*A 5 star workload is an easy workload; a 3 star is average; whereas a 1 star workload is extremely hard.
Comments:PSY3341 - I made an account for this so please take that into consideration. Literally the worse class I've taken in college. I had previously read that this prof was unorganized, but it was so so much worse that I could imagine. She has a personal story about every single topic and shows short meaningless videos multiple times throughout class. She does NOT answer her emails. She is OBSESSED with lockdown browser. The homework REQUIRES breaks between, preventing you to get things thing in one sitting, very inconvenient. If you take this class, you will see that there is SO MUCH extra assignments/reviews/study sessions. its just very overwhelming. My advice would be to just print out the outlines and take notes with pen. She does offer like five EC opportunities which was helpful for me bahah. But I truly would not recommend this prof to anyone. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:3321 - one of the most disorganized professors ive ever seen BUT her class its quite lenient. its very possible to get A's on every exam. she doesn't drop any grades bc she really doesn't need to. if u do her study guide and study them well , you will for sure get an A in the class.listening in class helps too bc she has interesting stories so def go to class it makes life easier. I will say she will 99% not answer ur emails so its better to go to her after/before class if u have a question - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PSY 3321 - I had Dr. Michalski for Abnormal Psych. I thought this class would be much more difficult, but I honestly didn't feel like it was. She has a weekly quiz, on lockdown browser (this woman LOVES lockdown browser), that was somewhat difficult, but I was able to do decent if I kept up with her during class. She gives you an outline and the powerpoint ahead of class, so follow along during class, take notes, listen to her stories, they really help you understand the content. There are extra credit opportunities, like a zoom review session the night before each exam, and a discussion post--DO THEM! They are a super easy way to earn a few extra points, and you will appreciate that at the end of the semester. The exam reviews are long, but she gives you the outlines from the beginning of each unit, so start early and you'll be just fine. I was able to go through each exam pretty quickly because I spent a few hours on the review and made sure I understood everything. You can't wait until the night before to start studying, but you can honestly do it in two days, speaking from experience. Make sure you memorize the drug charts! She will have fill in the blank questions on the exams asking about specific drugs, types, and functions. This is a super easy way to lose points if you don't put in time to memorize them. Do it!! As you can see from other reviews, Dr. Michalski is the least organized professor I've had at Baylor. Her desktop is so crowded my jaw dropped when I first saw it. On more than one occasion she had to pause class to upload the outline or powerpoint because something was wrong. Just be patient and a nice person, she's only human. A lot of people would get really annoyed for no reason, and it's not worth it to let her mistakes ruin your experience of the class. She has her way of doing things, but if you just have a little patience, it's not that bad. I think an A is very doable for this course. Just take your time going over the notes before you take the quiz. Go to the exam review sessions. Go back over your exam with her in office hours. She's a very nice professor, and she wants you to succeed, but if you're not a nice person, she will not like you. Come into this class with a lot of patience and you'll be fine. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PSY 3321 - she wants you to succeed and the class in interesting. unfortunelty she is so disorganized which is annoying. she is also drooling for lockdown browser - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:4319 - Had her for clinical neuroscience (4319). she is SO DISORGANIZED. Avoid at all costs!! you WILL have to straight memorize the textbook and even then, she does not go by textbook or adds random pieces of info. Study guides were somewhat similar to exams which was helpful (although they were posted the a night or two before the exam). Her lectures never made sense and her slides made it 10x worse. When uploading her slides to canvas (give her about a week after lecture to upload), she would leave off slides !! She clearly did not use her own slides as she did not know some of the content. Clearly has never taught this course before, the whole class is STRUGGLING. DO NOT TAKE. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:ik - i took this class last sem and it was easy if u put the work in. but if u dont study ahead and go to class you will fail or get a C. take notes. she likes if u go to her and talk and go over the tests - Grade In Class:B
Comments:PSY 3321 - I took the online version of this class. I have never written a professor review on bubooks before but I created an account just to warn you guys to STAY AWAY FROM THIS WOMAN. I have never taken such a disorganized class in my life. The class has 4 exams and 1 final and she doesn’t drop any of them. She makes this class unnecessarily difficult and time-consuming — she gives you like 10 quizzes each week and even though they are short, they require you to thoroughly review the lecture videos that she makes you watch before taking the quiz. She provides you with review materials for the exams, but it isn’t one study guide, it’s like 10 study guides (1 study guide for each module) so it is very difficult for you to know what material is important to study. For the exams themselves, she gives you less time to answer the questions (ex: one of our exams, she gave us 57 minutes to answer 42 questions — mind you, there are matching questions and fill in the blank). I took 6 classes this semester and this class took up the majority of my time. I would honestly say that this class was the most demanding class that I have taken in my entire college career and i’m a senior. I took this class as an elective because I like psychology and I find it fun to learn but it honestly made me hate it. I regret taking it so much. Please do not take her. Save yourself the trouble of having to go through a terrible and arduous experience. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:3341 - Dr. Michalski is the most DISORGANIZED professor I've ever had. She frequently forgets to post lecture slides, and the outlines before class. Her lectures are basically about her personal life, and often have nothing to do with the material on the exams. she teaches in her own way, and not the way the textbook describes the topics. So when you fill out the study guides, you have to go into the book to find the things she didn't cover in her lecture. She gives 5 exams (and there is so much content per exam), and literally gave us our last exam 2 days before the final. She has weekly quizzes that are incredibly nitpicky, and she doesn't drop any assignments or exams which screws you over if you performed badly on an exam. I recommend taking this class not at Baylor if you can. I would never take this professor again. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:PSY 3341 - I took Survey of Human Development with Dr. Michalski, and honestly, while the class content is not super interesting, the class wasn't half bad. I don't know why Dr. Michalski gets such a bad rap. I am pre-med and this class was so straight forward compared to my science classes. She tests straight from her study guides, and the tests are so easy! Like so, so easy and straightforward. The only thing that makes this class annoying is that she assigns MindTap homework, which cannot be completed in one sitting, you have to complete it over the course of a few days. Additionally, she assigns weekly lockdown browser quizzes, but if you attend lecture and take notes, they are not hard at all. Overall, I would take Dr. Michalski again. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3350 - She is the most unorganized teacher I have ever had at Baylor. She also does not drop any exams because "in real life they don't drop exams." She gaslights her classes and says that she taught lessons that she did not and will still add those lessons to the exams. There was not a whole lot of homework but she was not prepared for our group project and then we were pressed for time because she did not have it together. Would not take her again and even though the actual class information is very interesting she does not teach it well. She goes through her PowerPoints so fast so it is impossible to take notes and she does not know how the class recordings work so its not ever recorded properly but will spend a whole class period telling stories. Nice person, not a great teacher. - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:3321 - I had Dr. Michalski for Abnormal Psychology. The class content is fascinating and she does have some good material and stories that are helpful in learning. That said, she has the potential to ramble and I found myself drifting off in some of her lectures. The workload is average as she assigns weekly quizzes(somewhat tough) and online homeworks(easy). However, I found her tests, which were all in class and multiple choice with a few free response/matching, to be very straightforward. She offers study guides for all the material that will be on the test, so completing and studying those helps a lot. She sticks to the book somewhat but also throws in a lot of her own material so going to class is a good move. Overall, not the most engaging class/professor but an interesting upper level science course that won't make you study for hours on end. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PSY 1305 - This woman is absolutely awful. I took her over the summer, and she was literally awful. She never gave us a syllabus or an assignment schedule. She was extremely unhelpful and would never answer emails. I had to take the final early due to an emergency, and she said I had turned everything in and was done, but the day after I took the final, she created several new assignments because "we needed more work for the homework portion of your grade" so I had to scramble to get it all done and then she did not want to accept it because I had already taken the final. Do not take this woman. She is literally awful. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:PSY 3341 - Do not take this class -- especially if you are looking for a CSD elective!!! She doesn't provide any warning before showing and discussing graphic details of abuse and suicide and she is very rude to student. I do well on the tests, but her mini-module quizzes are not on the syllabus and she will rarely give a warning about doing them. The study guides are helpful and the content is fine, but she is not considerate of the students and I did not enjoy this class. