mainly identification-type questions, with the models tagging specific parts or an image printed on the test paper. Be as specific as possible when answering these questions because you can lose points by not being detailed enough: the more written, the better. To help your lab grade, the final practical can replace the grade of the midterm practical if it is better. The lab grade is significant, worth 40%, and can help raise your overall average, especially when the lecture portion may drag you down. EXTRA OPPORTUNITIES: Despite the groans of my classmates, my section performed better than previous semesters (Dr. Taylor legitimately showed us graphs proving the statistics haha), which put the idea of a curve in jeopardy. A CURVE IS NOT GUARANTEED, AND IT IS NOT MENTIONED IN THE SYLLABUS. In Dr. Taylor's own words, when compared to previous semesters, if the final grades are not as expected, "modifications will be made." The total grade calculation is restricted on Canvas, and Dr. Taylor occasionally posts your calculated grade "without modifications." Dr. Taylor also does not look at nor release the averages of any of the exams and instead waits till the end of the semester to determine whether a curve is justified. The average final grade of the class was 82, with 52 out of 169 receiving an A. After slight changes, new graphs were revealed, with 55 people receiving an A, so something was modified. Right before the end of the semester, Dr. Taylor provided ten extra points (never specified what the points go toward) to students who printed out proof of their completed course evaluations. Dr. Taylor also stated that those bonus points have helped people get to another letter in the past, so these points might have been the "slight curve" we received despite performing much better than in previous semesters. When I calculated my grade following the totals provided in the syllabus, I was at an 87, but according to Dr. Taylor, my final grade was a 92. Anatomy and Physiology is a difficult but rewarding class; if you put in the effort, you will come out of the class a different person. Be prepared to sleep, eat, and breathe anatomy because although Dr. Taylor is tough if you can conquer this class, you can succeed in almost anything. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - I am going to be completely transparent...this is a HARD class, one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. When people tell you it is hard they mean it. However, it is not impossible. The whole semester I worked very hard, stayed up late, studied, prioritized this class, spent money on a tutor, went to his office hours, any thing you think could be done to help I did. Dr. Taylor is one of the sweetest professors and he clearly loves what he does. Trust me when I say he doesn't intend to make your life hell. Throughout high school I was a straight A, honors graduate, senior class president student (not saying this to brag, saying this to show you that I have always done well in school). This class made me feel like an actual idiot, not saying this to scare you, I'm saying it to prepare you. It's the type of class where if you get it you get it, if you don't you don't. However, my recommendations to success in this class are, GO TO CLASS (PPTs are the holy grail at the end of semester). If you do well in Lab it will also help your grade tremendously. To help those who are reading this and are worried, I got a 42 on my first exam, a 62 on the 2nd and 3rd, and a 59 on the final. Yet, here I am passing the class with a B. Why? THE PPTs. They are no joke. I also did really well in the Lab which is what ultimately helped my grade. Literally, the night before the final I was calling my mom crying because I didn't even think I was going to get a C. Also, trust me when I say this the final is a lot easier, in the sense that it is very DIRECT. Many people will tell you to study the study statements, that may help you in the 1st and 2nd exams. The 3rd and final personally I don't think it would. Memorizing the study statements did not work for me, but you really have to find what works best for you. To summarize this long message, trust me that if you work hard (harder than you ever have) and really make sure that you clearly want to pass this class then you will. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:BIO 2401/2402 - I had Dr. Taylor for BIO 2401 and BIO 2402. He is a super sweet man who genuinely cares about his students and their learning ability but I feel like he makes these classes hard for no reason. I have friends who love his class and I have friends who hated this class. His teaching style is coming into class and lecturing based on the chapter he is going to cover that day (listed on a schedule in the syllabus). He provides BROAD slides that just help to guide his lectures but I never used those to study. He gives quizzes a lot but some can be dropped at the end of the semester. I studied really hard for his class and stayed up countless hours to only make a “B” in 2401 and a “C” in 2402. 2402 is harder than 2401 and he curves it less (if he even decides to curve it at all). My best advice is to read the chapter before class and take notes in the margins of your textbook instead of writing everything out pretty (it wastes time) and make the study statements into quizlets where you have to fill in the blank to complete the statement. He is very available for office hours although his analogies and his ways of explaining things might not always help. He takes pride in how hard his class is, which is frustrating because my friends at other schools got easy “A’s” in their anatomy classes while still learning the same information. A lot of his test questions are based off of the study statements and they are in the format of “Which statement is false…?” where he will falsify one of the study statements slightly. There is not a lot of assigned homework but if you want to do well in this class you basically need to eat, sleep, and breathe anatomy so you should be reading the textbook and taking notes a lot. I wish you all good luck! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:BIO 2401 - All of the comments made here about Dr. Taylor have a degree of truth to them. I agree that he is an excessively tough professor, and that he is a wonderful person but a very scatterbrained teacher. He is a brilliant man and expects his students to rise to the occasion. The actual homework is very light, it's mostly infinite-attempts and open book, but the studying is what will dominate your life. What you put into this class is what you will get out of it. He offers a few different ways to study, but you won't understand the information in the book until he explains it in class, because the book is written very confusingly. The class requires an insane amount of discipline to pass, and a lot of perserverence because none of the topics will be easy to understand the first time. His exams and quizzes (lots of quizzes) are mostly verbatim from the Study Statements for each chapter, which are 100-300 true statements about various topics in the material. If you want to pass this class, you must read and breathe and live by the Study Statements. This class is tough, it is not impossible. I have friends who say that it's an impossible class and that he demands too much, but they only skim the (very dense) material and then expect to understand it immediately and get mad when they don't. If you can't push through confusion and dedicate yourself to learning material that scares you, you won't make it through this class. If you're willing to spend 3-5 hours daily studying for this class, you'll come out the other end with a vast understanding of the human body and an appreciation for the complexities of our biology. TAKEAWAY: don't take this class if you're unwilling to work hard - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - Please retire already. I did everything that reviews say, as far as studying goes, yet still get a D. Terrible. - Grade In Class:D
Comments:2401 - Dr. Taylor is a wonderful professor! Was the class hard? Yes. But hard work pays off in this class. If you spend time reading the textbook and do all of the study statements, you will do just fine in the class. This class is hard and people tend to blame it on the teacher, but Dr. Taylor is a great professor and the sweetest old mad who is passionate about what he teaches and wants to do whatever it takes to help his students succeed, so if you're failing the class, thats on you. This class really prepares you for if you are someone who is going into the medical field. Overall, I loved Dr. Taylor and you will learn a lot if you take this class! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - All of the Dr. Taylor hate is unjustified. He is an excellent professor and really works to connect with his students. His class is extremely hard but if you do the study statements and read his textbook, you will be just fine. You have to consistently put in work and can't wait to the last minute to study for tests. Enjoy his class because it is fascinating and don't get discouraged. You've got this! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401+2402 - Got an A+ in both 2401 and 2402. Yes, this class is very hard. Yes, you will need to put in the work. But you learn soo much and Dr. Taylor is amazing. He is super helpful during office hours and goes above and beyond to make sure you understand the material. A lot of people fail this class but honestly if you're going into a healthcare profession, you shouldn't look for an easy way out of a subject such as A&P, and you should be willing to put in the work . There’s no graded hw which really gives you time to study all the material. THE TEXTBOOK WILL HELP YOU and if you learn all the concepts, you'll get 100's on exams. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - 2401 - I had to repeat this class twice as I had failed the first time by 2 points last semester. Mark Taylor is the nicest old man professor I have had at Baylor, but be warned his class is unlike any other and I have not had to work harder for a grade than ever before than while in Marks class. The class requires you to eat, sleep, breathe and cry anatomy all day long. His course required me to sacrifice other grades just to put in enough time to keep up with him. My mental health as a student has never been more depressed nor anxious and I am 90% sure this man is the sole cause I developed test anxiety. I have cried, vomited and hyperventilated just over every grade this man put into our gradebook. Oh and disregard trying to calculate your grade, Its a long and complex formula so you never truly know with where you stand in his course. But looking back on it now, I am grateful for the pure misery this man made my life (a little stockholm syndrome I know), He made me sure as heck I want to pursue a career in medicine and the stuff he teaches is actually quite interesting. If you are willing to put in the work it will show in your gradebook, If I could share some tips with probably the freaked out freshman reading this I would say: 1. Do study statements - Yes they are annoying as all can be and seem useless but these are where he pulls his material for test day. Do these each chapter till your fingers are numb. 2. There is a drop test - Do not freak out. He will drop your lowest exam score so take it as a learning point when you dont get that score you want. He drops 1 in 4 quizzes and you will take over 45 quizzes in a semester - Keep track of scores on a sheet to stay up to date with your averages in the course. 3. DO LAB - he has no real control over his lab anymore, it is easy - keep up and treat lab as its own class. It is the reason I was able to get higher than what I thought I would make 4. DONT RELY ON HIS CURVE - his curve is higher than snoop dog, but doesnt mean you should ride it and not put the effort in. The curve is only going to help you if you have a good grade going into the class at the end (I had a C, he curved me from a C+ TO THEN a B) 5. Read the chapter twice three times or even four - You wont absorb this information in one go. To the freshman reading this, I know you got it and it is scary, But I have never felt more prepared for Nursing School than ever. Thanks for the trauma but the skills to succeed Mark Taylor. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2401 - So I am not going to lie. I failed this class the first time because I did not know what I was doing. It is hard, will stretch you, and ultimately question if you are doing the right thing. If you really want to, YOU WILL PASS. He has so many office hours that you can attend and I found them more helpful than the lectures. The lectures I often found to be a waste of time, but lab will boost your grade a bunch if you put in the effort. You probably will shed a few tears in this class, but if you do the study statements, do well in the lab, and go to office hours, you will be ok. Am I glad I got through this class successfully? Yes. Do I have a little bit of PTSD? Also yes. However, it taught me how to study and made me sure that nursing was the right career for me. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2401/2402 - Anyone who tells you the Dr. Taylor is a horrible professor is wrong. He truly does set you up for nursing school and you genuinely learn how to learn. I think lots of people taking this class believe it should be easy and require minimal studying and 0 critical thinking skills. He is reasonable and kind, and loves teaching. Here's my recommendations: read the book, use the study statements and try to find why each one is true (I would read the book and try to figure out why that study statement was true), and go to office hours for any clarification or confusion. He will explain it more in depth or a different way that might make it easier. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BIO 2401 - I took this class a few years ago and I just felt that this info needed to be shared with the world. All of the stories you hear are 100% true. He is the most intense professor I have ever encountered. He expects you to eat, sleep, and breathe anatomy. He prides himself in the difficulty of his class. He loves that it is so difficult and that many people don't pass it the first time. After taking his class, I changed my major because I simply could not take another semester of him. He is a kind man, but a horrible teacher. He expects you to be at his level and if you are not, he acts like you are stupid. He would have many quizzes, a quiz every lecture day I believe, and the quiz answers would be on the board after the question was answered and you could see the distribution of how many students answered correctly and he would look at the board and say "well this question was easy because...". This made everyone who had gotten the question wrong feel stupid and inferior. This class is definitely passable, but you need to be ready to spend HOURS each day on this one class. Also, the only "study tool" that he provides is what he calls "study statements" which are just 200-300 true statements about the content. There are around 200 study statements for each chapter. It is an insane amount of information and it is incredibly difficult to digest. He also makes his tests nearly impossible. Each question on the test is "Which statement is false?", with 5 answer choices that are all statements about any of the content from that unit. This makes it incredibly difficult to do well because it requires that you fully understand all of the content taught. For example, if you understood Chapter 1, but struggled a bit with chapter 2, you could do very poorly on the test because each question has content from each chapter in the unit. I apologize for my rambling but I need to share one story that truly proves this man's relentlessness. In the fall of 2020 when I was taking this class, in the middle of a lecture, a student approached Dr. Taylor and whispered something to him. He then followed the student into the hallway and many of us saw this student having a seizure. After he called the ambulance and waited with the student until they got medical attention, he RETURNED TO CLASS AND LECTURED FOR ANOTHER 30 MINUTES UNTIL CLASS WAS OVER. LIKE WHAT??? This was also during COVID and despite the university policy stating that attendance could not be required in classes, he required attendance and would count against you if you were not in class. In conclusion, LISTEN TO THE WARNINGS AND RUN. - Grade In Class:D
Comments:Bio 2401 - Literally cannot express this enough to you- DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN'S CLASS!!! He is a wonderful person but truly needs a hobby. This semester, we had 40+ quizzes. That is not ethical whatsoever. One day, he literally gave us a quiz A MINUTE before we got out of the class. He has zero respect for your time and thinks that HIS class is more important than any other class you're enrolled in. I'm trapped now; I have to retake his class at Baylor because of academic forgiveness not allowing me to take it elsewhere. I wish Baylor didn't have a tenure policy otherwise I would report him to the dean. His exams are ridiculously hard. Most people fail, yet he always has the nerve to say "someone got a 100" or before the exams he says "it will be easy to get a 100." There's a reason he won't give out test averages. MOST OF US ARE FAILING. BAYLOR- DO SOMETHING ALREADY! WE ARE TIRED OF THIS! - Grade In Class:F
