Comments:1407 - I literally loved. Loved. LOVED. Dr. Ferraro and his class. As an anthropology major who's looking to go into bioarchaeology, I thrived in his class. Some people complain he talks fast, but I think thats to each their own. If you can't keep up with faster-paced speakers, you simply won't do as well in college and lecture-settings. Lab was so so fun, I had Lyndsay and she was the greatest, but I know the other lab professors are all super awesome as well. This class definitely prepared me for going on the SGARP Baylor Archaeological Study Abroad trip (you should all go!) in Italy. It was fun, it taught me things, and it made me so excited for my future career!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:3308 - Methods of Arc: This class was super fun! It's a great way to get some field work action onto your resume. You're outside in the 'field' almost the whole semester, and that can be rough when its August in Texas. But Dr. Ferraro is super chill in this class, and makes it very fun! Would recommend this course for upper level ARC!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ANT 4302 - Overall, this class is one of my favorites at Baylor. Arch Theory is such an expansive topic so you'll learn about the transitions between periods of archeaology and anthropology very well. Dr. Ferraro always brought cookies and coffee which definitely kept us awake for a late-afternoon class. The readings can be quite dense but hearing everyone's perspectives on them can be interesting. Overall, definitely recommend this class especially if you want to pursue anthropology/archeaology in the future.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:1407 - Do not take his class. He talks super fast and his test are super hard. His class is juts composed of the test and lab. Nice guy, i guess but not helpful in anyway,  - Grade In Class:D

Comments:1407 - He is a nice man. I took him for Archaeology, which is his strong suit. He is very educated on this topic and super helpful when you need help. However, do not have expectations going in because this course is very hands-off. The course consists of a lecture and a lab. These are a bit boring as he lectures the entire time through both. The lab is an online assignment that takes maybe an hour and is super easy because he grades off of effort. There are also four exams, including the final (non-cumulative). He drops the lowest grade of the first three exams and curves the final grade. He really does want everyone to succeed and this class is an easy A. Not much studying is needed so I would take this class if you are looking for an easy A. In all, super easy, just can be a little dry at times, but it is an easy lab credit, especially if you are someone who is not good at science.   - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Intro to Arch. - I absolutely love archaeology and was excited to take this class, but it’s a tad boring. It’s full of very convoluted slideshows that aren’t helpful for tests. I recommend studying the book the most. I enjoyed it in the end, but it’s hard if you are only taking it for an elective. The lab is very hands off and quite confusing as well. I love Dr. Ferraro though and think he's super funny!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:intro to archaeology - (do not have final grade yet) Honestly, Intro to Archaeology as an anthro major was not that exciting. You are required to take a lab with the course. The lab is just an extra lecture that meets once a week. We get to look at replica artifacts but can't really touch anything. I was hoping for more hands-on learning, but maybe that is in the upper-level archaeology classes. Sitting and listening to 225 minutes of lecture every week and not being able to see anything in practice was underwhelming. I think this class can be restructured to get people interested in archaeology. Dr. Ferraro is very passionate about the subjects, but doesn't do a very good job exciting his students. I have trouble remembering concepts or knowing how to study because I find the information boring. I usually fall asleep to the History Channel or Discovery Channel shows that my dad watches, and man these intro to archaeology lectures put me to sleep too lol. Definitely an easier lab science if you need that credit, though.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:osteology - this class is no joke. absolutely go to the lab hours if you can!!! i would study for a week before and still not get a great grade, so it's definitely a hard class and important to carve out time to be around the bones in person!  - Grade In Class:C

Comments:3331 - Great class and a great professor. Makes lots of time for his students and helps out when he can. Loved every bit of this class despite the workload.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:BIO ANTH - I took him for African Anthropology and Biological Anthropology both, and he is the best professor at Baylor in my book. I love his sense of humor, how he has a vast and intimate knowledge of the material but still comes across as a regular guy.. personable and really easy to talk with about anything. His research in Africa is amazing and he and his wife are both tops in the field. You won't regret taking the time to get to know Professor Ferraro.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Intro to Anthro - Ferraro was the listed professor, but they decided to experiment and actually have the course taught by 3 different professors in segments. if thats what theyre doing, I wouldnt suggest taking it. It was my first B so far in college, you cant adjust t their testing styles because theyre all different. Ferraro was an alright professor, hard to follow his power points or know whats useful for tests.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1305 - Ferraro was a straightforward, enjoyable prof. He posts all of his lectures on BB so you can study before a test. There were no quizzes or HW at all and the tests were pretty easy.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Osteo - Joe's a cool guy. Makes lotsa dorky jokes and comments that keep you interested in the material. The class itself is not that difficult. Classes usually consist of a lecture lasting 45ish minutes and then open lab to review what you just learned. Study the bones and you're good to go. He grades very leniently on the research paper (the lowest score in our class was an 85) as well as the John Doe Project.  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:1305 - SUCHHH a helpful teacher. When I made a couple bad test grades he met with me once a week to review notes and give me a sort of spark notes version. he tests more on concepts and not purely fact. GREATTT teacher and really wants his students to succeed. plus I was never bored during his lectures  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:Fors Anthro - Joe is an amazing teacher! he makes every class interesting, and although the tests are kind of difficult(really know your articles!!!), it's a very rewarding class.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:ForsAnth - Joe's an awesome teacher. He definitely expects a lot from his students, but he's always very helpful and cares that we learn the material. He seems really excited about teaching and makes his classes super interesting, like when we sawed up bones to see the different marks made by different saws. It was awesome. Totally take Joe. His classes rock!  - Grade In Class:B+

Comments:Osteo - Joe is an odd fellow but he appears to like teaching. He is a safe take but be prepared to study a little extra since he is hard to communicate with.  - Grade In Class:B

Comments:1390 - Okay, word to the wise the powerpoint lectures being put on Blackboard takes some time. This class really took little effort just attending class and taking the test. On the tests the people who actually do the readings get some points. The tests consist of 50 multiple choice questions (20 being T/F) and about two essay questions. The grade is curved so one shouldn't worry so much. Joe is a great teacher even though he concentrates in my opinion on minute irrelevant details. He enjoys what he does and has a quirky sense of humor. If you're taking this course take Joe.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:FORS 4355 - I love Joe! Sure, he's a little quirky but that's what makes him awesome. He's also got kind of a dark sense of humor, but I love it. He's very personable and you can tell he thoroughly enjoys what he teaches. But don't think that makes his tests easy! He definitely expects you to learn and understand the material. I had him for osteology as well and found that he's much more laid back in forensic anthropology. Our midterm was part practical, part essay. Our final was completely essay (which I was very grateful for). Grades consist of a paper, the John Doe project, midterm and final. Overall I would totally recommend him and am looking forward to death, injury and physical remains.  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Human Osteology - I really enjoyed this class. Dr. Ferraro does expect a lot from his students, but I learned so much and the material was really interesting. Most everything is memorization, so if you are good at memorizing then this class will be a breeze. Read the textbook because all the essay questions for the midterm come from there and it has great pictures!!  - Grade In Class:A

Comments:Human Osteology - Joe's a cool guy. The only thing I didn't like about him was how he'd give a lecture and expect you to be an expert 5 minutes later. He comes around and asks you questions about the material he just taught you. His quizzes are pretty tough, you have to know everything pretty much and you only get 1 minute at each station...no word banks or anything. Don't ask for one either; he won't give it to you. It gets annoying how he says, "It's pretty straight forward!" Cuz sometimes it just isn't. He doesn't always make all the requirements known until the last minute...make sure you ask lots of questions about assignments...it's a tough class, but if you study, you should do fine.  - Grade In Class:B