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:3341 - This class is so much fun and interesting especially if you are a nursing major. I have truly enjoyed this class. Her quizzes are harder than her tests. Make sure you study for the quizzes good before taking them because you have to have a 70% just in quizzes to pass the class. Definitely meet with her to go over your exam because she always gave me at least one point back on it. Her tests are pretty straight forward. Definitely do the study guide and then just study that. I got an A on every exam but it was the weekly quizzes that dropped my grade. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:3321 - Ab Psych- She is a great lecturer and keeps everything interesting. She always has real-life stories and example videos of concepts that make it easy to apply the info. There are weekly online hw assignments that are super easy, quizzes every week but they are not like miles genetics quizzes, very easy and can do well if you just skim the powerpoints once or twice. There are 4 tests and a final that's cumulative. She doesn't drop or really curve much but does give at least 3-5 bonus questions each test that are simple if you went to class. She posts study guides for every test, DO THESE, literally will be word for word the same and she doesn't test on anything that's not on there. They are extremely long so don't cram but these are the key. The average of her tests are Bs. It is a super interesting class, shes a bit unorganized and struggles with tech stuff but very glad I took her class - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3341/3350 - If you get anything except an A in any of her classes and are a prehealth/ premed/ predent student, please switch majors, I dont want the furture of our societys health in your hands. This women is the perfect professor. She teaches you exactly what you need to know for her exams, and she is great at teaching, she uses a good amount of personal anacdotes, and is very passionate about the material. After the first unit in PSY 3341, I have not listedn to a single lecture, I literally cram everything the night before, and only fill out her study guides, and get easy A's. The average for her exams are pretty high, usually a low B. But theres no excuse to get anything other than an A in her class if you have aspirations to be a health professional. I took 18 hours with her class and ended with a 93. Take her take her take her. Thank me later. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:psy 3341 - *read for a detailed course structure* As a professor Dr. Michalski is great! She cares about the topic and is willing to help out, and very available too! There is nothing wrong with the professor, only how the class is structured. I am on the pre-med track and have never had so much work for a single class. The content is not hard by any means, it's just a lot of work. - There are 5 exams + final to begin with. - At least 12 quizzes per week, averaging 3-4 quizzes every 1-2 days. (you have to take the quizzes in order, and if you miss one deadline, you cannot access the future ones. the only option left is to contact Dr. M and ask her to open up the quiz again so you can turn in the rest on time) - Chapter hw's that you CANNOT complete the day of (MindTap forces you take a break before letting you continue the hw) It is A LOT of busy work in my opinion. We could have just done the study guides and been prepared for the tests, the rest (quizzes and MindTap) was extra work. It took time away from my more important classes, as this is just an elective. I cannot stress enough how much busy work it is. If my friends ever asked what I was doing, I was most likely doing work for this class. It is VERY easy to fall behind as there are 3-4 quizzes almost every day. So if you take it, make sure to put everything in your calendar, and try to get ahead on the work if you have other tests/projects coming up. The quizzes end up being a hassle. DO do the extra credit she offers! it will help you snag the points you need at the end to bump you up to the next letter grade if you're close. Every test also has 2-3 questions of extra credit. The tests are more questions than time given, so you REALLY have to know the information to speed through the test. (ex: 52 q, 42 min, many questions being open ended/TF/MC. some MC also has multiple parts) That's about it for knowledge dump. if you have the time, it's an interesting course, but I would take another course over this one solely due to the work load. the only reason I was able to keep up was because I had a light course load this semester. Good luck! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3341 - The material is not difficult, however there is so much work. 5+ hours of lectures each week and 12+ quizzes each week. If you are taking this as an elective for your major DO NOT TAKE IT. There is so much work that it takes away time from your harder classes. Biggest regret this semester was taking this class. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:PSY 3341 - This class, Survey of Human Development (asynchronous, is by far the number one course I regret taking at my time at Baylor. The workload in this class is absolutely insane. For example, I have had up to 5 quizzes in one day and there are multiple quizzes every single day. The amount of videos you will need to take notes on for every unit is absurd and the zoom reviews before each exam can be around 2 hours. I am finishing out this class with an A, so I am not just saying this because I am being petty and am too lazy for the workload. I spent hours every single day to finish all of the busy work this course requires, and to study. I would understand if the amount of work matched up to the difficulty of the content, but it does not. This content is relatively easy to understand but there is hours upon hours of mindless busy work. This course conflicted with my other tougher classes because it took up all of my time, giving me less time to study for the courses I actually needed to focus on because of their difficulty. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3341 - Dr. Michalski is so kind and helpful. Her class is a lot, but if you do the study guides she provides you'll be set for the test. She has 4 exams plus a cumulative final. The tests are multiple choice and vocal matching and all the tests have extra credit. It's definitely possible to get an A in this class if you use her lecture outlines and fill out the study guides. If you need the extra help she'll also meet with you to help you study or go over things you missed which I think is super helpful. Overall, I enjoyed this class and thought Dr. Michalski had an engaging way of teaching a lecture course - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3341 - If you are able to take Dr. Michalski's Survey of Human Development class you will not regret it. Her lectures are very interesting and easy to follow. She posts all of the materials to Canvas so if you are absent you are able to catch up easily. There are weekly homework assignments and quizzes that I found to be easy as long as you pay attention to the material. Her exams are fair and she gives plenty of resources to prepare for them. DO THE STUDY GUIDES! She provided study guides for every unit and as long as you complete them and understand them you are in great shape for the exams. She also had SI during the semester I took this class and that was extremely helpful too. She is an awesome professor, but she will not round your grade up! I made an 89.98 for the semester and still received a B+. Just make sure to complete the weekly assignments, do the study guides, and if she offers ANY extra credit at the end of the semester, do it! Take any of her courses if you are able to. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:3350 - SO I took this class for a summer semester so the issues I have with the class may be because of how condensed it is. Overall, the class is pretty easy but she is very scattered. Some of the due dates are not clearly shown in one place so i had to email her to find out certain due dates. Also her canvas module page is very annoying to navigate, i felt like everyday i was having to constantly scroll up and down to make sure I finished everything due for the day. The homework isn't difficult at all however you cannot finish it in one sitting, it makes you take a mandatory 6 hour break before finishing it, I just did mine the day before it was due. Her lecture videos started out really short but towards the end of the semester a module for the day would take around 2-3 hours to complete. She gives you a guide to go along with the lecture videos/powerpoint but there often was information in the videos that wasn't on the guide but was on the quizzes, so write everything down she says. Towards the start of the semester we were taking around 2-3 quizzes a day (around 3 - 4 questions) but towards the end it increased to around 9 a day. Her quizzes honestly were so annoying in that like I said, some of the material from the videos were not written in the guide. Not only that but some of the questions were not even covered in the lecture video/powerpoints. However, even with how annoying they were, they were not worth a lot when it came to your grade so I wouldn't sweat them too much. Her tests were pretty easy especially with the study guide she gives for each exam, when filling them out I would also recommend studying the quiz questions as she always added around 5 questions from the quizzes. Also, There was a few times where the study guide would ask to explain something that was never covered in the class but I never saw it on the test either. Overall, pretty easy class with a minimal amount of effort, like I said she is very scattered and there are some technical issues, but overall she's pretty cool and responds to emails pretty quickly. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PSY 3341 - Dr. Michalski is a great professor and I highly recommend her! She does her very best to make sure she makes the format of lecture as simple, organized, and effective towards your learning as possible. Not only that, she is always super eager to answer questions and go over material that you do not understand. I took this class online and we had 5 exams, MindTap homework, participation quizzes on Canvas, and a final exam. It can feel like a lot at times, but only if you wait till the last minute or try to cram. I highly recommend getting your work done early in the week so you can focus on the exam when it comes time for that. Also, please please please use the study guide she gives you. If you fill out the study guide thoroughly you will be set for her exams. Her exams are straight forward and questions are based soley on her study guide she gives. Anyways, take her if you have the option to!