Comments:2401 and 2402 - Where do I even start? Dr. Taylor has good intentions; he really wants his students to learn, and he loves engaging with students. I appreciate his good intentions and dedication. However, I have never had to put worker work into a subject in my entire life. I eat, sleep, and breathe anatomy. If you really want to have a great grasp of anatomy take this class but I am warning you about the extreme workload.UPDATE: I have finished 2401 and 2402, and I have to say 2402 has more details when it comes to physiology, whereas 2401 has a broader focus on physiology and more focus on anatomy. What I can recommend: READ THE STUDY STATEMENTS!! Yes there are a lot of them but they are almost verbatim the tests and quizzes. The way I used them was to read the book twice and really understand it. Then, I would go into my study statements and write next to each one why it was correct. If there was one that I didn't understand, I would just skip it and go to the next one. The following day, I would then look back on the ones I skipped and try to find why they are true in the book. Also GO TO OFFICE HOURS!!! Ask him about study statements, he LOVES it! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:bio 2401 - DO NOT TAKE DR TAYLOR FOR ANYTHING. This man is a horrible teacher. yes he has office hours but they do not help. he makes the class almost impossible. he basically expects you do to absolutely nothing but anatomy work 24/7 every day monday-sunday to even be able to grasp any understanding for the course material. take anatomy at MCC or some other community college. you’re expected to read 2-3 chapters a week that are at least 20+ pages on top of lab and other assignments. AGAIN DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS OR ANY CLASS HE IS TEACHING!!!!!!!!! - Grade In Class:C
Comments:BIO 2401 - (unsure of grade yet) TAKE BIO 2401 AND 2401 AT A COMMUNITY COLLEGE! Please don't waste your time in Dr. Taylor's class. I'm grateful for his rigor and availability after class, but his lectures are actual torture. He rambles a lot, quizzes us almost daily, and uses those god-awful clickers. We have to 'click' in for attendance and use them for quizzes. His quizzes are based off of the study statements. The study statements are 150-200 true sentences for each chapter. We learn 2-3 chapters each week and it is IMPOSSIBLE to remember every study statement. Each quiz only has 5 questions so I am averaging a 40% on each quiz. A&P is extremely hard and he doesn't really make an effort to help you understand. His teaching is archaic; he's been teaching this same class since 1988. Not to be rude, but I hope he retires soon so we can get a better professor. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2401 - Dr. Taylor is probably one of the most intelligent professors I have ever met. His class is A LOT of work. I had to retake the class because I didn't put in the work the first time. It's really important that you do the optional crosswords because it really tests how well you know the content. As I've told and been told, Dr. Taylor's class isn't about do you know the content. It's about how well you know the content. If he could ask you a question about anything in the chapter, you have to be able to answer it without hesitation. He's very available. He has office hours pretty much every day, and he's very good at explaining his study statements if they don't make any sense. Another recommendation for his class is reading ahead in the chapter, doing the end-of-chapter questions, reading through the study statements (and writing WHY they're true underneath is SO helpful. It helped me pass the second time), and doing the optional crosswords. Overall, I would say that Dr. Taylor's class is probably the most beneficial class I will ever take. It really weeds out the people who are willing to put in the work to go to nursing school, and those who are not. I would also recommend taking medical terminology before taking his class - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2401 - Get ready to make anatomy and physiology your life in this semester if you take this class. Yes, I understand its anatomy and physiology, but it was one of the most mentally exhausting classes I have taken so far as a student. Not because it was hard to learn and grasp concepts and read the material, but because this class requires you spend hours and hours learning about every single detail of the human body. For the final exam, I spent a total of 4 days with about 5-9 hours each day studying to hopefully pass the final. Luckily to my surprise. I made a 72 on the final exam, and lets just say it had never made me so happy in my life academic wise. The professor. Dr. Taylor is a wonderful and caring person. He is very passionate about his work and he wants the best for every single one of his students and will go out of his way to help you. I have emailed him countless times throughout the semester and he has gotten back to me within less than a day. His helpfulness can help you tremendously through his analogies and mnemonics that may help you learn for certain topics or concepts you might not understand. His office hours are basically almost every weekday and he is almost always available to help. I understand this class is supposed to be very challenging. However, there might a reason as to why it is. All the hopeless reviews of telling you to change majors on here are from the students that he weeded out, for a reason. I don't suspect without a doubt that nursing school will be easy. So this class more than prepares you to put in the work in the future classes you will take. Dr. Taylor uses a point system for participation. This system is earned through answering oral questions, and finishing crossword puzzles at the end of every exam. These points will help you get a better grade on your exams. You will want to get as much participation points as possible, because this will be divided amongst the 8 exams you will have. For instance, the class pool had an average of 64 points per person. There are 8 exams. You will get 8 extra points added to your test. This is YOUR curve for each exam. He does not give out curves based on the grades of the exams, but only through the particpation points. Is it fair? Who knows. Just focus on getting as much participation points by the end of the semester so you don't have to worry too much. As for the oral questions, during random times during the class, don't be surprised if he randomly draws out a list of names to ask you questions based on the material. These questions are straight forward, so try to learn the material as soon as possible. If you get the question wrong, you will lose points. If you get them right, you will gain a point. However, he is very lenient on how many points he may give for a question. Sometimes he may add that the question will be worth 3 points. So if you are prepared to answer it and get 3 points, go for it. Assignments - Dr. Taylor loves to give out assignments online over the chapter. They do take up alot of your time, because they are mostly over the chapter, so I would definitely suggest that you read the chapter ahead of time. But also, there are averaging about 50 questions that you should answer. He does give enough time to finish the assignments, however, the negative aspect is that you necessarily don't benefit from doing the assignments. You can get punished however, if you get x amount of questions wrong within that assignment. I have lost participation points from getting two or three questions wrong from these assignments, but it didn't make such a big impact on my grade. Quizzes - He gave out a total of 40 quizzes in the semester. The quizzes are short. 5 questions, you will need to literally understand the chapter fully. These are multiple choice, so you might think it should be easy, however, the questions are based off of "which answer is false?". The answer questions could have nothing to do with each other, but you should have the ability to choose which answer choice should be false. Again, these are 5 questions per quiz. So if you miss one, thats an 80. Missing two is already failing. Just a note, I had failed almost half of my quizzes that I had taken in this class, and had gotten an average of an A for this quiz average. So, you will learn how to take his quizzes and will start to do much better on them as you move on into the middle of the semester. Just a note, he does use clickers for attendance and for taking the quizzes, so you may have limited time on answering the questions. Now for the exams. My first exam I literally got a 47. I was devastated because I thought I was studying diligently for the first exam and had taken all his advice on what to study from his review zoom sessions that he holds before we take the exam. So don't be surprised if you get an absolutely horrible grade for your first test. After receiving our first exam grades and everyone worrying and panicking, the quote that still stuck with me was that he said "water under the bridge", and I think he was right. You shouldn't forget about it, but disregard it because you should do better on the next exam and should study more diligently. As for the content on the exam, be prepared to know basically everything from the chapters that the exam is over. The questions are mostly "which one is false?" questions with answers ranging from various topics just like the quizzes. So you will need to know which answer choice is correct from your studying. The lab - very easy lab. Mostly crossword puzzles (that are grades and not counted toward the participation points) and a few oral questions maybe, some quizzes which count toward the overall 40 quizzes in the semester. Just make sure you put time into learning every single bone and muscle because you will be quizzed on it. The lab practicals however, were not fun. I failed both practicals, for a reason. The time in between the exams and lab practicals were only about less than a week, so you barely had any time to study for these practicals. Also to note, the first practical will be dropped if you do better on the final lab practical. So I wouldnt stress too much about it, however, you should always try your best. STUDY ADIVCE - Read the textbook. Very obvious, but alot of students will not read all of the chapter. Make sure you understand the concepts, the physiology, almost every single detail within that chapter. Use the "topics for the chapter" pages to truly understand everything and the concepts surrounding the terms. Dr. Taylor does give out study statements for each of the chapters and there are about 200 statements per chapter, however, I barely paid any attention to it to help me study. I think I definitely shouldve taken a look at the study statements more often, because he does use those study statements for the quizzes and most of the exam. With the textbook, I first highlighted the content that I thought should be important as I read it, then went back through every single section within that chapter and would create questions on a document to test myself and to recall. For example, you would read "The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell". I would type on my document "The mitochondria is the _____________ of the cell" and would use my tablet to answer the questions and would actively recall those concepts by walking around my room and talking to myself. This is what worked for me. IT might not work for you, so I'm not actually advising you on doing the same. Try it, and maybe it might work. I did that for every section of every chapter for the terminology and the physiological aspects. This is what landed me a 70-80 raw score on the next two exams and the final as well. Also, if you really care about your grade, please go and review over the missed questions on your exams when possible. My second and third tests I had bumped up my score by almost 5-10 points by pointing out grading errors from the scantron. This will probably happen if you erase your answers for a different one. I'm super satsified with my grade. However, is it worth it? Well it depends. Your classes apart from anatomy may become almost non-existent for you. I barely had any opportunity to put much time into the other classes for the sake of anatomy. This is where pressure builds up, so please stay diligent and calm. Goodluck and do not give up. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2401 - Anatomy and Physiology is a tough class, to begin with. With that being said Dr.Taylor has his pros and cons. He is very available and does want to help you. He is an incredible lecturer and knows the information. Dr.Taylor gives you a lot of little mnemonics and analogies to learn the information. But sometimes these come off as geared toward one type of student. If you are an extensive application and picture-based student you will do very well in this class. But if you are more of an in-words kind of person it might be a little difficult. I you keep up on your readings and do the study statements and word list like he says you should be ok. But, that often doesn't work for every student which is what makes this class even more difficult. The daily clicker quizzes and random oral questions in class add a lot of anxiety and make it hard to feel comfortable and confident in class. In addition, you can not write on the exam paper for the practical or the in-class exams which makes it hard to stay focused on which question you are on. Overall. Dr.Taytlor is a really nice and incredible person, however, his class is really hard. I would not recommend talking about this class with any other STEM or hard class because you will focus all of your attention and time on this class. The practicals are the hardest exams I have ever taken, but the lecture exams are not as terrible as they appear. They are all application based though. For me, I focused a lot on his study statements and then brain-dumped, them while including the words from the word lists in the textbook. Which for me really helped with the exams. For quizzes study statements and pictures are HUGE. Go to office hours he is really nice and will explain things 100 times if he has, just as long as you get it he doesn't care how long it takes. However, I will say this class caused me a lot of anxiety and stress, so stay up on your work and you should be ok. You all got this don't be intimidated by this class. But DO NOT think it will be a walk in the park or anything like a high school class. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2401 - It’s no secret that this class is very hard, but I want to point out that what you put into this course you will get out. That being said, you must spend a lot of time on this class in order to succeed. Dr. Taylor actually makes learning about A&P very interesting and because of that, I found it easier to study because I was interested in the material. Everyone saying that Dr. Taylor wants you to succeed is not wrong. He is truthfully the most available and helpful Professor I have ever had. He WANTS to meet with you, he doesn’t feel like he has to. He is very responsive, even with classes with almost 200 students. His efforts to try to remember our names when we came to talk to him don’t go unnoticed. My best tip for this class is to stay on track with what is in lecture. Don’t fall behind reading the chapters & read the study statements before the quizzes! They will truly help your understanding of the material! Also you should almost religiously read the study statements before the test. Although that may not be true for everyone, that was my key to success!! Dr. Taylor’s class is difficult but as a professor, he is one of the best. The difficulties endured in his class will only make you a better student and better prepared for your future career. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401/2402 - Hard class, but he really wants you to succeed. Loved him and the class! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2402 - To preface, this is not an easy class. Professor Taylor is an amazing human, and really wants all of his students to succeed, but he does not make that an easy task. Exams are multiple choice. However, do not, I repeat, do not rely on the powerpoints. The best way to study for his class is to read, read, read, read over and over the textbook chapters. Make sure you know the chapters and make sure you can correlate questions and answers because he very much will attempt to trick and test your knowledge. This was easily the hardest class I've ever taken. I spent more time studying for this class than all of the rest of my classes combined. Exams are no longer cumulative, but the final exam was, I believe, half cumulative and half over the last unit. Dr. Taylor is always available and willing to answer any and all questions you have, and you can absolutely see his joy in the subject. Having this class at 8 am killed me inside, but this class absolutely prepares you for nursing school. If you are looking for an easy A, taking this at Baylor is not the choice for you because he is the only professor that teaches this class. Make sure you attend classes!!!!! He has 'magic points' that are participation points in attendance, quizzes, crosswords, etc. These points make a MAJOR difference in your grade at the end of the semester. Oh, most of his exams he will not curve until the end of the semester, so don't plan on knowing what your true grade is until the very very end. After all the exams were curved, and he added the magic points, which mind you, also curve the exams on top of the general exam curve, brought me from a C, not knowing if I was going to pass the class, to a mid-high B. Again, READ THE TEXTBOOK AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HIS WILLINGNESS TO HELP BECAUSE YOU WILL NEED IT. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2401/2402 - Taylor is a really passionate professor who has been teaching these courses at Baylor for almost 4 decades now. There are weekly Cross Word Puzzles with anywhere from 25-40ish clues on each one pertaining to the Chapter(s). This is the hardest class I have ever taken. The majority of this course is centered around the Physiology of the body. It is very intricate and very specific and the exams and quizzes are super tricky. You need to know the textbook and his study statements super well if you want to pass. (His study statements are all true statements about the unit that he'll post with every chapter. There are usually around 200 and he will pull from these to make his quizzes and exams.) There are usually 2-3 units/chapters per exam which means there is a ton of reading and studying to do. Exams and quizzes are all multiple choices. Time management has a lot to do with how well you do in this course. I wasn't the best at it and my grade sorta reflected that. It can be very frustrating after grinding away at this course and its dense material to not pass the exams. Sometimes it seemed like I'd need to study 6 hours a day, have no personal life, and no friends in order to succeed in Taylor's class. Part of me still believes that. Taylor is almost always available every day. When he is not in lecture or dropping in on a lab he is there during his office hours (on Zoom) to answer any questions. He is very patient and knowledgeable and if you ask the right questions and are caught up on the material you will get the answer you're looking for. The advisors in the nursing program and some of the people writing ratings on here might say that this class prepares you for the nursing school, but if you want to get to nursing school, I'd recommend taking A/P at a community college or elsewhere. - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:2401 &2402 - this man ruined my life. I have always been a good student and I have always been a quick learner. I think that I cried like every other day because of him. He caused me so much unnecessary stress. The thing that frustrates me about this class is that the tests are literally just a bunch of random facts. For his class you literally just have to memorize a bunch of RANDOM facts. It is so disorganized that you basically learn nothing. He is a very sweet man so I kind of feel bad about writing such a poor review, but he also is the worst. The only people that I know that ever received an A in his class were people that literally had no life. All they did was study for this class. Like literally. My roommate would spend 5+ hours a day studying. If you can avoid taking 2402 at Baylor with him, do it. Because I much rather have a semester full of memories with friends where I am happy and actually learning information that I will retain than spend a full semester crying every other day due to stress. And if you're worried that not taking 2402 at Baylor will be detrimental to nursing school, I literally don't remember a thing from his class and nursing school isn't hard at all. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2401/2402 - I don't even know where to start with this class or this man. Dr. Taylor's anatomy sections, and all the hours of studying that have gone with it, have simultaneously involved some of my favorite and least favorite memories of sophomore year. The content is so intricate that I couldn't help but being blown away by God's handiwork, but I also wanted to give up and run out of that lecture room every morning at 8 am. Definitely the hardest two classes I've ever taken (I thought 2402 was going to be better since it took me all of 2401 to figure out how to study for this, but nope it was somehow harder). The other reviews about having weekly mental breakdowns are consistent with my experience :/ but with that being said, truly my best advice would be to give yourself grace throughout this messy process and know when to stop studying. At some point, doing all 1000ish study statements, the CWPS, the media gallery videos, the APR sets, and the reading for each unit is just simply not worth the sacrifice to your sleep and mental health!! (though do do a little of all those things, especially reading the textbook, bc he wrote it himself). It took me up till literally the last few tests of 2402 to get to the mental state where I could simply go to bed and be even somewhat at peace with whatever the outcome of the exam was, and I wish I hadn't been so worried about failure earlier. Beyond just trying to take care of yourself, even though his class has not been my favorite in any way, Dr. Taylor really is one of the sweetest, funniest, most helpful, ICONIC professors I've encountered at Baylor (count how many times he speaks of cycling and write down his numerous puns). Don't hesitate to take advantage of his resources! He has 27438 office hours every week, he answers emails super fast, and his exam reviews are literally ESSENTIAL as he'll tell you what every question is about to guide your studying (there's simply way too much content to review it all for each exam). also even though the 8 ams killed me a little inside, the ppts for attendance are worth it because they ~will~ raise your grade at least half a letter grade!! if you study smarter rather than harder and keep up the ppts, you'll make it through just fine:) - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401/2402 - If you're a nursing major, do not take this class at MCC or anywhere else. You won't learn everything you need to for nursing school, and you won't be nearly as prepared for the future. If you aren't willing to put in the work to succeed in this man's class, you shouldn't go to nursing school. Seriously, school isn't going to get any easier after this class, so either deal with it or change your major! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - Where to begin... Dr. Taylor is a nice guy with good intentions. He's knowledgable about anatomy and wants to see his students succeed. That being said, dude is SO unorganized. His keys on tests tend to be wrong, he'll input your grades wrongs, etc. You really need to double check everything he does; I've sent so many emails asking him to fix things. If I didn't do that, my grade would've suffered. Also, if you have to quarantine, GOOD. LUCK. This man will literally make you come into his office WHILE you're in quarantine to make up quizzes. I did get an A in this class. That's because I read the textbook and taught myself. Again, Dr. T is a nice guy, but he frustrated me a lot. He does provide a lot of extra credit, though, which is the reason I succeeded in his class. Pay attention, do all the extra credit, try your best. You'll probably be fine - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - I'm not even in this mans class anymore. I was last year but he left such a terrible taste in my mouth that I'm coming back just to give a warning to incoming nursing students. Dr. Taylor is a sweet guy, maybe nice to have him as a neighbor, or someone to stand in line with.. but not a teacher. He has a superiority complex that trumps any desire to actually teach students, he wants to prove that he knows more than you and wants to "humble" you as well. Basically, he wants to weed out the weak- but the problem is.. nobody is weak and unable to become a nurse. The fact that failing this class because of his ego could prevent someone from fulfilling their dream career and HELPING people is terrible. If you can dedicate maybe 3 hours every night to this class, be ok with having 0 free time, and you're ok with having more mental breakdowns than you might have ever had- then have fun! I admire your work ethic, but if you want to receive a BETTER education of the course.. take it at MCC or literally anywhere else. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2401/2402 - Dr. Taylor is an incredible professor who has a strong passion for Anatomy and Physiology! I was nervous going into this class because of the horror stories I've heard from his past students now at the Nursing School in Dallas. This class is extremely time consuming and takes a ton of studying. But if I can finish with an A, you can too. My biggest piece of advise would be do go to EVERY SI session where you'll complete packets that cover the key concepts of each chapter. I solely relied on these packets to study for my exams and got mostly B's and some A's on his exams. There are daily quizzes from 200+ Study statements for each chapter that he posts to canvas. I usually only looked over these two or three times and was able to end with a 94 quiz average. For his lab and lecture midterm and final I made quizlets covering all chapters with SI notes, Lecture PowerPoint notes and Lab manual info. These helped me solidify the information tremendously. Good luck! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - I absolutely LOVED this class and Dr. Taylor. Please believe me when I tell you that he is the sweetest man alive and wants more than anything to help you. He holds so many office hours, so definitely take advantage of this!! He will spend as much time as you need helping you, and he will never ever make you feel stupid for asking even a simple question. He genuinely wants you to succeed and will do whatever he can to help you do so. That being said, this class (as you have probably heard) is not easy. He designs it to be difficult. That isn’t a bad thing though… everyone taking this class is hoping to go to nursing school, PT school, or OT school, none of which are going to be any easier! He is simply trying to prepare you for what life in the medical field will be like. Needing to know every detail right off the top of your head is a daily occurrence in the medical field. If you don’t like his timed quizzes or specific test questions, maybe medicine isn’t for you! Overall, he just is trying to help and prepare his students. I can bet you anything that when he is making his tests and quizzes, he is thinking more about what would be most beneficial to us rather than what would absolutely kill our grades. He cares about his students way too much. Anyways, READ THE TEXTBOOK. PLEASE. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. Y’all he literally wrote the book… YOU HAVE TO READ IT. Reading it before class helps you understand the lecture, but regardless, you have to read it. He doesn’t mention every little thing you need to know in lecture; there just isn’t enough time. SI doesn’t mention every little detail either, so you really really really need to read the textbook, highlight, underline, take notes, whatever is most helpful to you. And about SI, I personally found it helpful. It’s just a great way to practice what you know and get clarification. Overall, if you are planning to take this class, please don’t go into it scared. I know you’ve probably heard a lot about how difficult it is, but believe me when I say that going into it with confidence and a strong desire to work hard will be much more beneficial to you. This class is so rewarding. Yes, you will spend a ton of time reading and studying. Yes, you might consider dropping the class or changing your major. Yes, even the smartest kids fail quizzes occasionally. BUT. Yes, you will still have free time!! And yes, you will do just fine if you put in the work and simply go talk to him! He wants to help you!! I highly recommend this class; it is my favorite that I have ever taken, and he is by far the best professor I have ever met. Good luck!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BIO 2401 - Dr. Taylor is by far the least affable professor at Baylor. Make sure you don't catch COVID or you will have an exam, lab practical and a ton of quizzes to catch up on when you return and he only gives you 3 days to do so when you have other classes to worry about. If you're thinking about taking Dr. Taylor's class because you did well in high school anatomy, please reevaluate your decision. Dr. Taylor will make your semester a living h-word and you will constantly be stressed out. Take 2401 and 2402 at a community college and save your money and unnecessary stress!!!!!!!!!! - Grade In Class:F
Comments:BIO 2401 - IF YOU ARE A STRESSED OUT/NERVOUS NURSING MAJOR READ THIS: I am not one of those naturally smart college people, and nursing is my dream. I heard all the scary rumors about this class and had a lot of anxiety leading up to it. These are my best tips for the class: Read the assigned reading before class. You won't know what he's talking about in lecture if you don't. He tends to go off on tangents in lecture, but still pay attention because he will talk for a long period of time explaining certain focus concepts in the lecture. There are quizzes mostly every class, which in total add up to be an exam grade. Do your best on these, but don't panic if you get 0's, 20's, 40's on them: He drops 1 for every 4. I think my quiz average was a C and I still finished with a B. He takes attendance every class using clickers, and closes it 15 seconds after the class begins so don't be late. Your attendance points will be added to your tests and quiz average at the end of the year so KEEP these. I think these points pushed my grade from a C to a B. I know 8 AM's suck, but do your best not to miss class. It's really easy to fall behind in this class, and come exam time you'll be really grateful you stayed on pace. The exams are challenging, you have to know the material very, very well. I would have to start studying a week in advance to be able to do decent on the exams, but there are many helpful resources. GO TO SI! Dr. Taylor talks with the SI leaders about the test, so they help you focus on the concepts you actually need to study. Dr. Taylor also hosts test reviews before each test. These are extremely helpful, as he goes through every single question and gives you an idea of the topic the question covers. Getting a C on Dr. Taylor's tests are VERY normal, so don't be discouraged if you only get around a passing grade. You will figure out how to study for the exams after the first one, so don't quit if you fail the first test. The labs weren't too bad in my opinion. But when he's quizzing you on labeling diagrams, MEMORIZE THEM NOW. There are so many labels to memorize and you don't want to save it all for the 2 Lab Practicals. The Lab Practicals are difficult, but I got a 48 on one and still ended with a B. (I did a lot better in lecture). Dr. Taylor is a very kind man. He has MANY office hours and NEVER makes you feel dumb. However, he won't round your grade or anything so avoid being in that position. MOST OF ALL: There will be days where you feel extremely discouraged in the class and stress about passing. But trust me when I say, IF I CAN DO IT, YOU CAN DO IT!!!! The class is one of the hardest at Baylor, but it is completely attainable to pass. If possible, try to take your easier courses the semester you take 2401/2402. Yes, the class is demanding, but I think people are dramatic when they say it takes away your free time. I managed to work hard in the class while still having free time. I would definitely have to do work on some weekends, but I usually just allotted time for that on Sunday. Once you figure out the layout of the class and the best methods for studying, you will surprise yourself at the way you pull through at the end! You can do it! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2401/2402 - Dr. Taylor is a wonderful man and a professor who truly cares about his students not only as future clincians, but also as human beings. He makes every lecture, chapter, and exam relevant to our future careers. He offers so many office hours every single day. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS!!! You can go into his office to ask questions about the reading, study statements, potential test questions, etc. He will let you review your exams after they are graded and is totally willing to run through concepts that you are still confused about. This class is not designed to be easy. Be ready to work for your grade! More importantly, work to really gain a thorough understanding of the material. It will bring you a long way. Do not fall behind on reading. The readings are essential to your understanding of the material and being present during lectures. Use the study statements Dr. Taylor provides. He designed them, so they'll help you get inside his head and be ready for his test questions. Do not miss class because he asks oral questions, takes attendance, gives quizzes (sometimes multiple), all of which contribute to your PPTs. Try to keep all the PPTs you can! They'll help your grade immensely at the end of the semester. GO TO SI!!! The resources you go through will help you identify the key topics you need to understand. This class will help tremendously with your time management skills. If yours aren't up to par yet, they will be by the end of this class. Stick with it. You can do this!!! It will be worth it. Dr. Taylor will be there to support you the whole way. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - Let's just put it straight forward. This class is hard and Dr. Taylor is amazing and loves his students. He is by far the best professor I have had at Baylor mostly because of how much he cares about his students and wants them to succeed. I kind of think of him as a big papa bear, and like any papa bear, he's not going to just make it easy for you to succeed; you have to work for it (possibly more than you work for every other class combined). His class definitely requires at least 2-4 hours of studying every single day, but if you are willing to put in the effort you will succeed. Dr. Taylor also has 17 office hours, so he is almost always available to answer your questions. Study groups are a BIG help! Find you some friends, teach each other, and learn from each other. By doing this it will make Dr. T's exams much easier because you will have a deeper understanding of the information. All in all, if you are a nursing major, take a deep breath and take one step at a time. You've got this! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - NURSING MAJORS LISTEN UP. You're in college now, and you momma isn't here to hold your hand. If you're committed to being a nurse and you want to excel in your future career, you need to put on your big girl(or boy!!) pants and learn how to succeed as a student. His lectures were not super helpful for me just because of my learning style, but this man knows virtually everything there is to know about the human body and WANTS TO SEE YOU SUCCEED. People commonly complain about the structure of his class because they think it's unnecessarily hard, but keep in mind everything he does is very intentional in helping us begin developing skills that will make us good healthcare professionals. The crossword puzzles he requires are tough, but they teach critical attention to detail that is necessary to survive in the medical field. Stay on top of your textbook readings and READ STUDY STATEMENTS. Half the time things will show up word for word on tests and quizzes. He will respond to emails in 10 minutes and hold 20 office hours a week. It's not his fault if students don't choose to use their resources wisely and advocate for themselves. Set multiple alarms so you're on time for class. DON'T LOSE PARTICIPATION POINTS BECAUSE THEY'LL SAVE YOUR LIFE. This class is considered a weed-out class for a reason, but find a study group, marry the Anatomy and Physiology textbook, GO IN TO OFFICE HOURS, GO TO SI, and I have no doubt you'll be more than fine. Effort and time spent engaging with the material strongly correlate to success. if you want the clout of being a Baylor nurse, you have to be willing to put in the work. Good luck and Godspeed my friends. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401/2402 - this class is challenging, I will say that. It is hard, but Dr. Taylor is the most helpful man. He really really cares about his students and their futures as nurses. If you want to succeed, please please go visit him in office hours (he has like 19 a week). I also advise going through the study statements Dr. T provides and explaining why they are true. Yes, Dr. T\'s class is very hard and I have most definitely shed some tears over it, but when you finish, you feel like you have learned a lot. Don\'t be scared of him, he truly is a kind person and very funny. I know i will stop by sometime next semester to just say hi. Oh, almost forgot. You must must read the text book. There is truly no way around it. He wrote it and it gets you used to the way he explains things. Sorry this is long lol. One last tip, start studying for the lab practical early, but don\'t be too hard on yourself if you do badly. ok, I\'m done. Good luck! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:A&P 2401 - I did not take this course at all. However, I had heard such horrible things about it, that I sat in on class about once a week to see what the problems were and if the complaints I heard were legit. My roommate also took this course. After observing this course and my roommate for a semester, I can fairly say this is one of the hardest and worst courses to take at Baylor, due to Dr. Taylor. As you have most likely read from other ratings, Dr. Taylor is a very nice, smart, and kind man. He knows this subject very well, and enjoys teaching it and being a professor in general. He has a great personality, and is a good, wholesome person. However, he is not a good professor. He does not design his class for learning, he designs it to stress his students out to the max. The crossword puzzles he assigns are not helpful at all. No one learns that way. The tru or false statements are very confusing and constantly have students guessing if they are reading and understanding the material correctly. And they can not show ups to lecture expecting for the difficult subjects in the book to be explained, as Dr. Taylor is a horrible, HORRIBLE lecture professor. I never took an exam in his class, so I can not speak on that matter. He will assign 2-5 quizzes in class about everyday, and expects his students to be able to speed read each question and answer it right off the top of their heads. Yes, answer questions about how the very complicated human body works right off the top of their heads. he gives them no time to think or even understand the question, which robs them of their learning experiences. As for my roommate, I have never seen a person that stressed out in my life. She did homework for this class for I would say about 4 hours per day, and finish her homework just to turn around and study for about 3 more hours, as the homework does not help with comprehension of the material or studying for exams/quizzes. She was having breakdowns all the time due to her stress from this class, and always felt as though she was "doing something wrong" because of the ridiculous rules the students in this class have to follow for completing/turning in homework (i.e. if you print something single sided instead of double sided, you won't get credit for the work and lose points.) I wanted to write this review, not to slam Dr. Taylor at all. As stated before and by all of his students, he is a caring, kind soul. However, his class design and teaching style are by far the worst I have ever seen. - Grade In Class:DROP
Comments:2301 - Dr. Taylor is a vey smart man. He is passionate about this subject. With that being said, Dr. T is just about the worst professor I have ever encountered in my life. There is no point in showing up to class, as his lectures are helpless. He goes off on random tangents. Sometimes, you will have 4 quizzes during one class period. You have to answer about 800 questions per week for homework, between the true and false statements and the cross words. He wrote the book himself, and it makes absolutely no sense. It makes doing the homework and studying 10X harder. His tests are extremely hard, and the pictures on the lab practical are purposely hard to identify. Please, take my advice and take this course at a community college and transfer it in. The class will still be difficult, as it is A&P, but Dr. T makes it nearly impossible. I have never dealt with so much anxiety and stress in my life before going into this class. I studied about 5 hours a day, every single day. And, not being done with the class, I retained almost nothing. The class is so intense that it make students cram as much information inside their brains as possible so they have the chance at passing his exams. Students retain very little from his class. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2401 - Take 2401 before 2402 no matter what. If you don't, you must read the ENTIRE book in one semester and if you see the material that is impossible. Do the VERY TIME!!! I studied a little bit everyday but honestly just winged the quizzes. You will get 100's you will get 20's but you will live. I started studying for his tests two weeks in advance, made my own study guides, and stayed organized. do not get behind in lab. I did this and got a horrible lab practical grade. You can do this, and getting out of here with your friends is so rewarding. Don't be afraid to ask fro help, Dr Taylor is the sweetest man - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - This class is a TON of work. I literally had to plan my whole life around this class. The actual homework is minimal, especially if you work with other people for the crosswords, but you really have to put all your time into reading and studying outside of class to learn the material. The lectures are difficult because Dr. T really likes to dive deep into topics that HE thinks are difficult, but hardly ever covers the most important parts of the chapter. There is a LOT of self teaching involved in this course, but he does give a good amount of extra materials that help if you're a visual learner (videos in the media gallery). This is not a class that you can pass on your own unless you have a photographic memory, and even then it will be tough. He makes himself available most of the week for office hours and he is really helpful if you ask the right questions. The tests are tough because he will try to trick you literally all the time. My best advice would be to focus on word association for vocab (!!!!!!! seriously do this !!!!!!!!), mnemonics, and making your own study guides by hand. Take advantage of SI, test reviews, and office hours because they will save your life. Also, KEEP ALL OF YOUR PARTICIPATION POINTS!!!!!!!! I LITERALLY CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!! PPTs are probably the only reason I got an A in this class. Good luck everyone! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2402 - Hardest yet most rewarding class you will ever take. Dr Taylor loves his students and wants you to succeed so take advantage of his 17 office hours a week! Keep up with your reading and have a positive attitude. You will probably cry a couple times a week but you will make it through. He is preparing you for nursing school and wants you to get the most out of it. If you have to take 2402 before 2401 it is a rollercoaster but can be done. Befriend students who have already taken his class and listen to their advice!!!! Keep your head up! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2401/2402 - These classes aren't meant to be easy A's, especially if you want to be a nurse... Dr. Taylor isn't kidding when he says he's just trying to prepare you for nursing school, I already went to nursing school and his exams did in fact prepare me. You can't just study definitions for the exam, you'll most likely fail that way. He is extremely helpful if you don't understand a certain topic, he is always willing to help and he is very approachable. Reading BEFORE class is pretty much the only way you'll understand what he's even talking about. There's a ton of quizzes and they'll either help your grade or ruin it if you don't study for them. just study some every day, this isn't a class you study for the night before and expect to do well... it's the human body, it's complex. Nursing school won't be any easier! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2402 - Dr. Taylor is such a sweet man who cares for his students, truly. However, I have never met a professor who takes pleasure in making things difficult for his students. He is always up for a challenge but... is it really THAT necessary? I wish I could have avoided taking his class but as a nursing student I had to. I'm taking 2401 online at MCC because I am most likely going to retake this course. However, if you end up being in the same boat as me, please understand that this is not a measurement of your ability to become a nurse. I'm doing great in every single other class, but this class is my worst. I'm not going to change my major nor encourage you to, accept the challenge and take it head on. Whether you come out with an A or an F, it will be worth it in the end. Go to his office hours, read the textbook, and no matter how tempting it is, do the crosswords yourself, they will help tremendously! - Grade In Class:F
Comments:2401 - This class will kill you and wreck your life. You will hear of people dropping the class and switching majors, be like those people and GET OUT OF THERE!!!!! People who make A's blow my mind. - Grade In Class:F
Comments:2402 - DO NOT TAKE. DROP OUT OF NURSING. - Grade In Class:F
Comments:2401 - This class is incredibly difficult, do not get me wrong. There are crosswords and 100+ true/false statements due for every chapter, and then lab on top of it all. You have to study so hard for these tests just to be able to get above a 50%. They are usually around 60 questions I think, and the questions with answers are just in a paragraph and you can't write in the test or you will loose points. Mucliple choice, A-E. There are lecture and lab quizzes, each section when totaled together are worth an exam grade. The SI is incredible helpful so make sure to go to those. Honestly, Dr. Taylor is such a sweet man and wants to do nothing but help you out, its just ridiculously difficult, he's just made this class so hard, but if you can make it through this you can do anything. Don't be discouraged by all the bad reviews because he wants to help you, Dr. Taylor is a phenomenal teacher, the class its self is just difficult. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2401 - THIS CLASS IS SO HARD IF U DONT HAVE FRIENDS WHO R TAKING THE CLASS WITH U, U WILL FAIL!!!! he is kind of, I mean kind of a nice guy but not when it comes to the work load and tests!!! don't take this class if not absolutely necessary - Grade In Class:D
Comments:2401/2402 - DR. TAYLOR IS WONDERFUL!!!!!!! Do NOT believe the lies people tel you and don't sweat!!!!! The class is hard, yes, but so is being a nurse, PT or OT! you didnt come to Baylor to be lazy. This class is literally the hardest class I've ever taken, but it really is worth it. It's literally the epitome of "you get out what you put in". Dr. Taylor is the most helpful and kind human beings to walk the earth. He wants you to succeed and prepare you for the school ahead of you! Really take advantage of his office hours for sure! thats probably the best advise I can give to you!! Additionally, get a tutor if you need to! Theres no shame in it and its helpful to get a fresh perspective on material! Do every assignment and don't miss class-- it really helps you out! Also, read ahead of class and make sure you understand what you read! this may take a couple reads if you're anything like me (and thats okay). Put in the time and you will see results!! Quizzes really help your grade if you prepare and perform well on them! OR they can really tank your grade! its up to you and I know you can do it!!!!! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2401 - DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! He is the worst professor at Baylor! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - Just change your major. This class is too hard - Grade In Class:F