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3350 - I LOVE DR.MICHALSKI idk why her rating is so low because she is such a good professor. Probably one of the best in the psych department! I had her during a summer session and she is such a smart woman who really wants students to learn about the material. She adds little personal stories to make the information more relatable and easy to understand. She also gives you outlines for notes so when watching lectures you can follow the outline instead of writing your own notes which is really helpful. The best thing obviously would be her study guides because they are literally the exam. If it’s not on the study guide it’s not on the exam which I liked. She was not ambiguous and didn’t try to trip students up, she was very straight forward. There is a lot of work but it’s manageable and it contributes to you learning the material so I found it to be helpful. There really isn’t a reason you shouldn’t do well in her class. At least passing is not hard in her class. Really great professor. I have had many wonderful talks with her during office hours and she is a very smart professor who loves what she teaches and is good at it. She is also very easy to talk to and fun to talk to as well. She never makes you feel dumb for not knowing something. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:3330 - I liked Dr. Michalski! The content for psychopathology is SUPER interesting and Dr. Michalski adds in little anecdotes and examples that make her lectures super engaging. My biggest problem with this class was the organization - the Canvas page was a little tiresome to navigate at times and the fill-in lectures notes were sometimes a little unclear (same with the study guides, which is just a long paragraph of questions). That being said, I still recommend her a lot! Super sweet and engaging prof! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3330 - I cannot say enough good words about Dr. Michalski. She is amazing, and everyone should take her if they have the chance. She is one of the BEST lecturers I have ever had. She tells lots of stories to help explain the material. (She told us a lot of stories from her time as an EMT for example.) This was asynchronous online (Thanks COVID), but I honestly felt like she structured it better than most profs structure a regular class. She has lecture outlines, assignments on the textbook site that help a ton, and study guides for each exam. She held review sessions for each exam as well. She was very quick to respond to emails, and if anyone ever missed an assignment or was struggling in the class, she would reach out to make sure everyone was able to catch up or improve. Michalski is such a wonderful person and I am so excited to take her again for advanced principles of NSC!!! The workload is decently large, but it's what I expect from a 3000-level course, and all the material was interesting and relevant so I did not mind it. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PSY 3341 - RENEE is literally a gem! I cannot tell you enough how great of a class this was...I have fallen in love with psychology because of this class and professor. When I tell you I would take this class over again, I kid you not. And listen I am a HUGE procrastinator, but this class is easy as long as you put in a little effort. I took it online so I do not know how different in-person class is but you are given 5 exams (NO DROPS) so please do well on exams because they make up a big % of your grade (I failed one, got a B on another, and As on the rest and managed to do well). Her grading scale is not A-/A+ so as long as you get a 90 you got an A. Also, the extra credit on the exams is so easy and really boosted my grade. She also gives these mini-quizzes after lectures which were a pain but were super easy and doable as long as you were paying attention. I did not really take notes and I rarely opened up the textbook. She also has mind-tap assignments which are super easy ways to get points...She swears you cannot complete them in one day but as I said I procrastinate and have completed these mindmap assignments in one day you just have to make sure you have a 6-hour break between each \"session\" and make sure to get the terms correct (or only miss a few). She also gives TONS of easy extra credit on the exams so as long as you can answer the study guide questions you\'re set for the exams! The study guides are key, I did not really go over them aside from the exam study session, but if you study/fill out the study guides you will get an A on exams! Renee is also very reachable and communicates super fast. Overall, I think this was an AMAZING class, literally everything we learned was fun and applicable. RENEE is awesome and her SI KATY is a blessing from Heaven (love her)! Definitely take this class if you want to learn interesting stuff and want an A! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:3341 - I don't understand why Professor Michalski's rating is so low. This class was very interesting! All you have know for the tests are the study guides she provides and you'll ace everyone. She provides outlines for each lecture and it can be hard to fill them out because she jumps all over the place, but she posts the slides so you're able to go back and fill the things you missed in. I really enjoyed this class! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3341 - This is probably one of the easiest classes I've ever taken. I studied pretty much the day of the test every single time and never scored below a 95%. The entire course is pretty much intro to psych, and so if you've already taken that, or the MCAT, this class is absolute cake. Just be sure to fill out the notes and study guide and read that before the test and you're golden. The exams are pretty basic. My only complaint for this class was that the videos she posted online were kinda buggy sometimes, and they wouldn't always align with the note sheets she provides for us to fill out. Sometimes I found myself searching Google for answers on homework and even leaving some parts of the study guide blank because they were nowhere to be found in the online lectures. That being said, she adapted pretty well to online instruction, aside from this. Nothing else to complain about, definitely take this course if you can ! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PSY 3321 - Dr. Michalski is a fantastic teacher and professor. She gives great anecdotes which really helps you understand the material. Despite most things being online, she adapted well and it still felt like a quality course. The exams definitely tested your knowledge and the application of that knowledge but were not impossible. There would be weekly quizzes over the material learned that week, but if you pay attention in class, you will do well on those. There are also some Launchpad assignments that help boost your grade while helping you learn the material. The course grade is set up as 60% for four exams (no drop exam), 20% for the final, 10% for weekly quizzes, and 10% for Launchpad assignments. Take her--you will learn a lot and have fun along the way because Dr. Michalski is great! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3341 - Super sweet lady! I took this class online during COVID, and it was really enjoyable. I wouldn't say that this class is necessarily hard, but you will not do well if you don't try. This isn't an intro level course; it's a upper level psychology course where you actually have to care if you want to do well. Like I said, this course isn't hard and the workload really isn't that bad, but if you blow it off or wait until the last minute to cram, you will most definitely not do well. That being said, she doesn't drop any exams, so please please please take this class seriously! You will actually have to study, but LISTEN TO ME WHEN I SAY DO THE STUDY GUIDES. THEY WILL MAKE THIS CLASS SO MUCH EASIER FOR YOU. IF YOU DO THEM AND LITERALLY ONLY STUDY THOSE, YOU WILL MAKE AS ON EVERY TEST. They're kind of long, so don't wait until last minute to fill them out; do them as you go! But seriously they are so helpful; she will never test you on something that wasn't mentioned in the study guide. As for exams, they are super straightforward. Almost all multiple choice, maybe a few fill in the blank here and there, but the material is more memorization rather than conceptual, which I personally find much easier. If you study over time and do the study guides as you go, you will do more than fine. This is a super fun class. Everything that you learn is really interesting and useful. She's very quick to respond to emails or slack, so don't be afraid to reach out! She really loves her students and wants more than anything to get to know them on a personal level. Highly recommend her! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3341 - This class is an absolute blast. I took this course online due to COVID and I am so glad I did. Dr. M is an amazing teacher, even through the internet. My only regret is that I wish I had gotten to actually meet Dr. M face-to-face because she seems incredible. She really cares about her students as humans. I had a rough fight with COVID during midterms and not only did she continually check in on me, but she asked me numerous times what she could do and if I was okay to take my test (which was after I had recovered). She is super responsive to emails or slack. Also, as far as online classes go, this was my best experience by far. I actually learned in this class. She makes incredible and interesting modules that really teach you the material. I loved the modules. You definitely need to study for exams. However, she gives you study guides for each chapter. If you do the study guide as you cover each chapter, you will be beyond fine. This is a great class with a fantastic professor who I could not recommend more!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:psy 3341 - Dr. Michalski is one of the kindest professors that I've had. She 100% cares about you as a person outside of the classroom. I took her online over the summer and got my wisdom teeth out and she was so helpful during that time period. She offered many times to help me study (ALWAYS TAKE HER UP ON IT....she lowkey tests you with the actual questions). She even gave me extensions on a lot of material! The tests are definitely hard like you actually have to study, but the study guides are KEY. There's definitely more work in this class than most which sucks but it's doable. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:3350 - Such a good teacher for developmental. She gives you study guides so you know exactly what will be on the exams. She is fun and makes the material fun as well. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PSY 3341 - Dr. Michalski was amazing!! Developmental Psych was definitely a lot of work, but an A is more than attainable. She gives you study guides with all the concepts you need to know and page numbers in the textbook- I loved this because you don't have to read most of the textbook, only what she tells you. Fill out the study guide as you go, not right before the test because it is a lot, but if you do this and study it you'll definitely get an A. Dr. Michalski puts a lot of work into her class and trying to make it the best it can be for her students. She's also pretty much always available, even at night. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3341 - Michalski is SUPER helpful!! I started off the semester not doing great and then I met with her and she taught me how to study for her tests and would have tutoring sessions with me. Brought my grade up and she was SO kind about it!! GO TALK TO HER IF U NEED HELP. she's nice I promise!! but DONT FORGET to do your homework!! easy A!!!! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:3341 - Dr. Michalski is AMAZING! While she is the only professor for 3341, I'm SO glad I had her as my professor!!! At the beginning of the semester, I was not a huge fan of her and her exams, but what you put into the course is what you will get out, and I learned that the hard way. I got a 60 on one of the tests, but after talking with her about it, she was determined to get me an A in the class. Pro tip: GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS!! She literally tells you exactly what will be on the test, and if she likes you, she will stay as late as she needs to in order to make sure that you get time with her. Do the study guide before you go in too. She'll quiz you on it and go over the stuff you can't explain very well. OVERALL a wonderful professor. She is fair and just with her grading, it just sucks that it took me half the semester to realize how to study and be her best friend because she literally was. She always wanted to see pictures of my formals and stuff. LOVE HER - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:3341 - I'm honestly not so sure why Dr. Michalski gets so much hate. She is my favorite professor at Baylor. She loves what she does and she cares about her students. Everything she does is to help you!! Her class isn't very difficult, however, its not a blow off. You need to study and put the time into the class to see the results you want. She always tells you to "keep up with the study guides" and thats honestly the best advice I can give to you! Do the study guides and you will kill the tests! Literally everything on there will the tested and almost exactly the way it appears on the study guide. Pay attention to the way she teaches material bc it shows up on tests. If you don't understand something, go to office hours and seek answers!!! you won't leave empty handed! Love her and she will love you!!!!!!!! sic em - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3341 - All I can say is this class was probably one of the worst I've had to take for my degree thus far, simply because of the way it was structured. Her tests were NOT an accurate representation of what I knew. AT ALL. In fact, if we could've dropped one test, I would've gotten an A in this class. The study guides for them were minimum 20 pages each time and with other science classes, it was a task trying to study for them. Her lectures were so boring, it's not even funny. I ended up filling out my study guide midway through the semester as a way of "taking notes" instead of using her jumbled outlines she provided. Please do that, you'll thank me later. The online hw is annoying but does boost your grade. However it is always due on a different day of the week so beware. I really didn't find Dr. Michalski to be very approachable and having to "schedule" to see her was really inconvenient. You will learn pretty quickly that her aunt has every disorder/problem in the book, I'm not even kidding. That along with stories about her former EMT career and pet squirrel, dominated lecture. Overall I really wanted to like this class but I found it to be super unfair and consistently the longest, fast-paced lecture of my life. The good news is, if you can study a good bit for the tests and do well, there are no quizzes or papers in this class. Just don't take it during a semester that you have a heavy course load, if at all possible. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:3341 - I'm not sure why Mrs. Michalski's rating is so low. This is not a hard class if you take notes (on a laptop) and do the review. The test reviews are long but worth it because everything that is on the test is on the review. Tests are multiple choice, fill in the blank terms page and free response (not bad at all). She tells stories during the lecture to help us learn the concepts and remember them. I hated intro to psych because I had a bad professor but I really enjoyed this class. She can be a little scatterbrained at times but overall she is a wonderful professor and I learned a lot from her class! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3341 - Dr. Michalski is a really great teacher. She is very passionate about her work and it is obvious. She is such a sweet lady and is always available to set up appointments to talk about previous tests or the study guide (literally so helpful). The only thing is the study guides are really long and take forever if you do not do them as the class goes, but if you fill out the study after each class, it is fine. Her tests are not that bad but you do have to study. I never read the book or got it, but you need to book to fill out the study guide. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:3321 - I took this class on accident as a freshman because I didn't know what the CRNs meant and I was really worried that I got in over my head. However, this class was awesome. There was no homework at all. the lectures were super interesting and while Dr. Michalski went very fast, she puts the notes online ahead of class so if you print those out and just add to them you'll be fine. I made an A on every test just by reviewing the notes, skimming the chapters and memorizing the drug charts (which doesn't take that long if you make flash cards). Make sure that you go into her office hours to review your tests no matter what grade you get because the final is just a culmination of questions from the previous tests. I HIGHLY recommend taking Dr. Michalski. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1350 - I LOVE Dr. Michalski! She has been the best professor I have had at Baylor! She makes the class so interesting that I wanted to go learn about psychology again (I took this class before with another prof and failed). She gives you study guides, outlines, and stories to help you remember all of the material. After the exams she lets you review it with her during office hours and gives you more tips to help you on the final exam. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:3341 - The course itself is interesting and you will learn a lot. Do the study guides, they are the exam. The exam is hard, don't expect to study just before and do well. Other than the exams there are online assignments for homework, they are easy so make sure to do them to boost your grade. She is very nice, she tells a lot of stories, and overall makes class interesting. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:3341 - Professor Michalski's knowledge of the material rarely extends beyond what she teaches. She failed to answer most of the questions asked by students in class, and often was not able to elaborate on the science behind some of the material. Although she's passionate about this course, the lectures are both stressful and boring because Michalski goes through material way too fast and students are rarely able to fully take notes on her PowerPoint slides. She doesn't put the slides up on Canvas either, and a good amount of material isn't in the textbook but from her lectures. So if you didn't write or type fast enough in class, you have no other way of knowing what she's talking about and you're going to be unprepared for her tests. She's arrogant, and rude to students. She isn't very lenient on tests and won't answer questions about the exam. There is way too much information on the tests, she makes it harder than it needs to be, and there's no drop test or way to boost your grade if you do poorly on an exam. I would never take her again, nor would I recommend her to anyone else. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:3341 - This is not too hard of a class. The lectures are very fast paced and might be boring if you've already taken intro psyc. As long as you do the study guides, you should be fine on the exams. But, you take 4 exams and a final and she does NOT drop any of your exams, so try and do well on all of them. This is what prevented me from getting an A in this class, but it is very doable as long as you don't bomb one of the exams. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:3321 - okay so maybe abnormal psych just isn't for me because I found this class to be extremely hard. I saw her for office hours and I did the readings and I did the study guides and I still found the tests to be pretty hard. She is super fast at teaching. Prof if you are reading this, PLEASE SLOW DOWN YOUR LECTURES. I actually really enjoyed her lectures aside from the speed. Because she goes so fast in the lectures (and sometimes doesn't post the powerpoints) look before class to see if the powerpoint is posted, if its not TAKE PICTURES of each slide (trust me she will not mind) take a picture EVERYTIME she shows the DRUG CHART and keep them throughout the semester because she will not give you a complete one before the final its up to you to make it on your own. Also take notes on what was asked off your study guide after each exam so you know what to focus on when studying for the final. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:Abnormal 3321 - Extremely easy course. Very helpful professor. Ended with a 96. I read the book and did the study guides, studied 3-4 hours prior to the test and memorized the drug charts. Went to her office after every exam because the final was a compilation of the 4 exams (questions were word for word). Do the extra credit, a total of 15 points added to your grade which bumps you 2-3 points. Can be the difference between a B and an A. Lots of material to cover so she goes fast but material is not hard at all. Excited to take her for Developmental 3341. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PSY 3341 - I just have a lot of complaints about her class, but I'll name a few. Her lectures are boring as heck. Bring a laptop to class. Don't try to take notes by hand because she moves way too fast through her powerpoints. Take a picture of long slides too! What annoyed many people in my class was how she would breeze through a slide, and if anyone asked her to go back, she'd simply tell everyone to look it up in the book. She provides lecture outlines, but they aren't even in order with her class lecture, and they contain so many grammatical errors, you spend way too much time correcting them during lecture. Her tests basically come from the study guides, which are very long and annoying to do because she piles everything for a chapter into one bulky paragraph. A lot of the stuff in the study guide isn't even in her lectures, so you'll need the textbook to look them up. The book also does a better job of explaining things too. My study guides were about 12-15 pages long when completed, so definitely do them well before the test comes, or find someone who already took her and didn't burn them in anger. During lectures she tends to drone on and on about her life, aunt, pet squirrel, and being an EMT. While it's cool she's getting personal with her students, some of it is irrelevant to the lecture. Unfortunately, she's the ONLY professor who teaches this course. I'd take anyone else if I could. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:3341 - Dev. PSY: She was okay, the exams are directly from the study guides. Make sure you go over them, I used notecards and it was super helpful. There are 4 exams and a final and besides the "homework," those are your only grades. The online homework is only worth 5-10% of your final grade. Her lectures are based on personal experiences so it's easier to remember the info when you can relate it to an anecdote. Overall, a pretty good class and good luck! - Grade In Class:C