Comments:2401/2402 - Dr. Taylor is my favorite professor I have ever had, however this will be the hardest class you will ever take in your life. Go to every office hour possible and ask questions. Know every word in each topic list at the end of each chapter. Go to every SI. If you do all of these things and read the chapters over and over again, you will be successful. The quizzes in 2401 are much easier than the quizzes in 2402. Dr. Taylor gives every possible resource for you to be successful. DO not skip class and make sure to do EVERY assignment, or your grade will suffer. I am very thankful for Dr. Taylor because he has taught me how to expand my mind and think in new ways. When you get through this class you will be thankful for all of the time that Dr. Taylor invests in his classes. As long as you read and UNDERSTAND the book, you will be successful. It will take more work in the beginning and then eventually you can calm down. All tests are multiple choice and each question only has one answer. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - Honestly, this class was hell. Dr. Taylor is an extremely nice man, but the lectures are boring and the workload is huge. I spent so much time studying and working for this class and I barely got a C. One of the reasons I switched majors is so that I won't have to suffer through 2402. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2401 - Dr. Taylor is such a helpful processor and a very nice man. He has multiple office hours everyday of the week and makes himself as available as possible to help you. I suggest going to office hours if you have questions because sometimes it will even turn into a mini lecture that can be beneficial. That being said, his class is very difficult. You must stay on top of the reading and assignments or it will be a struggle to catch up. You need to be prepared because he does have clicker quizzes almost every class. They will overwhelm you at first because they are challenging and very rarely are they "level 1" questions. Most of the time you must know a lot of information on the topic to answer the question correctly. You start to get the hang of them after a while. Don't stress if you make some failing grades, because he drops your lowest 6 lecture quizzes and lowest 6 lab quizzes. His tests are also worded similarly to the quizzes. Sometimes I found them easier because I didn't have the pressure of answering the questions quickly. They are still very detailed questions though. I was in his office crying at the beginning of the semester thinking that I was going to fail the class because I was failing his quizzes and I made a C on the first exam. Dr. Taylor was very encouraging and told me he would be surprised if I didn't end up with an A in the course. I had to study every single day and make the class my main priority in order to make it happen but IT IS POSSIBLE!! You will work very hard and learn a lot but in the end it feels very rewarding! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2402 - If you're not a nursing major, pls just take any other professor. I wish I could say I had a good experience with this class but unfortunately I did not. To begin with, my advisor placed me in 2402 before taking 2401, which apparently doesn't matter- but really, it does. Unless you have a strong biology background, do not listen to your advisor and take 2401 first. I struggled so much in this class and did everything I could, yet nothing worked, so I ended up dropping it. Dr. Taylor is a great man and is very helpful, but unfortunately this class is just not for everyone. The workload is insane, quizzes every week, and tests that are worded so weirdly. Its doable, but you have to give all your attention to this class. - Grade In Class:DROP
Comments:2401 - Wow is all I have to say about this class. This is THE hardest class that you will ever take. There is so much work its not even funny. This class is honestly do-able, but you need to make sure you read and study every single night. Do NOT get behind in anything and always be one step ahead. The way he words his test and quiz questions will be hard to understand at first and you need to figure out how to approach them. Do everything you can. Definitely a weed out class. Although, I will say that it is very rewarding to pass in the end. So many people worked so hard and still failed, so just stay on top of everything. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2401 - Dr. Taylor is the best and worst at the same time. He is such a nice man and so easy to talk to. He has so many office hours (go to office hours!!!!) and is so helpful. He explains things so well in my opinion and draws pictures on the board (if you are a visual person, it helps so much) to explain things. But, you absolutely have to keep up with the class and read the textbook or you will not do well. There are always clicker quizzes (24 total for lecture but 6 get dropped) in class. His tests can be really difficult for some people, but once you figure out how he asks questions they get easier. You cannot miss class and there are a lot of other weird things that you can lose extra credit points for, but he gave so much extra credit at the end. The only reason I did well in this class was because I spent so much time reading/studying, I enjoyed his teaching style, and I figured out how he liked to ask questions. It will ruin your life for the semester, but I learned so much from this class I don't know how all that information is stored in my brain lol. Do not get discouraged if you are not doing well, it will get better I promise. This is a really difficult class, but you got this!!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - Love him but hate him at the same time. However, the love trumps the hate. He is an awesome person and always willing to explain things to you if you go in for his office hour. This class will make your life miserable!!!! Be ready for giving up all your social time, gym time, cooking time....pretty much give up your life for his class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - Dr. Taylor is THE best professor on Baylor's campus. There is no other professor who offers 17!!! hours of his time during the week for office hours. There is no other professor who walks you through every exam, question by question before you take it. There is no other professor who wants to help you succeed as much as Dr. Taylor!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BIO2402 - As many others have posted, Dr. Taylor is a very kind, very intelligent human being. He has lots of office hours and is available almost all the time, and is approachable.. However, as someone with their nursing degree I HIGHLY suggest that if you are considering the medical field, do not, do NOT take this course with Dr. Taylor. The difficulty of this course is something you would expect from a medical school, where he really should be teaching instead of expecting the impossible from sophomore medical students. I walked away from this course with hardly any more knowledge that when I started. You have to mostly teach yourself, his textbook diagrams aren't labeled so you must label your textbook yourself in order to learn the material, often from unreliable online resources that you must find yourself. You are given worksheets of 250+ individual True/False statements per chapter, with which you have to go through every single statement and determine what redundant detail is false in the statement, then correct it in two different ways in two different colors. You will waste your time going through these hundreds of statements every week to only find about 4-5 false statements per chapter worksheet. The true/false worksheets for the exams are about 2,000 statements long; no exaggeration. If you are able to record what he says in class, try to with his permission. You cannot keep up with notes if you simply jot down what is on the board in class. The labs are also tedious and useless. Only 1 or 2 of them are actual labs, the rest of them you have to sit there for the 2 hour time block and work on impossible crossword puzzles, which often have to be taken home as homework to complete because 2 hours isn't enough to finish them due to their extreme, unnecessary difficulty which you will learn nothing from. The lab practicals are over 100 questions long, with different stations and about 4 questions per station. You have about 30 seconds per question (3 minutes per section) to not only read the lengthy question, go to the station with the diagram and try to figure out what it is asking, and finally answer the question. Most people do not finish more than 1-2 questions per station. It is really, really insane and basically impossible. The lecture exams are also nearly impossible. It is WAY more than understanding and memorizing the material. Take this class at a community college or with a different professor. Don't worry about what people tell you about being looked down upon for not taking BIO with him. You are here to get your degree, not to be put through mind games of an impossible class. When you're a future nurse/physician, no one will care that you took biology with Dr. Taylor. Just get 2401/2 done somewhere else/with someone else and you will be just fine. If you have to take it with him, communicate with him as much as possible and go to SI sessions. Worst case scenario is you have to drop the course or retake it. He is a respectable person so just stay positive, be respectful, but remember his course does not define your intelligence or ability to be a nurse. - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:BIO2401 & 2402 - I LOVE THIS MAN. You will learn SO much but you will work harder than you ever have for it. Dr. Taylor prepares his students so well and is SO knowledgable and excited about his subject. However, you shave to study 2 hours a day average to do well in this class (like EVERYDAY, not just lecture days or just weekdays - EVERYDAY). I adore this class with my whole heart because I gave this class my whole heart. You will get out of it what you put in. Don't expect to start learning the info the week of the exam to do well, because yes, you will completely fail out of this class. Good luck and get ready. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401/2402 - Dr. Taylor is famous on and off of Baylor's campus for many reasons. Though his class is probably one of the most challenging courses that you will take at the Waco campus, he is an amazing professor, who genuinely cares for each of his students. He prepares each student SO well for nursing school and I cannot emphasize that enough. Take time to get to know him, look at EVERY exam after you take it, and attend every single SI session. Do not lose participation points, because those eventually will help your exam grades (this is the way that he curves his exams). His exams are all multiple choice and tricky. If you can make it through these classes, nursing school will come much easier to you. Keep in mind, also, that several people have to "re-take" his class or even failed - and most of those people are the one's leaving negative reviews on BuBooks. Study hard and study smart and you don't have to be one of those people. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2402 - Dr. Taylor is very knowledgable on the material and this course is definitely easier than 2401. However, little changes between his teaching ability, his exams and quizzes, etc.. Although Dr. Taylor does his best to make sure you get a good grade in the course, he isn't very good at explaining things and you end up having to teach yourself everything. The curves and drops help a ton, but honestly it'd just be better if he didn't make the class way harder than it needs to be. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2401 - After having to retake this course, I thought it would be easier but it was just as hard. I quickly realized that I learned almost nothing from the first time I took the class, and that I was going to have to work my butt off to pass. Although it's a lot to learn in the first place, Dr. Taylor makes the material and the exams WAY harder than it needs to be, and has very little lenience. The way the course is set up, with participation points and everything, is definitely to your benefit, and all the drop tests and quizzes really help. However, Dr. Taylor's lectures are rarely helpful, and he often goes off on irrelevant stories and tangents unrelated to what he's trying to teach. SI helps a lot, but overall you're going to have to teach yourself everything. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2401 - Dr. Taylor's class is the most difficult class I have ever taken, but it is the most rewarding. You have to put in a lot of work (actually reading the textbook, doing the homework assignments, and studying almost daily). I personally didn't find his lectures to be that helpful, so most of my notes came directly from the textbook. You will have over 40 quizzes in the semester (lab and lecture combined), 3 tests, a final, and 2 lab practicals. His curve is based on participation points which can be lost throughout the semester if you don't go to class, do the homework, or misspell something on the crosswords in lab. STUDY IN A GROUP: it will make the workload way more manageable and you can divide up T/F statements or crosswords between y'all. You will hear horrible things from this class, but as long as you go in with a mindset that this class is your priority and needs a lot of attention, you will do fine. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2402 - In my opinion, 2402 was harder than 2401 but still very doable with sufficient effort. The test questions were pretty much at the same level of difficulty but the content was a little harder to comprehend. Definitely take both anatomy courses with Dr. Taylor if you want to be prepared for nursing school; just try your best and literally give it your all. For both 2401/2402 I thought the final was the easiest out of all the exams. (& heads up... the ppt pool was much lower for my 2402 class than my 2401 class) Just hang in there and study as much as you possibly can. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2402 - I thought I could do 2402 because I did well in 2401. I was WRONG. This class was completely different and in my opinion 10x harder than API. I dropped within the first month, which was good because most people I talked to failed the class. Take it at MCC or anywhere else. - Grade In Class:DROP
Comments:BIO 2402 - This class is entirely different than BIO 2401. The content appears easier to comprehend, but Dr. Taylor somehow makes the class more challenging. There are more T/F statements, and the clicker quiz questions are even more confusing to understand. The lab component is probably the most challenging, because we are not fully prepared for the information we need to know for that lab. I stayed in the class for the first two tests, where I failed both of them. It is hard to juggle this class with all of the others. I personally would recommend taking this class somewhere else where you can take the time to fully understand and grasp the material. Dr. Taylor's class is the equivalent of a mind game, you think you know the material so well until he tests you on it. It seems like no matter how hard you try, you are never fully prepared. - Grade In Class:DROP