Comments:3321 - The bad news is that Michalski is a generally rude, unhelpful person with a less than bright attitude. The good news is that her class is really straightforward, and actually very interesting. She does go quickly, but she explains some more difficult neuroscience concepts very well, and Ab. psych is really fascinating. Do the study guide and you'll make an A on the tests without having to deal with her rude personality. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PSY 3341 - 4 exams 1 final & goes off a point system based on them. Dr. Michalski goes thru her powerpoints pretty fast so be prepared from the beginning of each class with the lecture outlines on Canvas. If you can get the completed study guides from the previous semester, GET THEM! She asks pretty much the same things over again on her exams & doesn't edit the headings so its almost exactly the same. Exams are pretty much m/c and know definitions to write the word in on the last page of exams. She goes on tangents about her time as an EMT, her aunt, and pet squirrel from a while back. Don't try to talk to her about raising your grade at the end of the semester bc what you get is what you "earned." Wouldn't recommend but she is the only prof who teaches developmental psychology ;/ - Grade In Class:D
Comments:3321 - Tests are very straightforward. Just go to class and take notes. Although it's easy, it's very informative and extremely interesting. What's on the study guide is what is on the test. I highly recommend the class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1301 - Personally, I love Michalski, and a big reason is because I took advantage of her office hours a lot during the semester and would ask her any questions on the study guide that I wasn't clear on. I found her to be really helpful as long as you don't wait until the last minute to ask her for help. As just about everyone else has said, she's extremely scatterbrained and she does fly through her powerpoints which makes it hard to get all the material down. I didn't even use her outlines because they were too disorganized for me, I basically just did my best to get down all the info on the powerpoints. Bringing a computer is smart if you can type faster than you write. As long as you do the study guide and study it, her tests will not be hard at all. Oh, also, don't wait until the last minute to start on the study guides... it will take a lot longer than you expect. And beware of the neuroscience unit - it's definitely the most material of all four. There are four tests and a cumulative final exam, and the lowest non-final exam grade is dropped. Overall, I really liked the class! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Intro - 4 tests and that's it, so make them count. I used flashcards that was the most effective way to study. Don't be afraid to use the books to check on things you aren't solid on. Difficult for an intro class but you'll pull through. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3321 - This grade is solely based on test grades (4 of them plus a final), I hate classes like that. Michaski flies through the power points and distributes horrible study guides. The book doesn't even help with the study guides, because the pages numbers on the study guide don't match the page numbers in the book. Michalski was obviously very passionate about her aunt and parents, as well as her previous job as a paramedic-- not so much as a helpful professor. - Grade In Class:C+
Comments:1301 - This class was super interesting but Dr. M was so unorganized. She gives outlines of notes online but those are so scattered and unorganized. There is no order to the class but she does give a study guide and if you know everything on it and can fill it out, you will get an A on the test. I got a B+ because of the neuroscience unit which will whoop your ass. She is so unorganized and it takes her 2 weeks or so to get your grades back. Overall, I learned a lot but the organization was awful and if you email her, don't expect a response. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1305 - I loved Dr. Michalski and this course. She is, however, extremely scatterbrained when it comes to teaching but I typically like my classes less structured. All of her test questions come straight off of the study guide she provides prior to the exam. There's no homework, but I did have to study quite a bit for the exams. I also highly recommend going the SI for this class; it's extremely helpful. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PSY 3321 - Terrible professor, like all the other reviews have said, she is rude and doesn't care about her students. Her tests are pretty easy, however, the matching was kind of annoying. Her stories about working as a paramedic were the only amusing part of class to look forward to. If you know a lot about psychology and disorders, take her class since it would be an easy A, otherwise I'd recommend trying to find another professor. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:3341 - this lady is definitely not great. so unorganized and you can tell that by just looking at her desktop. super rude. but this class is SO easy. take all 7 skips for this class because you'll need them. i never payed attention in class, but if you do the review its exactly like the tests. if you're taking this class, you're probably a nursing major, so ask one of your older friends for the reviews for this class. a lot of this stuff was a repeat of into to psych so if you did ok in that you'll do well in this class. although the lectures are REALLY boring, this class is really easy - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:3350 - I really wanted to like Ms. Michalski, but she was so disorganized and cared so little for her students outside of class that it became ridiculous. For Lifespan Human Development, we are assigned to write a Topic Paper pertaining to developmental psychology. I wasn't sure if my topic was a good fit, so I sent her an email. After she didn't reply, I talked to her after class and she said she would get back to me. After her not getting back to me again, I sent yet another email asking her about my paper. No response. Even her syllabus seemed quickly thrown together. It says we had three tests in one spot, then four tests in another. It says the final exam is worth 100 points in one place and worth 150 in another. It also states that the final exam is different than the other exams in the sense that you cannot drop it, but to my surprise at the end of the semester, no tests are dropped at all. With all that said, in class she is a very kind, fun, and caring teacher. I really wanted to like her, but her inability to communicate with the students, failure to report grades into Blackboard, and overall disorganized course made me feel the need to give her a poor score. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:3350 - God, I hate this woman. She is so disorganized, and untimely, and rude. I hated every moment of this class, but it is SO INCREDIBLY EASY. And I knew it would be, so I took it. I actually didn't do as well as I thought I would do on her tests (ranged from ~75-97), but I didn't study for them, except for completing the study guides. The tests are about 20-30 multiple choice, and then there's the 5-7 short answer. Short answer usually has you matching, defining, completing a diagram, or making a chart (like the milestones for each age). She goes over these in detail in class, so it's pretty easy to guess what she's going to ask for short answer. Overall, the material was somewhat interesting, the class was SO boring, and the teacher is horrible, but the class is an easy A. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:4355 - She is unbelievably scatterbrained. You can't depend on her to do anything. Her email box is always full so it takes her a while to get your emails. She has lost student's tests and assignments. She sometimes forgets to record student's grades so make sure you keep your assignments in case she requests something back from you. 4 exams and a final, she drops the lowest exam grade. It takes her forever to grade anything... Grades were supposed to be up for her class on bear web yesterday and she still has not posted her class grades. She's ridiculous. I don't even know if I actually got a B because she doesn't post grades on Blackboard. She said she would do it so we could see how we were doing in the class, but she never did it. Her tests are very detailed so be prepared to study hard for her class. Also, before our last exam she decided to make lots of changes on the study guides THE NIGHT BEFORE the exam. Who does that?! This class is unpredictable. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:Intro to PSY - I liked her! She was very clear-more then most BU proffs and had lots of study tools. If you pay attention in clas and do the study guides you will not even need to buy the book! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1305 - UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU EVER TAKE DR. MICHALSKI. If you've heard this is the easy psych class, you are wrong. She is literally the worst professor i've ever had, she is rude, arrogant, and her tests are impossible. The only upside is that the only homework in the class is the tests and the study guides, but the study guides are super long, and the tests don't come in majority from the study guides. I studied 8 hours the day before one of her tests and got a78. Don't take Michalski even if your life depends on it. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:3341 - Dr. Michalski, while being a very smart and caring professor, is BY FAR this MOST scatter brained professor I have EVER had. At least once a week, you can count on her showing up 10 minutes late to class. She lost numerous tests of her students (never my own, though), probably due to the fact that her office is a disorganized blackhole. Her tests were not a good measure of my understanding of the material. This class is an intro for non-majors, and I had to put in 4x the amount of work compared to classes for my business majors. She does a very poor job of telling us what is going to be on the tests, her study guides are merely an outline of "what you could be tested on". Not only that, but the tests are EXTREMELY detailed. There's 4 tests and a final - she drops your lowest test grade. So you end with 3 tests and a final. You WILL need that dropped grade. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:PSY/MH 3341 - Dr. Michalski treated this 3000 level course almost like a weed-out course, showing little tolerance for misinterpreting test questions. Also, she sped through slides during her lectures, not allowing the students to get most of the information on each slide. She was adamant that she never puts her powerpoints on blackboard, which I don't understand at all. And then she expected us to know every bit of the info on the powerpoints for the test even though we didn't have access to them and hardly had time to read them during lecture, much less take notes on any of the information. I took this as a Medical Humanities elective and expected a good amount of mutual respect to be present in the class (since it IS a junior-level class), but she acted like she didn't want us to do well in the class. Because of this, she lost nearly all credibility with me and with every other person in the course to whom I talked. About 90% of this class I had already learned in Intro Psychology, especially the first half of the semester. Because of this, it was very boring and only became interesting to me late in the semester. Again, it's a junior/3000-level course, so we don't need to spend an entire class period studying the parts of a neuron or the Triangular Theory of Love. Many things we studied were just redundant from other classes and I didn't enjoy that part of it. Also, we had no idea what exactly to study because she doesn't put the powerpoints on blackboard and her study guides consist of one run-on sentence with semicolons and random vocabulary words that don't tell us exactly what is important and what will be the biggest topics covered on the test. I think I emailed her 3 times with questions and on average, she took 3-4 days to write back and the responses were very concise and not very helpful. Good thing the class and tests are pretty easy, and there is no homework or quizzes, or else it would've been pretty miserable. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:4355 Aging - The class is 3 tests (she dropped the lowest), 6-7 daily assignments, a 3 or 4 page paper over a book, and the final. The info isn't too hard to grasp, but you will have to study. Before each test she sends out a list of things to know and possible essay questions and if you know all of that you will be fine. I never read the book, just studied power points. She talks about her great-aunt a lot, which can be kind of annoying but also it why she knows so much on the subject. She takes a while to get things graded, but she seems to have a lot going on. The assignments were simple and didn't take long at all. I'd recommend her. Not hard to make an A, not guaranteed A either - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3341 - Dr. Michalski is an unhelpful, rude, dismissive professor. She doesn't have time for her students and never responds to e-mails. In fact, there were times where she would not even come to her own office hours! She hardly even knew her own material; there were a ton of mistakes on every test. Though she provides a helpful study guide, she never sticks to it. Take anyone else if you can!!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3341 - Her lectures are not helpful, she does not stick to the book, and her tests are extremely difficult. Do any extra credit activities she offers, if any, because your grade will need it. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:1305 - I love Dr. Michalski and look forward to her class every week. We never have homework, only optional study guides before each test. The test questions basically come from the study guide so it's really helpful to do them. You can make an A on the tests if you really study the guides. Class is fun because she supplements her powerpoints with personal stories from when she was an EMT. It's very interesting. She is so helpful if you come to her after class and always welcomes you to her office hours. I enjoyed her class so much that I switched my major to psychology. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3341 - Absolutely terrible professor. One of the worst I have had and I've had a lot. It's amazing she still has a job because everyone I talked to finds her rude, unhelpful, and careless. She is very, very disorganized and there are no excuses for that. She lost one of my friends exams (fortunately had recorded the grade) but could not return it to her. It also took her three weeks to get our exams back- THREE WEEKS! That is absolutely unacceptable. I was very disappointed. Her lectures were terrible and so were her exams. She does not know how to teach. Do not take her. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:1305 - She mummbles a lot and goes off topic in class with stories about her life as an EMT, but the class itself is really easy. I never read the book. All I did was fill out her study guides a day or two before the exam and it helped so much. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3341 - Dr. Michalski is a decent professor--not bad but not outstanding. She is a little bit disorganized, but that could be due in part to the course being assigned the newer version of the book. The class is pretty cut and dry. There are 4 exams and a final. Of the 4 regular exams, you are able to drop one. The exams are mostly multiple choice and then there is a vocabulary portion which is fill-in-the-blank and there is an essay portion. Dr. Michalski is a really likeable person, just not my favorite professor. Also, she tends to take her time getting our grades back to us. She does have study guides for the exams and they are extensive. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:Developmental Psychology - Dr. Michalski is an okay teacher. She is really nice, but is not the best at responding to her students. You go through powerpoints in class and then take a test over them. She does give a review for each test, which is pretty helpful. Her tests are not that bad. They are multiple choice with about 10-15 fill in the blank vocabulary. Dr. Michalski is NEVER available though. If you email her she DOES NOT RESPOND which is super annoying!!! Also, she was frequently LATE TO CLASS and she never had our tests graded in a timely manner. One time it was took her over THREE WEEKS to grade our tests. Horrible. Take a different professor if you can!!! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Human Development - I don't understand how people have had positive experiences with her. Hands down, the worst professor I've had at Baylor. And I'm a senior. She is so rude, seriously doesn't care at ALL if people are learning the material. She was incredibly rude to me when I tried to make up a test, and every other time I visited her office she made me feel like I was wasting her time. The class is interesting, but you better know how to write or type fast to keep up. She flips through her slides fast and won't go back to any--several people have asked her to, and she refuses. Tests are hard. Final is comprehensive from all the previous tests. Seriously... take someone else. - Grade In Class:C
Comments:3321 - she was very rude when i tried to go ask for help. her final comes straight from all the old tests and is pretty easy. read the book and know the major points and youre good. if you dont like talking to profs and just want to go to classes you can get by with A in this class. however if you like to interact with profs then she is definitely not the lady to take. i dont personally recommend her. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:PSY 1305 - This class is so easy. I never read, and I made A's on all the tests, including the final. All I did was pay attention and take notes in class, and finish the study guides. I stopped going to SI because I didn't need to go. I'm so glad I took her and not the other team taught class. I don't think I would've done so well with them. Dr Michalski is a great lecturer. She gives you mnemonics in class to help you remember things, and I learned almost everything. What I didn't learn in class, I learned by doing the study guides. However, I went to her office hours and she was RUDE! So I wouldn't go to her office hours. If you need extra help, you should go to Aly, the SI leader. She's really nice. But despite her rudeness, this was the one class I knew I could blow off and still get an A. I would recommend you take her! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Lifespan - Awesome Teacher! A lot of studying before tests to make a good grade but it is not unreasonable plus she gives i written review... offers an extra credit opportunity also... grade was made up of 1 project, 3 test grades, grade from a chart you have to do, and a final. Very nice teacher too I definitely recommend this class with this teacher. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1305 - Dr. Michalski is awesome! She is one of my favorite teachers. She is SO helpful in her office. There is no workload in the course except for studying. Do the study guides and review the notes for the exams, and you will do fine. Get the experiments done at the beginning of the semester. I did the 15 extra experiments for extra credit, and it really made a big difference, plus it was fun. I found this class so interesting and really enjoyed it. Take her! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3321 - Abnormal Psychology was a very interesting class. She shows a lot of clips to show examples of different disorders. She usually asks something about the clips on the exams. Her class just consisted of exams, NO quizzes, NO assignments. She offered an extra credit movie review and Sona experiments. I didn't bother doing it because my grade was fine. I did two Sona online experiments. Do the Study Guide and you should make an A on the exams. She does DROP ONE exam. I thought the first exam was the hardest because there was an essay and she was kind of picky. The next two exams had the drug charts, which you just have to memorize. The questions are pretty straight forward. Just study the study guide! She will only let you view the exams before the next exam so if you want to go view them, go as soon as possible. She will NOT let you write anything down, but she will write down the ones you got wrong for you. The Final is just OLD exam questions and a couple of questions over the new material. It was very easy if you remember the old exam questions and just study all three study guides. I highly recommend taking this class if you're looking for an easy A with no work. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Intro Psych - Although she can come off as kind of rude sometimes, Michalski is a great Psych prof. Her notes are disorganized, but she posts class notes on Blackboard. My advice is to use the class notes to fill in the study guides but take your own notes in class. I studied the night before each exam and made A's on all of them. There are four tests and a final. You get to drop your lowest reg. exam grade. The final is long and cumulative. But if you save your study guides from each test, it's basically made of old test questions. Take her if you can! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - Dr. Michalski is extremely informative and you can really tell that she cares about the subject that she is teaching. Her informative stories and engaging lecturing techniques really help you to learn the material in class and save you a lot of study time on your own. I did well in this class because I went to SI (her SI, Aly is amazing!) and made flash cards. Also, make sure to get your research participation out of the way at the beginning of the semester! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1300 - I got a B in this class, but Michalski accidently recorded it as a D. Because of this I had to go through a million forms to get my gade changed to the correct grade, which was a B. She is unorganized, unhelpful and scatter brained. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!! - Grade In Class:D
Comments:1305 - Tests are not too bad. Time consuming to study for but no more than any other college course. As long as you follow the study guide for each test you should be absolutely fine. Reading the chapters is beneficial but definitely not necessary. Her notes are super frustrating so don't even worry about printing them off. I learned later in the semester to just write/type what she presented in class. 4 tests, drops 1, and final is comprehensive. Make sure you do the research study sessions early on so you're not pressed for time at the end of the semester and so you have to option to get extra credit! Last thing, she takes roll daily but by the end of the semester she didn't pass out the roll sheet. Absolutely recommend her! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Lifespan - She was the best teacher. Easy ex cred. I made B's on all the tests though. The final exam is really easy. TAKE HER!!!! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:Lifespan - got all the grades back to us super late, didn't even know my grades for the last half of the semester. class is boring, all powerpoint, she doesnt post on blackboard, she does give study guides that really help on the exams. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1305 - This woman is superrr rude. She's hard to talk to and completely unavailable during finals of all times. She's just a really bitter mean old lady. Her class is easy though. She doesn't take attendence and her tests were easy, so I didn't really go to class and studied the night before every test and did fine - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Lifespan and Abnormal - Great teacher although lectures can sometimes get boring......her tests have study reviews, do that and you will have no problems. She also drops the lowest test grade :) She is very nice and willing to help. I enjoyed both classes and would strongly suggest taking her - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:lifespan dev. - I really like this professor a lot.She gave print outs of the powerpoints for OALA students, which was really helpful/nice of her. her animal stories/videos/stories in general add interest into the class. she also has pneumonic sp? devices that help on tests. Tests are a true reflection on what we cover in class. she is fair, which is a rare quality in my experiance with the science dept. I recommend her. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1305 - Michalski is so great. She teaches in such an effective way, and I've actually found myself telling other people stuff that we've learned in her class! She gives a study guide for every test with direct questions and corresponding page numbers so it makes it seem like you don't even have to go to class. She took attendance every day until the first test, but after that she never took it again. I'd totally recommend her. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3321 - Dr. M was super cool when I took her for Ab Psych, she does give examples of the material very well. Her videos are a little old but funny and helpful when test time comes around. The hardest part of her test which would not have been so hard if I had actually studied that were THE DRUG CHARTS!!!! Know those by heart and you will do fine. I'm now taking her for lifespan and she is awesome so for too!!! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:Lifespan - Dr. Michalski is an incredible professor. Even though she was not always available this semester due to family emergencies, she was still incredibly helpful and understanding. This class is quite easy, especially if you have a background in other psychology classes. Read the book and DO THE STUDY GUIDE every time. The study guide is the single easiest way to prepare for the test. I highly recommend this class! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3321 - Abnormal Psych is a really interesting class, and Dr. Michalski is a great professor for it. She has lots of stories and shows videos rather than just lecturing the whole time. The grades come only from exams, which weren't too hard if you show up for class and do at least a little review of your notes beforehand. Make sure to take notes, though, because her handouts vary from the Powerpoints a lot. Great course, I really recommend taking her! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3321 - Abnormal Psych is for non-psych majors, and Dr. Michalski understands that. 4 mid-term exams which she drops the lowest grade, and then the final. Not too bad at all. She posts outlines of the lectures online, but you will have to take notes on these outlines because they are a little outdated compared to her powerpoints. Tests are Multiple choice, with a writing section, on test 1 it was a diagram of the neuron where we had to write about neurotransmitter function (which we went over and over again for three days before the test!) and then for tests 2-4 it was the Drug Chart, which she gives you what will go in each box for each drug during lecture. My hardest part was test 4, and that was because I realized that my tests 1,2,&3 were going to be my highest ones, so I skipped several days in that unit. Overall if you go to class, pay attention, take notes, and study for 1-2 hours for the test, you should get a B or an A. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 Intro to Psych - Dr. Michalski makes Psychology very interesting. All of her lectures are on PowerPoint and she frequently shows videos for examples. All of the notes are online so you can print them out, but you will still need to make side notes because the ones online are not exact. There are 4 tests but you get to drop one, which helps a lot especially the neuroscience one. She has a whole unit on neuroscience, which is quite difficult. I had to study a ton to make A’s on the tests. I would have to say that she is a really good teacher and cares about the subject matter as well as her students. BUT this was a really hard class to make an A in so if you want an easier social science, I would pick something other than psychology. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3321 - Her class was very intersting, especially because she always has a lot of cool stories and movie clips. She was a big spaz and never returned things quickly. Her tests are not hard at all. I would start craming the night before and I never got less than an 88 on a test. Overall, very enjoyable and easy. Oh, and I suggest coming to class because some of the movie clips and stories that she tells end up on the test. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Intro Psychology - She was an excellent teacher and gave study guides for all the tests. If you take good notes in class, the study guides are easy to do and those will help immensely with the tests. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:Abnormal Psychology - This class is not hard if you read over the notes. You don't have to study as the class goes along. Studying a total of 6 hours for the test will get you AT LEAST a B. The test are long and somewhat repetitive, but not hard. I put in minimal effort and went to class just enough to fulfill the attendance policy and got a B - Grade In Class:B
Comments:Intro - Dr. Michalski is extremely helpful. She definitely enjoys what she teaches and she makes each class interesting by telling us stories and showing videos. She is such a nice lady and is willing to help you if you dont understand something. Her tests are not that difficult but make sure you take notes during class. She does post notes but they are not helpful because they are out of order with her lectures and you will find yourself trying to find where she is rather then paying attention. Her tests come strictly from lecture and they are multiple choice. Take her if you get the chance! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:Human Lifespan - Great professor. You really don't need the book. No final exam - just a chart that you complete during the semester. Four tests... Drop one. My lowest test grade was a 98. The other two were 99's. I got a 106 on the outside project. Riiiidiculously easy. But interesting too! You just won't learn too much. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3321 - To pass the class, you simply need to attend class and pay attention. Do the movie extra credit because it's not very difficult and kind of fun. Make sure to memorize the drug chart! Know it front and back! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - Dr. Renee Michalski is a wonderful professor. I took her class in the fall of 2007, and I learned a lot. I looked forward to going to class every day that I had her class. She provides a study guide for the tests, and all you really have to do is remember the definitions to do well on her multiple choice exams. She has tons of random, funny stories that will help you remember the material. I didn't need to go to SI, though it was helpful. Just make sure that you complete the study guide, and you'll ace the class. And by the way, the final is compiled of questions from all the other tests. Take her. She's great! :) - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Human Development - Dr. M is a wonderful teacher. I really enjoyed her lectures and the tests weren't that terrible if you studied for them ( I would have made an A but I had five other class that were harder and required more study time). She always supplemented each of her lectures with video clips that really helped you learn about the development or disorder you were discusssing. Very helpful with hw and the museum project, for which you went to the museum on campus and got to play with everything so you could tell her about it in one sentence or answer a question about it). I never missed a lecture because I found her that good of a prof. There were never quizzes so that cut down on my study time for this class. The tests were mostly from her lectures, once in a while you'd have to look something up in the book, but mostly i just cut and pasted everything from her lectures to a study page. Tests were mostly multiple choice with some matching, a page of terms(easy ones + bonus ones) and maybe a very short answer essay, not even a full paragraph, from a video that we watched. If you're looking for an interesting class that will teach you something useful and not overload you with a bunch of junk take Human Development with Dr. Michalski, you certainly won't regret it. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1305 - This was an AWESOME class and a great professor! I really enjoyed it. You almost don't have to read the textbook and the tests are very straightforward and easy. I recommend taking her class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - Not going to lie, my hand hurts everytime i leave her lectures, you need to be able to write or type fast to get every little detail in, but i'm sure you could find it in the book too. That being said, she is an awesome teacher who knows her stuff. She has fun examples and videos for a lot of the topics and her tests are all multiple choice and very easy if you study. I plan on taking her abnormal psych class if i get the chance. Definitely take her if you can! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PSY1305 and PSY3341 - Michalski is great. Don't bother printing off the outlines because they usually don't match up with her actual powerpoint presentations. If you just take notes from her lecture and the powerpoint you will basically have your study guide done already. Her classes are interesting; she shows lots of video clips. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - She is a great prof, and involves a lot of interesting, personal experiences to her lectures. She is very helpful if you have questions or if you do poorly on a test, she will go over all the questions you missed. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:lifespan - easiest. class. ever. take my word for it - i studied for the tests for maybe an hour at the most, and had no trouble making an A. if you show up to class and pay attention/take notes, you'll have no trouble recalling the information for her tests. the "big project" takes maybe 45 minutes to complete, and is actually fun and enjoyable. her final was take home and all you had to do was cut and paste, which was amazing in the midst of studying for other finals. the class is a little dull, but i learned a lot, and got an easy A, so i would definitely recommend it. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - great teacher! funny, interesting, and great teaching style. do the reviews before the exams and you should get and A. I would even take this class as an elective! - Grade In Class:B
Comments:1305 - She makes class interesting by incorperating cool videos of related topics. Although the comfortable seats in the class made it tough to stay awake, she was affective at keeping the class involved. As long as you know the study guides she gives well then you will do awesome. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Intro to Psych - Listen. I've taken Psychology twice. Once in high school, once here at Baylor. Michalski KNOWS what she's talking about. If you read the book (which is INCREDIBLY interesting), you will do well. If you don't read the book, you can still probably pull a 'B' on the tests. Go to SI's. They're incredibly helpful. I made a '98' on the first test. And the class is awesome. What more can you ask for? Warning: Michalski has her PHd in Neuroscience - the study of the brain. If you're more interested in the social aspect of Psychology, pick another professor. She's big-time into the brain (which is neuroscience.) - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - Tests are tough because they are like 0 or 80 questions, but they are multiple choice and if you do the review right you can atleast make a c on them. I would do the extra credit experiments because in th syllabus it says they are worth one point, but she changed them to 2 points at the end of the semester and I did 12 so i got 24 points added on to my final grade. Doing 12 experiments takes up alot of your time though, most people do 2 or 3. - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:Psychology 1305 - Absolutely the best teacher I have ever had! You have to take good notes in class though. There are only four tests for the entire class; no quizzes or homework. She gives study guides for each test so just make sure to do them and you should get As. If there is ever a problem definetly go talk to her. She is amazing!! I failed the first test and she went over the entire test with me! For the next three tests my grades were 70, 89, 94. And I passed the final. She is most times available, but she is a graduate student. Even if the class is closed when you are getting ready to register, beg her to get in!! It will be absolutely worth it. :D - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:PSY 3321 - michalski is great. she is very interactive and is more that willing to talk to you outside of class. the tests come straight from the study guide which come straight from the lecture notes. they are very straight forward. good class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3321 - I took this class towards a medical humanities minor. I didn't buy the book, and I was fine. The tests are straight from lecture, so if you miss class, get the notes from someone else because her online notes are not complete. There is basically no outside work, and the tests are straightforward, all I did for the test was reread the notes. She is very clear in class and her points are very clear. I would definately recommend this class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - Best class ever. I loved her. She is pretty much a walking textbook and shows lots of videos to explain. Fun and entertaining. Big classes though. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305 - I LOVED her class! She is a GREAT teacher and very willing to help if you need it. She keeps her lectures interesting by making random jokes and showing video clips. I really really enjoyed her class, and am probably going to try and take her for abnormal psych. I would highly recommend her for Intro! GREAT professor! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:Psy 1305 - My favorite teacher so far (and that;s saying a lot). Believe me, take her, you will not regret it. AWESOME. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3321 - One of my fave profs. Don't bother to buy the book; the tests are all from the lectures, and she provides the notes online. She uses a lot of videos of patients to illustrate concepts, which was really helpful. I'd love to take her again. A definite must, also, if you're pre-med and interested in psychiatry. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3321 - I liked that there was barely any outside work or class work to do. There was just the exams and 1 project (movie review). She also gives opportunities for extra credit. The tests were not too hard. I mainly studied the notes that she makes available over the Internet. The tests are multiple choice, and some free response. The free response usually just requires memorizing a chart. I enjoyed the class and learned a lot. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:intro to psych - I LOVED THIS CLASS! IT WAS SO FUN AND SHE'S AMAZING! I would take her if you can because I wish I could take tons of classes with her- reasonable workload, extra credit and funny! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3321 - I LOVED THIS CLASS! Because of Michalski, I'm considering double majoring in psychology. She's FANTASTIC! Her class is extremely easy- I took it my first semester of college. Although it's easy, it's very informative and extremely interesting. Her tests are straight forward. What's on the study guide is what is on the test. I highly recommend her class. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:PSY 3321 - This class was almost no work at all and it was extremely easy. I liked most (not all) of the film clips in the class and there are days where people are presenting their extra credit assignments and many of the other people just skipped class. I did learn a ton of useful stuff though. - Grade In Class:A
Comments:1305-01 - A wonderful professor to say the least! Offers plenty of extra credit opportunities, you just gotta do em. Her tests are pretty thorough, but no surprises...All her notes can be found on her website! Makes Psychology interesting!!! - Grade In Class:B+
Comments:1305 - Best teacher I've ever had. She is extremely funny and very interesting. I never once fell asleep or was bored by one of her lectures...And she has a pet squirell. Who couldn't help loving that? Take her! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:intro to psych - She is a pretty cool professor, and she offers a lot of extra credit. She drags out her lectures a little, but its not that bad. Mrs. Michalski is nice also, and she is definitely a big help. - Grade In Class:B
Comments:3341 and 1305 - had her for both psychology courses (survey of human development and intro to psy).. she is a great teacher! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:3321 - SHe is an awesome prof..definetly my favorite at baylor..her abnormal psych class is extremely interesting and not at all difficult if u just read the notes she gives u and do the review befor the test...shouldnt have a hard time making an A..she is great! - Grade In Class:A
Comments:She is a great teacher! I think that her class is really interesting and easy! I stay very intrigued! I would definitely recommend her...she knows her stuff!
Comments:Just study your notes and read, and the class is a breeze. If you need/want to take Abnormal Psych, she's DEFINITELY the way to go. Her lectures are never boring.
Comments:Her lectures are interesting and she has a great presentation style; in Lifespan she has a big project that requires a lot of work; she is actually a grad student
Comments:Renee has lecute notes posted on her website, so you basically follow her lecute in class with her notes. You might have to occasionally write a few things here there. You really don't need the book unless you dont understand something or if you want to reinforce something.
Comments:Renee is an amazing teacher. I learned so much in her class. I would honestly say she is the best teacher I have had so far. Her lectures are intresting, and the test come straight from the lecture. She also gives extensive reviews on her web site for each tests. I would take her again anyday
Comments:She did a grat job teaching and used power point for all of her presentations. Every class she showed some type of video clip. So if you are a visual learner this is a great class for you.

Comments:Abnormal psych under Michalski is a breeze. I learned a lot, but not at the expense of a lot of time or undue effort.