Comments:BIO 2401 - Let me start off by saying, Dr. Taylor is a wonderful human being. He is so kind-hearted and always has a smile on his face. He is always making jokes and trying to make his class fun and enjoyable. But when it comes down to the class itself, it is incredibly challenging. Dr. Taylor loves teaching anatomy, but sometimes he gets so excited and hops around from chapter 2 to chapter 13 information and leaves you confused. He also makes a lot of sense in lecture, but then the quizzes and tests make you feel like you know nothing. I had to study a lot for this class. I could have done a lot better if it was the only class I had! It is not impossible, but definitely not fun. He has multiple clicker quizzes almost every class and you will always have T/F statements for each chapter. His tests are cumulative so Chapter 1 will stick with you from the beginning to the end. If you study for this class every night, attend SI, and study the T/F statements, you can probably complete the course with an above passing grade. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2401 - This class demands so much of your time and life. You have to be willing to put in the effort and actually try to learn the material, not just memorize it. Dr. Taylor is willing to help you as long as he see that you're taking the initiative to work. Studying with a small group makes the work load less daunting and easier to break down. The true and false statements are the absolute best way to study even though they are a pain in the butt. It forces you to learn the material, so just suck it up and do it, because you have to any ways for a grade. Aside from the work, this class can be a lot of fun with the right mindset! :) - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - I had Dr. Taylor for A&P I and despite it being the hardest class I've EVER taken in my life, it was the most fun! I absolutely love Dr. Taylor and his personality, he understands this class is difficult but truly does all he can to make himself as useful and as available as possible. Take advantage of his office hours, he's so helpful there, and he gets to know you and see that you're trying to do well. He offers so many office hours, there's really no excuse not to go at least once. *Make sure to go and review your tests after he grades them, I found this very helpful for future tests since they are cumulative. Always come to class prepared to take a quiz over material -- quizzes can be a good boost for your overall grade, especially if you don't do as well on tests. It's also important to not only read the material that is assigned, but really make sure you have a good grasp of the concept of it before Dr. Taylor even lectures on it. This was the key to success for me, I found, and how I was able to succeed in this class. DO NOT rely on participation points, they are very helpful (and you certainly don\'t want to lose them for reasons like forgetting to turn in T/F or not having your clicker or missing class in general) BUT they are not all you need in order to pass this class. Would definitely recommend going to SI, I thought it was helpful and if nothing else, it's just another opportunity to hear/work through the material which is more useful than some think. Practicals weren't easy, just make sure you start WAY ahead of time and just memorize, and study, and then memorize A LOT more after that. It takes a lot of hard work and a lot of dedication/time management to do well in his class. Things can get overwhelming, but just find the way that works best for you to study and maintain the large amounts of material, and really enjoy your time with him! He\'s a great professor and a great person, I can't believe how much I learned from him in just one semester and am very excited about A&P II! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - Okay so I was a straight A student until I took this class. I was very stressed about the class and it caused my anxiety to go through the roof, but it IS doable. Reading the chapters is not enough. You need to know them forwards and backwards plus more. It is important to start off well, go to office hours, go to SI, and keep ALL of your participation points. There will be days or weeks where you want to give up, but you just need to power through it and Dr. Taylor is so sweet, non judgmental, and very helpful! - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2401 - I LOVE DR. TAYLOR!! I almost don't even care that this class ruined my gpa. He is super helpful and once you to succeed but this class is ridiculously hard. I personally never figured out how to juggle it or study, but I was also super discouraged and sorta gave up towards the end which is my fault. He was by far my favorite professor and I really did learn a lot. One piece of advise do not solely focus on his class and not try as hard in your other classes because you think they are easy. Thats a good way to get behind and completely ruin your gpa. Overall Dr.Taylor is awesome and you learn a lot from his class. Oh and normal lab days are just crossword puzzles, pretty easy for his class. - Grade In Class:D
Comments:2401 - Let me just tell ya from the start. YOU CAN DO IT. I cried the first week of class because of how overwhelmed I was. I didn't think I would be able to pass. I sat in his office hours the first week and he looked me in the eye and said he anticipates me ending with a B or an A. And i ended 0.7 from an A. It pushed me to my limit. With dedication and positivity you will make it through. Stay on top of everything. I failed over half of the 48 quizzes, got a 47 on my first test, and somewhere in the 60s on my midterm practical. I improved so much when i learned how to study. And yes, i started studying a week early for each test. I have never felt so accomplished after finishing this class. Dont lose a lot of PPTs and go to office hours. Dr. Taylor is one of the most kind-hearted people. He wants you to succeed. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2401 - this class is the hardest class I've ever taken but seriously WHAT YA GIVE IS WHAT YA GET. I've never worked harder in my entire life (and have never been more proud of myself) my quiz grades were crummy and I failed the 1st test, but I got it together and went on to make a 75 and 90 on the next 2 tests. the practicals are hard, but very doable... just STUDY STUDY STUDY. cannot reinforce how important it is to read and actually stay on top of it; treat every night like there is an anatomy test the next morning. I thought the final was the easiest anatomy test to date, which is always nice. and do NOT lose participation points-- go to class on time, turn in TF, etc. (but missing a day is not the end of the world, I accidentally overslept one day and missed 2 quizzes/ a ton of ppts and stilled pulled out an A. you can do this!!!!!! ps: don't let the negative reviews change your opinion on dr taylor, he is the sweetest. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401/2402 - All the harsh comments on here are so wrong about Dr. Taylor. Dr. Taylor is by far my favorite professor I've ever had. The people who write terrible reviews of him and tell you to take the class some where else are the people who do badly in the class and don't work hard enough. This class is hard, and it takes effort, but its doable. We're going to be nurses so it has to be hard and you have to learn a lot. You can't just half-know the body, you need to know all of it in depth because our careers depend on our knowledge of it. I guarantee taking it at home at a community college where you only need the credit, and not the grade will make people not work as hard and definitely not know the body as well as it needs to be known. Dr. Taylor is the most helpful professor I've had, he is always in his office willing to help you with whatever you need. He's so nice and funny that it's hard not to like him, but those people who don't try hard enough succeed in that. Lots of work, lots of quizzes, lots of readings, and hard multiple choice test. But once you complete these classes you feel like you can take on the world. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:AP2 - Honestly his teaching style sucks and the fact that he has such a good percentage across the board is because he is very smart. Since he is very smart, he can explain everything clearly, however, when he teaches he bounces from topic to topic and then off to his little life stories. It's 8am and it already sucks so dealing with his nonsense only makes it worse. I have spent this semester giving all my extra time to studying for this class and even then I am not sure whether or not I am going to pass. The quizzes might feel like mind games but they are nothing like the exams. I've never been challenged so hard and it helped forcing me to self teach myself in order to grasp the material but grasping the material isn't enough. You literally need to live and breath anatomy. I can say this semester has been the worst one by far and I have an F in the class at the moment and I've spent every day crying and studying. Don't waste your time. Take it at community college. - Grade In Class:F
Comments:2401/2042 - Dr. Taylor is such an awesome teacher! He tries to help everyone the best he can- there's office hours everyday of the week. Even though he's such a great and goofy teacher, the class itself and the material is ridiculously difficult and requires you knowing the greatest amount of detail for the material you can imagine. There are multiple clicker quizzes a week (sometimes in a day) in lecture and quizzes in lab every week as well. I never really found a strategy of how to study for the tests.. just pay attention in class, READ his textbook and lab book (just make it your life), and go to his office to show him you're trying to understand the topics and not just giving up. This class is primarily for Nursing students, so there is a bunch of cool aspects to the class, whether that's his random stories and jokes, or the material that will come in handy for Nursing school. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2401/2402 - Hardest class I've ever taken but Dr. Taylor is the nicest person I've ever met! As long as you keep up with the readings and just study study study so you actually know the material and aren't just memorizing, you will do good. He always makes these funny/awkward comments during class that kind of help you not get so bored. I would recommend Dr. Taylor to anybody. I feel really prepared for nursing school because of him. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2401 - This guy is great! Even though he makes the tests really hard, he gives you plenty of resources to succeed, all you need to do is DO THE WORK. I knew plenty of girls who did not really invest their time into KNOWING the material, they just read the chapter and thought they would be fine. Anyways, as a teacher, he is very helpful and wants his students to succeed. If he sees that you are making the effort, he will encourage you to aim higher and memorize your name. Go to his office hours! Also, pay extra attention in class- this will save you lots of study time. Unfortunately in the first half of the course, I did not really pay attention because it is really hard for me to stay awake that early, but when i started to stay awake, I realized that his teaching style was very effective and that I did not have to study as much. This class can be enjoyable or unenjoyable depending on how much work you put in. This was my favorite class overall - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - Dr.Taylor is such a nice guy, it's kind of hard to hate him...but his class is a different story. I ended up taking the class twice, only to finally receive a C+ (which was disappointing). Go to the office hours always, and keep as many participation points as possible. His tests are pretty tricky to study for, but the curve at the end of the semester is nice. - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:2401 and 2402 - Dr. Taylor's class is hard. He will challenge you in ways you probably haven't been challenged before. You will have to make sacrifices in order to do well in his class, but taking his class was the best decision I ever made. A lot of people will drop out part way through and take it somewhere other than Baylor, don't do it. A,B, or C it doesn't matter what grade you get, because passing his class is an accomplishment. I'm in nursing school now, and I feel prepared because of these classes. The transition for me has been easy, because I can always look back and say, "if I survived A&P then I can survive anything." I promise you that with dedication you can do it. The reviews I read on here scared me before I got to his class, so I am hoping this one will give you some hope! You can do it! When it's over you'll feel so proud of what you've done! The best advice I can give is to use the vocabulary list in the back of the book as a guide and talk out EVERYTHING. You can not pass without reading the book. Sometimes it helps to draw things out! Also study with a friend, because talking things out helps most of the time! Good luck to everyone in this class! Dr. Taylor was by far my favorite professor at Baylor! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2402 - I've had Dr. Taylor for an entire year now, and he is the best teacher I've ever had. In my opinion the A&P2 material is easier to understand. It is more based on concept instead of basic memorization. Overall, go to SI and office hours, READ THE BOOK CAREFULLY, do and understand the true/false, and don't lose participation points, and you will be fine. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401&2402 - These are difficult classes. A&P1 is easier than A&P2, but they are both difficult. You absolutely HAVE to read the book (over and over and over again) and remember everything to do well on his tests; don't expect to get by without reading and studying hard. The tests are all multiple choice, but they are not easy tests as he rarely uses Level 1 questions (which are basic identification). His questions are tricky and worded in such a way that simple recognition will not be enough to answer the question. He also gives quizzes in lecture and in lab (24 each). Your lecture quiz average equals 1 test grade, and your lab quiz average equals 1 test grade, and these cannot be dropped. If you do better on the final than on on of your tests, the final will count for more. Likewise, if you do better on the lab final than the lab midterm, the lab final will count for more. He gives you a set amount of participation points which can be lost for things like not coming to class, not clicking in for attendance (he strictly gives you 15 seconds to click in, from 8:00:00 to 8:00:15), answering oral questions wrong, or not answering oral questions. You usually cannot gain participation points, although there are rare occasions (such as relay for life) where he will give you a few here and there. At the end of the semester, this pool of participation points is divided up into each of your major grades and added to them. Beware though, if people start to do well on tests and quizzes, the point pool will drop and you will have less participation points. I enjoyed Dr.Taylor as a professor, but I am nearing the end of my second semester with him and he is beginning to get on my nerves. His questions are frustratingly difficult and I have felt completely prepared for quizzes and tests, only to get mixed up by wording here and there. The lab midterm and final are difficult because you only get about a minute per problem. This is NOT an easy class by any means. For fellow nursing majors, study study study. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2401 - I am going to write this in the most gracious way I know how. But I feel that every Baylor nursing student going through this course needs to know how incredibly unfair and ridiculous, and self-serving of Dr. Taylor this class is. It is a perfect example of the politics behind "rigorous" schools like Baylor University. The Baylor nursing program sells itself as this magical, intense school that only accepts the "best of the best" students who "survived Dr. Taylor's class." This is insanely unfair and NOT a good measure of a student's ability to succeed in nursing school, and most importantly, in the work world. There have been too many VALUABLE, CAPABLE, and perfectly intelligent students kicked out of the nursing program because of failing this class. I have known too many students who SLAVED over this course, going into office hours, getting extra tutoring--doing everything they could, yet still could not pass. I do not buy the idea that all students who failed didn't study hard enough. Dr. Taylor has a 25% failure rate AFTER adding the 20 point curve to his averages. Does that say something? He has proven that he is a bad teacher based on the failure rate. If we are going to be such sticklers about equating grades with success, then we have to say the same about professors: if a good chunk of their classes fail, that says something about them. He does not know how to relay the information in a simple way, and this gets student in trouble. His exams are designed to trick you, so if you have any type of testing anxiety or issues with tests, you will feel incredibly discouraged. I encourage every nursing major to take A&P at MCC or another community college that allows credit to transfer. The professors there actually WANT you to succeed, they are not trying to weed you out in order to gain more credit for themselves (like the Baylor nursing program is). Also, I hope every student reading this knows that no matter your grade in anatomy, your field work as a nurse will be the most important measure of your success. I am excited to come back to Dr. Taylor after having a successful nursing degree from ANOTHER University, because I will gently and gladly say these words to him: "YOUR CLASS DID NOT STOP ME FROM PURSUING MY DREAMS." Baylor is losing a lot of great potential nursing alumni, all because of this one course. Is it worth it? It is their loss. Choose wisely before adding this class to your schedule. - Grade In Class:D
Comments:2401 - This is a tough class, hence the workload issue, but he does his best to get you through it. Great guy if you need to talk after class. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2401 - This class is definitely challenging, but it will teach you discipline. Dr. Taylor is a great professor. He really wants his students to learn! He is always available for his students, and even when you don't understand a concept, he is willing to explain it. He gives out true-false statements. Make sure to do them because they help with your participation points. You will not want to lose any participation points! The tests are difficult and require you to actually know the material. Memorizing will not help you. It's usually 60 multiple choice questions. There is a quiz or two..or three for every class period, so you must always have your iclicker on you. The lab practicals were difficult and required a lot of studying. I suggest you study a week or more in advance for his exams. The class demands a lot of your time, but it is not impossible. I was making a low B, but he curved the class, and I ended with a B+. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:2401 - This class was hard. The material is not too difficult to understand, but the amount of information and the workload given is VERY time consuming. Don't take this class if you have lots of other classes at the same time because this class will take up all your time. Dr. Taylor is a great teacher and VERY helpful. There are quizzes basically every day, so you MUST read and understand what you read before coming to class. He may also call on you to answer a question in class, if you get it wrong you lose participation points, if you get it right, you gain nothing. The participation points will help your grades a lot at the end so don't lose them. For every chapter there are True/False questions due, and doing them helps to understand the material. The lab is like an entire separate class, the quizzes are easy but the midterm and final are VERY hard. Take advantage of SI and office hours, I would not have passed without these. Because of SI, I found the lecture tests to be a lot easier than lecture quizzes. Also if you have time, go to the office hours!! Dr. Taylor is extremely helpful, I was in there at least once per week and it helped my grade tremendously. I think the best strategy for this class is to spend about 4hrs every day going over the material, it is very time consuming, but very helpful. Also, don't be late or miss class because you will lose lots of participation points. He takes attendance at exactly 8:00am through clickers, so if you arrive at 8:00 and 16 seconds, you have lost points. In all, this class is passable, but it requires lots of effort. Again, go to the office hours, they are often packed, but even if you are in there every day, he will not mind. This fall semester we started with about 105 people or more, at the end there were 77. Only 12 made As, 20 Bs, 23 Cs, 15 Ds, and 7 Fs. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - This class is the definition of a weedout class. Fall 2013 the class started with 103 people. 55 people made passing grades. The rest either failed or made D's. Do not underestimate this class. I have learned more in this class than any other class I've ever taken but I still had a C+ at the end of the class. I have never worked so hard on any class and I made a C+ if that is any indication. Last semester I took (as a premed student) Bio II and Chem II. Combined with both the lectures and labs for both those classes I did maybe half the work I did as I did on this class (and I made A's in Chem and Bio). This class forces you to practically memorize a 400 page textbook. Taylor gives very very few "level one" test questions (basic identification). Test averages are very low. He gives clicker quizzes every class. He gives "participation points" which can really help your grade (I'm talking in the range of 3-4% added to your final grade) and also curves the class at the end (but you will not know how much the curve will be until AFTER the final, so don't count on it!). Do not skip class, do not be late, and study pretty much every day if you want to get a passing grade. Awesome class as far as learning but sucks as far as the amount of work you have to put in. PS the lab absolutely is awful. - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:2401 - I came into this class expecting to do terribly. After all, the amount of stress and pressure prior rumors put on you even before the first day is overwhelming. That being said, hopefully I'll be able to clear stuff up: Yes, this class is difficult, but there's a difference between 'hard' difficult and 'demanding' difficult. This class is demanding--If you want to be prepared, you need to be reading all the chapters, taking notes, going over your notes, going to SI, doing all the True-False statements, and doing Anatomy most of the time. However, if you do all that, if you put in all the effort that is required, the class is not 'hard.' But again, that is if you have put in the hard work. (Why is it that everyone is so afraid of putting in the effort these days?) Dr. Taylor truly wants everyone to do well and thus is available seemingly all throughout the day just for students to come talk to him. He does everything with the purpose of preparing us for our future careers. At the same time, he lightens up the mood with, as someone else mentioned, cheesy jokes and puns (which I love). Also, he curves the exams and gives a number of participation points. Thus, I ended up with over 100% as my final grade! He is so knowledgeable about anatomy, and looking back I don't think I would want to take another teacher. We need classes and teachers like him in our major field of study to challenge us and help us achieve the best: That's why Baylor is known for its nursing program. So, take his class, be calm, and get ready to work hard for something that hopefully you're passionate about: the human body and helping others with such knowledge. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2402 - I've taken Dr. Taylor for 2 semesters and I can firmly tell you that you should definitely be intimidated by this class; the intimidation factor should get you ready to study and think harder than you have ever thought in your life. This class is challenging, time consuming, and frustrating. You need to not only memorize the book, but you also have to understand why certain things are the way they are; Dr. Taylor loves combining previous chapters' material with new material for exams. Therefore, you cannot move forward in the class without understanding prior information. That, and his tests are also cumulative. Do ALL the true/false questions and thoroughly read the textbook. You do have a chance of being called on for oral questions so that's why you have to read before class (Don't read it all the night before and expect to grasp the material FYI). In addition, the labs are different from lecture, but not entirely; the lab is mostly memorization, while lecture is more conceptual. Don't neglect studying the labs because it is heavily weighted! With these things said, this class is NOT impossible. Dr. Taylor is an excellent professor and he really knows and enjoys what he's teaching. He's got a goofy personality and he makes a ton of corny jokes--adds to his character. He has plenty of opportunities for office hours and he's more than willing to help. Don't be afraid to ask him questions and always review your exams after you take them. I have no bad things to say about Dr. Taylor and his class because, if you're a nursing major, you definitely need to experience this class in order to grasp a sense of what the curriculum will be like in nursing school. I didn't like the course but I appreciate its difficulty. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - This class will consume your life. Believe every rumor you've ever heard about it. If you aren't ready to put forth the effort to do well, don't take the class. Study for every quiz because they will help your grade more than you think. Do well in the lab because it influences your grade a lot. The tests are impossible. He plays a lot of mind games with his students so be prepared to figure out his teaching style. Be prepared to study for days and day before each test. good luck. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:Bio 2402 - I have had Dr. Taylor for both 2401 and 2402, and I have never been so ready to be done with a class. Do ALL the true false, and study for all the quizzes (lecture and lab) because these will help your grade. I studied at least 4-5 hours a night on his class. He is very approachable, but be prepared to study more than you ever have and try to take easier classes along with it because you won't have any time to do anything else. - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:2401 - I'm retaking this class right now and Dr. Taylor is slightly ridiculous, there's no way to gain points, only to lose them. His tests are confusing and ridiculous. Between reading, tf and quizzes you will spend hours on his class a night. Honestly, if I had known what I know now I would have taken this in the summer and I plan on taking anatomy 2 in the summer. Its just not worth it. - Grade In Class:D
Comments:Bio 1306 - Dr. Taylor is a great teacher but his tests are very challenging. He gave very detailed notes, which you should memorize as they will help you do well on his tests. He does not require you to read the book but if you do not understand a concept, the book is helpful. Great lecturer, one of the best at Baylor for sure. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BIO 2402 - Dr. Taylor is one of the best professors at Baylor by far. He is extremely intelligent and wrote the books for A&P I and II. He knows exactly what he is talking about and does not need notes or powerpoints like many other professors. Powerpoints are usually only used for pictures (which is very helpful). He gives around 50-80 true/false statements for each chapter. They take a long time to complete, but do them. He will take participation points off! Also, the true false help you understand how he will test you. There are absolutely no level one, straight forward questions on his exams. They were extremely difficult. He makes you think critically and abstract, not memorization. Quizzes are easier- keep up with reading. Quiz grades help your overall grade! This class is very time consuming, so try to take it with other classes that will come easier to you if you want to do well. Dr. Taylor is extremely helpful and such a sweet guy. Don't listen to the others. The amount of effort you put in will determine how well you do in his class. *Go to office hours after every exam and if you have ANY questions. He is extremely helpful!!* - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2301 - He's a nice guy, but the lectures are really boring. His tests are ridiculous, but once you figure out the way he asks questions you can think about that while you are reading the book and it helps. I felt like I had to pretty much memorize every single sentence in his book. I think most anatomy classes are going to be hard, but Dr. Taylor seemed like he was more concerned with confusing us with complex questions on tests than if we learned the general concepts of the material. He gives extra points at the end of the semester if he liked your class, which raised my grade from a C to a B. Read before class and do the TF and you should pass with a decent grade. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:A&P 1 - Dr. Taylor is THE WORST professor I have ever had. He does NOT know how to teach. It seems like he doesn't even care about the students in his class. The workload is ridiculous. Be prepared to spend at least 3-5hrs on this class every night. He gives quizzes almost every day and his tests are extremely hard. I would take this course during the summer at a community college. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH DR. TAYLOR!!!!! - Grade In Class:DROP
Comments:2401 - A&P I- Dr. Taylor is an amazing teacher and if you study for his tests, they arn't as hard as everyone says they are. It's a lot of work and you have to keep up with it but he's definitely one of my favorite teachers. Very nice, smart man and wants you to succeed if you put in the effort, but you have to be willing to put in the effort. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:BIO 1306 - He does not give any grades other than his tests. He also does not give extra credit. He is really intelligent and good at lecturing, but the extreme difficulty of his tests do not reflect what he goes over in class whatsoever. You have to analyze the book and memorize every minimal detail because he -will- test on those. His lectures follow the book loosely, and he tends to stray away from the book as the semester continues. The tests were purely multiple choice where each answer was almost the exact same. I studied very hard and had an A going into the final. The highest grade I heard of was a 76...which means that literally no one got an A in my class due to his grading scheme unless he curved. At least 3 people left the final crying and one person didn't even finish it. I studied for a week straight and felt like I didn't learn a thing while going through the final. Avoid Taylor if you can. (BTW, my workload rating is based on how much you have to study for the test, rather than homework, since we get none) - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:1306 - Dr. Taylor is a great teacher and explains the concepts very well. He's very helpful if you need to speak with him during office hours, and he's a really nice guy. However, his tests are CRAZY DIFFICULT and he's not very understanding when it comes to grading. Rumour has it that a girl cried on our final exam. The final exam also was worth 50% of your final grade, so there were kids who made A's on the first two tests, and bombed the final, leaving them with C's in the class. If you're a slacker, don't take Taylor. - Grade In Class:D
Comments:2401 - If you're a nursing major well I'm sorry you just have to take him. If you are thinking about taking one of his bio classes, don't. He likes to talk in circles until he has thoroughly confused everyone. He has told the class he is going to ask the confusing questions 5/5 times. His interpretation of confusing is outlandish and ridiculous. I would not recommend him. Nursing majors...just go to his office hours and really try your hardest to read ahead of time and actually do the t/f statements thats where he gets his questions from and his book is useless. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:BIO 1306 - Dr. Mark Taylor was an excellent teacher. He gives great lectures, but his test were very difficult. Make sure you really graps the concepts he teaches. Go to him for help and he will be more than willing to explain things to you. - Grade In Class:F
Comments:BIO 1306 - I love Dr Taylor, but his tests made me want to shoot my brains out, they were so hard!! He is a great lecturer though. He wants you to learn this material and helps you out. He is very approachable and very nice. He gives his own notes on the chapter and I found them helpful. Study a LOT for his tests. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2401 - Dr. Taylor is a wonderful professor! He is very organized and you can always be sure that you will get most everything done in class! The True/False statements do take quite a bit of time, but will tremendously help you prepare for the tests! Dr. Taylor's tests are tough but really make you apply the material and develop good study skills! Also, he offers a great amount of "bonus points" but you will have to put forth the effort to get them! I really enjoyed Dr. Taylor's BIO 2401 class and look forward to taking 2402 with him next semester! My greatest advice to those who have not taken Dr. Taylor is to keep up with the work, go to office hours if you have any questions, and take advantage of all review sessions and extra credit opportunities! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:BIO 1306 - Final was 50% of our final grade. Enough said. Many people went into the final with solid A's or grades over 100% and came out of the class with B's or lower. The class was pretty easy before the final, but the final killed most of the grades in the class. Less than 5% of the class made an A and 26% of the class got lower than a 73...out of about 200 students. Absolutely ridiculous. The clicker points were helpful during the class, and you get to drop a major exam which is nice. Making an A before the final was not too hard but keeping it was extremely difficult. He provided his own notes for certain sections in the book. Definite weed-out biology class. I would not recommend him as a teacher. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1306 - I despised him in the beginning because of h is teaching method. But as the class progressed, I realized hwo helpful he is. He makes you UNDERSTAND the material like no other. I took the class when it was team taught with Owen Lind and Dr. Taylor. Lind sucked! he did not help any student at all. But Taylor always had review sessions and helped the students and was more than willing to curve the tests if the average was low. He offered quizzes and drops the lowest 2. He basically offered every opportunity to help you out BUT that being said, his tests were not easy. I had to study my ass off to do good on his tests. I would recommend him, but take him if its just him teaching the course. Lind killed my grade! - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:2401 - REALLY GOOD PROFESSOR!!! Took the class twice. First time I made a D, second time I made an A and was a lot easier. READ, READ, READ! DO THE TRUE AND FALSE QUESTIONS! TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EVERY OPORTUNITY TO KEEP PARTICIPATION POINTS! THEY REALLY COME IN HANDY AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER. Don't miss class! Be prepared to study like 3 hours every night. He's really nice and willing to help you out. Don't get discouraged, if you have to take the class two or three times then do it, it'll be worth it especially if you're a nursing student, and lots of people have done it too. I liked A&P, once I understood it of course! Good class! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Bio 2401 and 2402 - Great instructor, but he is tricky and a hard tester. He is very nice and is eager and willing to help. Get to know him. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2402 - I actually did not take 2401 first and lemme tell ya it was super hard adjusting to Dr.Taylor's super intense teaching style. This man is probably one of the best anatomy profs ever!!! He is always willing to help a student and he really doesn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t make you feel like your dumb for not understanding a concept the first time or second time around :) I truly feel that I have learned so much in just one semester and Dr. Taylor really encourages upper level thinking. oh and 2401 ppl just wait for 2402 this semester he makes you turn in assignments!! that are really hard but they really help you learn the material. You will be reading for this class EVERY NIGHT so yes this class does consume your life for the semester and will even invade your dreams because your thinking about it so much!! oh the only thing i did not like about Dr.Taylor\\\'s class is that he only gave you like 10 sec to click in for attendance so yes you will be considered tardy even if you are there exactly on time( note: he is ALWAYS right on time...ALWAYS!) - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2401 - BARELY PULLED OFF AN A. Very time consuming and demanding class. Never skip class because you never know how many quizzes you'll have that day, and DON'T FORGET YOUR I-CLICKERS! EVER! Tests are always T/F and quizzes (daily) are always multiple choice. DO THE TRUE AND FALSE REVIEW QUESTIONS because some of them are word-for-word on the test. Not an easy class! Definitly a weave-out class for Nursing students. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - Perhaps if the only class availble wasn't 8 AM this class could be a little better considering you will be up all night studying for it. Taylor is extremely intelligent and tries to liven up the material with terrible jokes and stories but they often lead him off subject and result in material being skipped over. The notebook required for the class is VITAL. Read and re-read everything, be prepared for quizzes over the material and be aware of tricky questions. This class will take over your workload so it is very hard to maintain all of your grades if you give it your all. His separate study sessions don't offer much help because he goes off on tangents and often forgets to answer any questions. He gives T/F questions as reviews and never gives all of the answers which can be frustrating. Our final review is 825 T/F which seems a bit absurd considering some of us have 5 other finals to study for. Good luck, it's difficult and time consuming but not impossible. - Grade In Class:D
Comments:2401 - Dr. Taylor's class is extremely hard, but he is a great teacher and us very helpful. He offers his own memory tricks to try and help you remember the information. His tests are tricky and take some getting used to but he is very straightforward and will always let you know what will be more importatnt for the tests. Go to his review sessions and do the true/false, they are great preparation, but it is definitly a demanding class. The labs are very poorly put together and are not always very helpful and the lab tests can be quite unpredictable. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 & 2402 - Dr. Taylor's class isn't easy by any means, but if you read/look over the assignments before class then it's not too terrible. You just have to keep up and not fall behind. The first semester is harder than the second because it takes a little time to get used to his teaching style and test/quiz questions. Everyone fails the first test in 2401, but you get to drop your lowest test grade if you score higher on the final [and most people do]. Also, he gives a quiz almost everyday over any material he's covered throughout the semester--which kind of stinks. Just don't fall behind. Looking at the textbook as you read his manual is pretty helpful because then you can visualize what the manual says. Dr. Taylor is actually a really nice man; it's his phrasing and complexity of his questions that are pretty tricky. He tries to lighten the mood with some jokes, but I was never awake to really understand them [since I had his class at 8 am for both semesters....EWW]. I never took Anatomy & Physiology in high school, but from what i hear... it wouldn't help anyways. The most important thing to do for this class is to NOT FALL BEHIND. Keep up with the reading assignments and actually understand the material. READ, READ, and REREAD Dr. Taylor's manual. In order to get an A, you have to understand the material and not just memorize things mindlessly. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2402 - I love Dr. Taylor!!! His class is hard, but only because he REALLY wants you to KNOW the material. If you have any questions at all, he is usually in one of his offices and is more than willing to help, just don't ask him what his office hours are (office hours are the hours in which i am in my office)... I wish all of my teachers were like him! Oh and PS. his corny jokes are hilarious. "Just B+ and you will get an A!" - Grade In Class:B
Comments:BIO 2402 - Dr. Taylor is one of the best professors at Baylor University!!! He really cares about his students, and really wants to see them succeed. He does tell corny jokes, but they are hilarious and lighten up the mood, esp. @ 8 in the morning!! Overall, he is tough, but it\'s because he really wants you to know the material, not just memorize it. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - Doctor Taylor is an excellent professor. I took this class in the past and failed his first test because I didn't know what I was doing; I figured out, though, that in order to do well on his tests, you HAVE TO READ THE NOTEBOOK. At least twice. I ended up with a 93 in the class. Every question on the tests can be found in the book; some questions may seem really particular, but if you read and pay attention in class, there shouldn't be a problem if you study. There is literally no homework for this class--just reading. Your grade consists of 4 multiple choice tests and a bunch of quizzes that weigh the same as one test grade. The quizzes are difficult if you don't read beforehand; however, if you listen in class, you should definitely at least pass them. This is not a blow off class. It's not highschool A&P, either. Doctor Taylor wants you to know the material...you definitely have to earn your grade in the class. There are, however, curves on tests--2401 has it a lot easier than 2402 on this one. Doctor Taylor is one of the most brilliant instructors I have had at Baylor. He really knows his stuff. If you have a question, ask him. Trust me, he won't bite your head off. He'll probably crack a joke. Yes, this is a difficult class, which means you have to work to earn your grade. If you do bad on the first test, don't sweat it. Find a different method of studying and always remember, your final (which is the easiest test!) WILL replace your lowest grade, which is usually your first test! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2402 - Yes, this class is rather difficult. But, Dr. Taylor is extremely helpful and willing to answer any questions you have. His office hours make it a little tough to track him down, but I don't blame him with everything he's got going on around campus. The assignments are an everyday thing and you can't really cram for this class and actually do well. He'll occasionally tell goofy jokes and funny stories that he works into his lectures and sometimes they actually help. There's four multiple choice tests that usually end up having a curve. His tests can be really tricky but if you know your stuff, you really should have no problem. Some of the true/false reviews can be intimidating, but its beneficial to correct them because that's where he gets his test questions. Overall, don't get extremely intimidated over Dr. Taylor...his class is manageable and if you don't fall behind, you'll be fine. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:BIO 2401 - This class is HARD! Dr. Taylor is a good lecturer, but his tests are beyond tricky and you have to be really careful or else. I wish that he would consider the fact that his class average on most tests is a D... including a "curve." The one thing I do like about Dr. Taylor is that he is always available if you have any questions. USE THIS RESOURCE!!! If you don't understand something in lecture, then you REALLY won't understand it come test time. This class was the hardest I have taken at Baylor but it has also been the most rewarding. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2401 - wow. this class was extremely difficult. i'm telling you now that you need to keep up with the material, if you get behind, you will be sorry. it seems like you have a quiz everyday and they are almost harder than the exams. the only good thing about this class is that pretty much everything has some curve. taylor is a nice teacher, but he expects you to know every single detail. interesting, but difficult class, good luck! - Grade In Class:C
Comments:Bio 2402 - Dr. Taylor is awesome. but his class is super hard. tips for anatomy: read a little/take notes every night. study hard each week for the lab quizzes. spend all of your extra time reading and repeating the notes back to yourself. good luck! - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:2401 - I have never worked so hard in my life! He is ridiculously difficult! You need to memorize the text word for word. Every detail will be on the test. Oral questions are nerve-racking, but not that big a deal. Lab is extremely hard because you need to know every muscle and every function of everything ever! I hated this class! I studied for about 6 hours straight for each of the tests. I couldn't stand Dr. Taylor! I DO NOT recommend him to anyone! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401-2402 - Dr. Taylor is an AMAZING professor!!! He's really funny and enjoys teaching this subject. He's also very smart!!! However, Dr. Taylor is indcredibly hard. You HAVE to study your butt off every night, especially the WEEK before an "opportunity." I made a B+ in 2401 and I made an A in 2402. It was so hard and so stressful. It sucks for ALL nursing students b/c you HAVE to take him. People may say, "It wasn't that bad," but believe me, if you want a good grade, you'll feel stressed out for two semesters! Dr. Taylor also does "Oral Questions." What that means is that you have to study every night b/c he draws names from a bucket and calls on people to answer questions FOR A GRADE!!! Lab is also ridiculously hard. It's a whole new class in itself. So it's really like you're taking two extremely hard classes at the same time along with your other classes. And finally, if you plan on taking more than 13 hours or if you plan on being in a sorority, you probably wont make a good grade in this class simply b/c you wont have time. So good luck to all!!!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:2401 - Dr. Taylor. man what can i say about him... he is a nice guy with corney jokes that you laugh at because its corney. that being said... this class is MAD HARD if ur a nursing or nutrition major you have to take it. basically, its a weeding out class, alot of people change their majors after taking this class. i had to retake it because i got a D. if you try really hard and talk to him if u dont understand him then you have a chance of getting at least a C. some people did make A's in his class on first try so its not totally hopeless but i am not going to lie to you, when you take this class you will work your butt off! Good Luck and God Speed - Grade In Class:B
Comments:2401 - Dr. Taylor is a very nice man, he even tries to keep the class funny by telling jokes. However he has a very dry sense of humor so you really only end up laughing at how lame his jokes are. He is a good teacher and he knows what he is talking about. However his class will consume your entire semester. I took anatomy and physiology in high school and I got an A. But when I took his class nothing could have prempared me to how hard this class is. You have to read every night to keep up with what he's talking about.. he asks oral questions throughout the course to monitor who is reading and who isnt. But even if you did read the material he might as you to remember one of the tiniest details from the reading passage. You have to read the chapters all more than once and the effort you have to put in this class is ridiculous. He makes the exams harder than they have to be so you have to know the material backwards, forwards, and any other way that he might think of. I was a nursing major.. and this is called the weed out class... and it workds. Good luck all nursing majors who have to take Dr. Taylor's classes... you will need it! - Grade In Class:D
Comments:2401 - Dr. Taylor is a great professor and one of the most intelligent professors I have ever come across. However, this class is extemely difficult and will become your life. If you're a Nursing Major you have no choice. I took A&P in high school and it helped very little cause his class is so in depth. I would recommend reading every night cause if you get behind you are probably going to suffer. The effort it takes in just about any other class to get you an "A" will get you a "C" in his class. Just study hard and don't blow off the LAB quizzes cause they important in the end!! - Grade In Class:C
Comments:2401 - First off, Dr. Taylor was an extremely nice professor, however, he is so smart that I got the feeling he didn't know how to relay the information. This class is EXTREMELY hard!!! I worked my butt off in this class and still came out with a D. I took advanced anatomy in high school, but nothing could have prepared me for this class. Take this class only if you have to! (nursing majors, i feel your pain) The review sessions are not helpful, he gets off on random subjects and never fully answers the question. The exams are extremely difficult as well. My class average was usually anywhere from 40-50. This is a huge warning! This class becomes your life, you have little time to do anything else but study. Good luck to all! - Grade In Class:D
Comments:2401 - A&P is a dred to get through. It is a whole lot of work and his tests are very hard. I took anatomy in high school and loved it, but it is by far the most difficult class I have taken at baylor. Dont waste any time getting started and i would suggest having a study group or a tutor to help explain things. He wrote the textbook himself and goes into a lot of detail on EVERYTHING which makes it more confusing. You simply have to spend a lot of time working to get a good grade in this class. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:BIO 2401 - Dr. Taylor is a really nice guy, but if you take anatomy and physiology you're in for a challenge! The lecture part of the class is pretty easy, but lab is just awful. There is a lot of memorizing and labelling things. But if you're a nursing major, you have no choice, and he is the only one who teaches the class. Even though the class is extremely HARD, he's a great teacher and very helpful. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:bio 2 - great guy and even a better teacher. his class requires studying but it is definitely not impossible to get an A. totally recommend him for his helpfulness and love for teaching. great prof. just study his notes about 3 days before hand of the test and u should do fine. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1306 - I loved Dr. Taylor's method of testsing. His exams ("opportunities") make sure you understand the material well, and they are not trivial. He does a good job explaining the material, and he will help you if you ask questions in class or go to his office. He posts his notes online, and it really helps cuz he doesn't deviate much from them (in other words, u really don't have to read the book). His questions are tough, but if you know the notes really well, you shouldn't have any problems with the exams. He's a great guy and he's got some interesting stories. I highly recommend him. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Bio 1306 - His passion for the subject really shows and he's always willing to help out a student. His tests can be a bit tricky, but he's just trying to test your knowledge. He has a goofy sense of humor too; pretty entertaining. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:The class is very difficult, but he is the nicest man. Always willing to help you if you go to his office hours.
Comments:Dr. Taylor is more than willing to help anyone with questions. There is a ton of memorization, and this course requires you to spend time everyday going over the material
Comments:He's very smart, but the class is really hard. There is a lot of work, but he's a nice guy and answers all your questions. He's always there to help!
